OBE within/without dreams

The OBE experiences I have had have almost always occurred within dreams. Sometimes right smack dab in the middle. I am usually laying down to fall asleep and sometimes I even believe that I am awake only to be disappointed when I wake up for real in my physical bed (which is usually different from within the dream). Rather than bore you will all the times this has happened, I will skip ahead.

Most of my experiences have occurred in the morning. I can't for the life of me get one as I'm just relaxing or going to bed. They are usually easier than a thought. I just have the random thought "ok, time to float into the air" and then do so. I have the most success, ironically, by laying on my side. I will just "roll over" to get out of my body. Looking at my [astral] hands as I roll over helps too.

After rolling over, I will myself slightly into the air. I am completely lucid, however I don't act as expected. Such as, I never have an interest in looking down at my body or checking for a silver cord. I really just don't care, though I am always filled with excitement. My body (or lack thereof) feels exhilarating and I feel the vibration of energy at my core.

What makes me start doubting the authenticity of these experiences is that while my bedroom looks how it should, if I try to go out the door, it stops looking how it should. I am a very slow floater (um...) and I haven't been able to get my feet on the ground (nor do I feel like it at the time). I'm curious if this is pretty common: being lucid, but still not acting like you'd think your lucid self would act. Once I made it to the bathroom door and I was so excited! But inside was completely different, making me think that I wasn't actually having an OBE. Also, I am unsubstantial so like my hand will pass through like the window or wall, but whenever I try to go all the way through, I am pulled back into my body, ending the experience. I want to explore so bad! I read stories where people can will themselves up to zoom into the air and look down at the universe... And here I am stuck in my bedroom... >_> ugh!

I am still rather new to this from the outside perspective so any comments are super appreciated.

My experience is imagination, dreams, lucid dreams, astral projection, out-of-body experiences, and the physical bleedthroughTM in both directions. For example, just before or after returning to physical consciousness many people report auditory or visual hallucinations. I have had many of these, so it's not a far leap to say that the dream world can bleedthroughTM while having an OBE.

To get through walls or closed doors I generally just shut off my sight and focus on quickly going through to the other side. It's kinda strange to feel a door or wall from the inside by the way. It takes practice at first but it's easy once you get the hang of it. I'd advise to stick to closed doors rather than walls when possible. Try not to get excited as this of course will pull you back to your body as well. It took me years and years and years to zoom through the air into the universe and even then it was one of the most amazing and hardest things I've ever done. Take things one step at a time, remember not to stay out too long, and to always get up and walk around after you come back.

There's different levels of OBEs... I've had some that feel as real as this is (if not more real) and others that are more dream like in quality. It depends on how much energy you put into the projection. For lack of a better word... the emotional or psychic or nervous energy that I initially use when exiting is the most significant factor. Also the longer you stay out the more likely you will experience dream bleedthroughTM. Drawing energy or focusing on things can help stabilize the experience.

After you make it to other rooms of your house try going outside, if you decide to fly be forewarned it will pull you back at first just like going through walls and doors currently does. It's a pain.

That's very interesting... I haven't looked at it from that perspective before. And about the bleedthrough thing.

This is an exciting journey :)

I'm not really sure if it was an astral projection or not. But I am pretty sure it dented your confidence in going through wall and doors. It's the same as APing you just need to have a strong intent to do something and make sure to yell it if it's not working but you have to believe it'll work

Don't give in to astonishment.

Steel Hawk is bang on... each time you encounter something new you will probably loose focus because of adrenaline and excitement, stress or fear.

Each time gets easier.

Steel Hawk... why do you put a 'TM' after you say bleedthrough?

It's hard not to get excited and I often find myself telling myself to chill out, haha. It is true that things are a bit easier and I can do a little more each time. I'm seriously learning so much here... Love it!

That's the thing.. we conquer a fear or an obstacle we learn... This conquers ignorance. We conquer a germ, our immune system learns... the accumulated levelling up to complete harder levels in a computer game is even a fractal of this. Life... the universe and reality is microcosmic and perfectly fractal.

Every time we confront a fear a failure which creates an illusionary but perceived obstacle in ourselves (because that is the only source of fear and failure 'ourselves'... 'ego') we learn from the experience. It's the point of life... to learn.. assimilate... and adapt... biologically and consciously.
