Hi all, I think I read that to stay out of your body you keep looking at your hands.  Is that right?  Is that what you do?  Lately I have been going out of my body and a later on I get zapped back into myself again.  It is quite frustrating.  I know that emotions such as being excited, talking too loudly, wondering around aimlessly etc can send you back into your body but as far as I know I have not done anything like that.  I was pulled back into my body when I heard someone calling me.  I was a bit surprised.  The other time I was just about to say where I want to go to and I got zapped back into myself.  Thanks for your replies.

Hi,
What you are looking for is called deepening. It involves feeling things around you even if you cant see. Rubbing your hands and feeling the tactile sensations associated with this placing them a few inches infront of your eyes whilst examining them. Spinning on the spot or doing some action unrelated to the scenery where its a concious action on your part.
Its in the book found on obe4u.com and its free.
Hope this helps.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

It's more than just looking at or rubbing your hands together... it's a sensory immersion thing.

This is something I wrote for my website a little while ago on the subject.

QuoteThis is one of many techniques which I'm aware of, and actually use, in order to stabilize my projections and strengthen my awareness to keep it within the reality frame I'm experiencing.

First, think about what we do to "help" others stay awake in this reality. We shake them... we yell at them to stay awake... we use chemicals like smelling salts in order to bring their awareness "HERE". What is this doing? It's our attempt at focusing their attention within this physical reality. Now think about how YOU keep yourself physically awake! We listen to loud music... we drink a stimulant (coffee)... we even slap ourselves... all of which brings our attention more towards this physical reality and more away from the non-physical reality.

How we do certain things in this physical reality can provide to us hints as to how to stabilize and strengthen our connection to the non-physical.

To stabilize and strengthen your non-physical experience you have to attempt to bring as much of your awareness into the environment as you can. Just as the person shaking you and yelling at you (sense of touch and hearing) in order to bring your awareness into this physical reality, we can use the same "technique" to keep our awareness within the non-physical.

What I mean by this is use your 5 senses to REALLY explore your environment. Look at things in minute detail... touch things.... hear the sounds... smell the smells... even taste things! Do this as intensely and with as much focus as you can. This will bring your awareness into the reality you're experiencing and will LOCK it there. This has become my main method as of late and I've been experimenting with it over the last few non-physical experiences I've had. You can read them by clicking on my experiences at the top (or right side) of my website. I've had lucid/astral experiences which have gone on for 30 – 60 minutes doing this.

This is my explanation for it...
What generally happens when we begin to wake up from an experience like this is that the projector will begin to feel their physical body and they'll start to pickup on the sensory input from that physical body. What I explain above causes you to ignore those physical senses and further heightens your non-physical senses which are already active in that reality. Eventually, and if you do it intensely with enough focus, this begins cutting off the physical senses altogether and leaves you experiencing just your non-physical senses and keeps you nice and stable in the non-physical reality.

Did you see how many time Xanth said the word AWARE or AWARENESS in his quote? There's your key right there. Heighten your AWARENESS, you lengthen your journey!   :-)
Good Luck and Safe Travels!  :-)

Astralsuzy

Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate the information.

Rubbing your hands together is the best method. Well said Lionheart.

Thanks roman67.  I appreciate it.  I am looking forward to ap again.  I most probably will ap in the morning if I do not wreck it.  I know what to do but at times I do the wrong thing.  The more practice I get the better I will get.  Hopefully that will be the case.

But don't confuse people.  It's more than just "rubbing your hands together"... it's all about bringing as much of your awareness towards feeling the sensations that occur from rubbing your hands together.  That's the point of my post above.

Astralsuzy

Thanks Xanth, I will do both, rubbing my hands together and getting more aware.  I love the forum.  It is great helping each other and getting new ideas.

Astralsuzy

Hi all, this morning I was imagining something and I ap there.  I remembered to get myself aware.  I was feeling groggy, still half asleep.  I kept saying I am aware.  I was feeling my hands, face and the walls.  For some reason I said I can see.  I should not have said that, my physical eyes opened and I woke up.  I will keep practicing and I will read Xanth's article again.

Astralsuzy

Hi all, during the day I have been saying I am awake, I am extremely aware.  I ap this morning and I felt very aware.  I stayed out of my body for quite a while but later on I lost awareness and I returned to my body.  I thought you would like to know.   I also said during the day, I can see.  I do not have a problem with sight now as I can always see when I am out of my body.

