Hey everyone thanks for any advice help in advance.

Back in June, I had my first OBE. I was meditating (not much training besides self taught), and I was focusing on what would be the smallest part of "me". The finite point within my body that is me. At some point during this mediation my body started to vibrate. It felt as though my body was vibrating extremely fast. Ringing in my ears. At the point that I think I cant take it, and my mediation is about to break, I release from my body.

This was a true shock to my system. And a wonderful experience. I did not go very far, as I was unsure of what to do/where to go. So I just explored my room and myself. Everything was going along wonderfully. I had a body of "light" even with appendages (arms/legs) but I had not hands or feet (kinda like a starfish). Well at this point I looked down where my genitalia would be and I realized I had none. I realized for the first time in my life I am not really male or female. In hindsight that makes complete sense. We are not really this "body".

Anyways, here are my questions.

1. Is the vibrating normal? I assume yes based on what I have seen on this website so far.  Do you always vibrate like that or does that start to fade?

2. I have not been able to recreate my OBE experience. Perhaps because of not set mediation plan, idea how to recreate what I did. Can you give me some links or advice on best pracitces to achieve OBE/Astral Travel. I have an immense longering to do this again and fexplore more than just my bedroom.

3. Is lucid dreaming harder to achieve? I feel as though I should stick with the mediation side of OBE/astral travel. As lucid dreaming is unfamliar with me. Any advice on this.

Sincerely,

Hi there,
you'll probably get a lot of differing opinions about those questions, but here's my take on it:

1. The vibrating is definitely normal, although not everyone experiences it. And yes, the intensity of the vibrations can fade over time and even disappear altogether.

2. A good place to start would be the Frank Kepple phasing resource which you can find here:
http://www.astralpulse.com/frankkepple.html
As you already meditate, you might find that this method of phasing will work well for you as it requires passive observation and a quiet and focused state of mind.
I'd also recommend the free ebook at a site called OBE4U. It uses a different (indirect) approach, which is equally effective. It's worth trying both methods, as you may find that one works better for you than the other.

3. In my opinion lucid dreaming and OBE/phasing/astral projection are essentially the same thing. Lucid dreams just just feel a little different because they usually begin in a pre-existing dreamscape with all its baggage, whereas with an OBE you usually go straight from the waking state to a representation (or astral version of) your bedroom. This gives a different and more realistic feel to the experience.

Good luck with it.
