Just another newbie (& any other artists or magicians here?)

Hello everyone! I've already met a couple of you but I'm going to make a more formal introduction here

I'm a visual artist, poet, ceremonial magician and spiritual seeker. I'll often paint or draw my dreams and once I have a successful AP I'll definitely be painting this as well.

I haven't yet had a successful full-blown AP, LD or OBE but I'm working towards these for around a year. However, I frequently have dreams about astral projection and I believe I've come pretty close. I've also had a couple weird energetic experiences I will eventually write about here.

I'm interested in altered states of consciousness/awareness and the infinite realities and dimensions that pervade our existence. You'll probably find me in the 'consciousness' forum section a lot.

Any of you artists or witches/magicians?

Pervade is a nice description... so near yet so far away... well... for measurable science as it stands anyway. 

I am an artist and have made magic devices for magicians and film... but I'm not sure you mean the same thing.

I should have clarified and said painter and occultist. I'm assuming you mean visual effects for film?

 Hello and Welcome to the Astral Pulse! 

I used to be a very deep practitioner of Magick until I realized it had everything to do with focus will and intent and that all my rituals were to prepare myself for the task. When I first started down that path, I thought, through reading books and so on, that all the rituals themselves were to bring about the desired change.

I then got into Scrying and was shown I was wrong. That every little thing I did was to deepen my OWN focused will and intent into the said act.

Now I use that focused will and intent and direct it towards learning and experiencing in the NPR.

Change your mindset and you change your Reality!  This is the key to accessing the NPR on a regular basis.

Greetings Lionheart, I think we were replying to each others' posts at the same time. Right after I replied to your Egyptian healing rod post I saw this reply from you! LOL

What you're saying certainly makes sense about magic being all about intent and this viewpoint is fascinating. I really think I needed to hear your post because sometimes I wish I would drop this Hermetic paradigm I'm so focused on. I would love to look at reality through the eyes of a child, because then I could see the omniverse as it is.

Some people need that Hermetic paradigm for structure. There's nothing wrong with it. It has taught people for many many years now.

But, just as with someone stuck in the NPR that needs a Retrieval, we sometimes need to see anew.

Many of the very old practitioners of Magick use plain thought now. They have outgrown the need for ritual.

Magick is a fascinating activity. It can evoke the artist and poet in many people. Of course there is more to it than just being creative. In its own way magick is just as mysterious as the out of body experience, maybe even more so.