 Congratulations Suzy!  :-)
I was staying at a Motel this weekend because I was out of town doing a show and every night I had spontaneous experiences. One of them that was incredible, it started with me awaking briefly, but not opening my eyes. I could feel the onset of Sleep Paralysis. I knew not to move, so I didn't. The next thing I know I am pulling my body and face out of an icy river flow, with full conscious awareness. I then jumped up on the, I think it's called Gabian Wall, it was a fenced wall of stones that separated the water from the land. Once up on the land I saw two old homes in front of me so I started walking towards them. Just then I thought back about the experience of climbing out of that ice flow and that's all it took to end this scenario and send me back to my Physical awareness again. I woke up briefly, then went back into a few other scenarios, but unfortuantely, didn't retain the memory recall.
The feeling of coming out of that ice flow face down was extraordinary and very frightening at first. But I knew there was no harm to be had here,so I just went with it. I could feel the cold of the ice around my face. I could feel and see the water as it was falling from my face as I was lifting my head out of the water. I had every one of my 5 senses working on overdrive, lol.

Thanks Lionheart.  It makes you feel wonderful when you get out.  I bet you felt great after your experience even though it was not what you expected to happen.  It was an experience so that was great and you learn from the experiences.  That would have been freezing being in an icy river.  You knew that nothing can harm you so it helped you a lot.  I feel like I am improving with my ap experiences.  I am starting to go where I want to go to.

Astralsuzy

Hi all, when I get out of my body I keep going back into my body again shortly afterwards.  I did not make myself aware because I felt I was already aware but I realise it is not enough.  In future I am going to get myself very aware.  Do you have to do that every time you get out of yourself?  Thanks,

AteBits

William Buhlman writes and says that he affirm that he wishes to have more aweareness while out of body. Something like "Awareness now!" or "I want awareness now!". He says that he affirm this in a very firm way, with a powerfull inention. And then he gets more awareness, since he wants it! :) I think it can be done like this without rubbing hands etc. But hey, what do I know :O

Astralsuzy

Thanks for that AteBits.  I have forgotten all about what William Buhlman said.  I was thinking about him today.  It entered my mind.  I am going to do that tomorrow morning.  I seem to ap every morning now.  I am looking forward trying it.  I think it will work because if you believe something will work, it usually will work.  This morning I was rubbing my hands but it did not do any good.

Wasn't Bullhman the guy who said on C2C that one experiences negative entities only if he projects them/attracts them? I guess he hasn't been to the lower branches of F3..?

This is true. If you go looking for them, you shall find them. You normally attract that which is your personal essence. If you use and abuse people, then you will find others like minded in the Astral. If you bring negativity to others, than negative entities will be attracted to you. Like attracts like.

Yes, I totally agree. I was just saying that he stated it was ALWAYS a projection of your own mind which is simply not true. There are negative entities. Of course, a very positive person will likely not attract them but you know... those entities have a will of their own. They can interact with you if they want to. I just don't like when people are like "oh, if you had an encounter with a negative entity, it was your own mind, you are simply thinking negatively, they don't exist." as Bullhman says (speaking from memory).

Astralsuzy

Hi all, This morning I kept saying I am aware now.  I stayed out longer but I am not really satisfied.  Next time I am going to do everything what you suggested.  I will keep saying I am aware now, I will rub my hands together, feel my face, hands etc.  I will not go anywhere until I feel very aware, just like I am physically.  It is important to be very aware otherwise it can feel that it is a bit like a dream.

Astralsuzy

Hi all, I still have to get better at getting my awareness.  I am not spending enough time in getting aware.  I only get myself aware for a short while.  I need to be more aware.  It is not enough just to say I am aware now.  You need to do more than that.  That is from my experiences.  When you are in the astral, how aware are you?  How long does it take for you to get very aware, just like you are physically aware.  Thanks,

ChopstickFox

This thread has been a very fascinating read!

Looking at my hands can help me establish fully leaving my body. And out of habit I try to pick up as much detail as I can. However, I tend to get easily distracted once I'm there and have a hard time following my game plan, lucid or not.

I usually can't save it if I start feeling like I'm being pulled back, but every so often I can pull it off and continue for a while longer. Part of me wants to agree with the earlier comments that you might be sensing your physical body. Focusing on the area around me can sometimes keep me there. I haven't tried my hands or feeling my non-physical body though.

Gratz for being able to stay out longer!
Take to the sky, feeling so alive! Past the clouds to the Milky Way, share our secrets with the starry brigade. The stars surround us like a million fireflies. For once I see infinity... it's in your eyes.

Astralsuzy

I get easily distracted as well.  That is something I have to work on.  I am getting better.  I realise that it is a problem so I keep thinking not to get distracted so I am not getting distracted as much.  In time I should be a lot better at it.  My awareness should get a lot better as well.  It is starting to get into a habit now of trying to get myself aware.  I have to try and be patient.  I will keep practicing and I will get there.

Astralsuzy

Hi all, I still have problems staying out for a while.  When I remember to get my awareness I feel very aware.  I think that is great I feel very aware, just like I am physically and a short while later I come back into my body again.  I thought about it and it must be because I loose awareness after a short while.  How often do you keep trying to get your awareness?  I must get into the habit of getting my awareness more often when I am out of my body.
