Hello everyone!

I've just sort of been lurking around the forums here (shame on me) and decided to finally register. I came across this site a few days ago. I've always had somewhat of an interest in out of body experiences and astral projection, although I think I'm at my peak of interest and intent on finding out as much as I can about it and hopefully be able to successfully induce an OBE or astral projection.

Not too long ago, maybe 4 years ago, after coming home from work and taking a nap, I'd always come out of a dream into sleep paralysis. At the time I really had no Idea what it mean or what I could do with it. It would happen almost every day and was quite scary, however I never did anything about it. I do believe though that I did either have an OBE or projection, at work. Shame on me again for falling asleep at work. Anywho, I fell asleep on the couch in the classroom which I work, moments later noticing that I was walking around in the classroom. Everything looked somewhat different... everything was pitch black except for the edges of any object which would be a greenish/bluish color, same types of colors you see when you close your eyes. I do also think that I was feeling a dual consciousness as I was projecting and still able to hear what was going on in the classroom? I heard the other staff saying it was time for the students to leave, and I remember sort of being pulled back into my body, feeling myself move into the exact position of where I was laying on the couch. As I woke up I felt sort of waves or vibrations moving up my body and face. Never have I felt that from waking up before. If that was an OBE or projection it's been my one and only so far.

Seems there is a large learning curve for all of this so any help will definitely be appreciated.

ooooh you lurker. lol

Welcome Jetty.

You are already familiar with the sensations... this is good.

Hello and welcome Jetty
Your experience while asleep on the couch at work was probably an OBE. Many people become aware when out of body during their first OBE while physically asleep (and mentally awake) in a familiar location. The one slight difference from a "normal" classical first OBE was that your vision was unusual. Yet that might be explained by several factors, included the close proximity to the physical body (which many times distorts the astral senses).
In any event there is a Lot of info on OBEs and astral projection to be found here and help can be obtained when you post specific questions in the various forums here.

Thanks for all the welcomes.

I have read through the faq here, however I do seem to be losing myself in all the information available and cant really find a good starting point. Maybe I've just over thought things and confused myself. Where would be a good place to start?

Start by practicing Meditation and getting in touch with your inner self. See where that leads. After you have some practice under your belt, you can start to experiment and find what technique seems "natural" to you!  :-)

Hello Jetty
Start by selecting the activity that interests you the most. It could be OBEs or dreams or energy work or ?? whatever. The select the appropriate forum(s) and get started. Read a few topics and maybe start a thread yourself and post a question and/or a personal experience. People will soon respond to your thread and just continue from there.

Welcome! Reading up on things is great, but don't forget to self explore too! Sometimes you yourself can be the best teacher :D Have fun!

So far I've been trying to explore on my own, read what I can when I can and also meditation. As far as mediating hours I'm not sure how exactly meditation is supposed to be done. Do I find a thought our object to focus on? Or just concentrate on the blackness as my eyes are closed? I've also tried using and reading about binaural beats, and the gateway experience from the Monroe institute. I do get varied results each time using either one, however I'm only on the 2nd track of the first CD in the gateway experience set.

Aside from that the past two mornings I've going into sleep paralysis, while sitting upright. First morning resulted with hearing a short today in my head and feeling vibrations, after which I felt I was in a room with someone (I was physically in a school bus with kids that I teach), sitting on a stool. Suddenly I became extremely terrified as I could feel that I couldn't move my body, but I was moving my arms? While they were still not moving. I started trying to scream, heard the other person say "oh my God" and then I slowly woke up. When I did wake up none one on the bus seemed to be paying attention to me as I thought someone on the bus said oh my God to me trying to scream.
