Hey guys,

Just found these forums, they seem to actually be active unlike most I have found. I have been trying to pursue Astral projection for a month and a half or so now. I have definitely had serious progress, but It has only lead to more confusion. I have had three occurences that I believe were the brink of AP, if not AP(or so i believe)I am very curious to what you guys think. I'll jump right into it, sorry they are long I tried my best to keep descriptions as short as possible without leaving anything out.

All occurences happened after I gained consciousness in my sleep.

Occurence 1:

I was having a weird dream, composed of a room in my current house(except the door on a different wall). This door lead to a room in one of my old houses I lived in 4 years ago. The last part of the dream I remember is all the sudden the lights went out in the room and I started panicking. I am not sure why I was so afraid but I ran to the lightswitch to turn on the lights. I flicked it three or four times and nothing happened. That second I realized I was dreaming and immediately thought "okay it's OBE time". Next thing I knew my dream faded and I was laying in my bed, still asleep. In a split second I experienced the craziest vibrations I have ever felt. (Up until this time I thought i had experienced these vibrations I had been reading about) These vibrations were intense, it felt like I was taking off. Gradually there was this high pitched whiney rushing noise that increasingly got louder and more unbearable. My heartbeat was racing. Based on what I had read on AP up until this point, I knew exactly what was happening. I thought to myself "this was it!". But as things got more intense, I panicked. I was terrified of going into a whole new unknown world. I have never felt fear so real in my life. And with that I woke myself up and laid there, unable to get back to sleep for a long time.

Occurence 2:

After a few more times of waking up in my sleep and trying to OBE, the fear always overwhelmed me and I could never get as intense of vibrations as I did that one night.

One night a week or so after the intense vibrations night, I had an "inception" like experience. It is unfortunately blurry but I remember enough to be very confused. The first thing I recall is lying in my bed, arms stuck straight up in the air, I felt like a statue frozen solid unable to move anything. I started to wiggle my right arm and pulled it free, I could feel it leaving my arm(that was still frozen straight up in the air) i tried to move it around but only my hand to my shoulder I could move(what i believed to be my "astral arm"), the rest of my body was frozen solid.Next thing I remember is throwing my arms down by my side and waking myself up...or so I thought. There i found myself still laying in my bed, this time my arms by my side. I knew I was asleep still, there was a high pitched whine and next thing I knew I felt separated from my body. I have no idea why or a reason why i felt this way, but I just felt separate from it. I tried the "situp" technique and only got my upper torso bent out until this unbelievable magnetic force pulled me back down into my body, It was so fast and powerful I couldn't resist. There I was laying in my bed, this time awake for sure.

I thought on this one for awhile, It felt like either my first "statue state" was an unconscious dream(in which i awoke)then I pulled myself out of that dream and into a lucid dream(which is why I could tell myself to sit up) and woke up truly after that. My inception dream within a dream, or so it felt like.
my other theory is in fact I awoke in my statue dream and that became the lucid dream, because I was very aware what was happening to me, and I pulled myself into a separation. However I did not feel any vibrations, But It felt so real that I had truly separated, is it possible I separated in my sleep without realizing it? and then gained consciousness after separation?

Occurence 3:

This one is short, but The first time i have felt anything like it.

I was having a random dream which I can't remember. The second I gained consciousness I awoke and I knew I woke up in my sleep again. but this time it didn't feel like my regular sleep paralysis state I am accustomed to. in the state I was in, my body did not exist, nor did the physical world around it. I remember blue and white. And I can't describe as anything else but the fact that I was existence itself.

Could this have been another separation in my sleep without realizing it? or such a deep sleep paralysis I totally lost sense of the physical world?

I feel I am on the verge of an AP(If I haven't already). But I just can't decide if what I am experiencing is real or a figment of my imagination on the dream plane? thanks for taking the time to read, I am hoping someone has insight to what my experiences could possibly be.

what do you guys think?

Dude the last occurance sounds insane :O like genuinlly such a fun experience :) i am sorry i have replied without the knowledge to give you answers but i lucid dream since i have been trying to AP which has been the last two weeks and the same happens to me when i realise i am lucid dreaming i get pulled into the vibrational stage and get the closest i can to seperating :). Fear has been most definatly holding me back...first it was shadow people i now realise the one who i presume is the same lil shadow dude watching me when i try phasing is harmless and yet curious although i have not adjusted totally he freaks me out but still i get the feeling he is trying to help yanno? ha

The first Occurrence has happened to me a lot of times. Its usually the result after a botched attempt. You can't push a phase experience, you have to get pulled into it.

The second occurrence is the more classic natural OBE. You usually don't even feel them happen. Its comfortably sudden. Again, as a newcomer I botched a lot of these attempts just like you did there by realizing I was having them while the phasing process occurred. This is just a trial and error and experience thing.

The third occurrence could be a number of different states of mind. Not enough descriptors there to pinpoint. Try reading some of the stickies around here. If you havn't hit up major Tom's F10 one or Xanth's Phasing primer then you are definitely missing out.

Best on the travels.

Let me throw this idea at you: Everything is essentially pretty much the same thing. All the fancy names of OBE, AP, LD... they just explain in more detail how your time in the non physical was experienced. So it sounds like you've had quite a few experiences already! Congratulations! :D

There is more than one way into the non physical. I am guilty myself of wanting to be able to have a conscious exit in a right from the book way. Fly around my neighborhood or whatever. I'm still trying other ways, but I am also embracing the experiences I get when I get them and no longer thinking "Oh, well, it wasn't by the book". It's not about how you get there, but the experience itself.

I hate to keep talking about myself here, but it's the best way to make comparisons. I'm pretty familiar with the "Inception" feeling. Sometimes I have a bunch of false awakenings piled on top of each other. False awakenings can be a good thing and make experiences easy. You just get up, think you are awake, then come across something that makes you realize that you are not awake. I have even been starting to think that my "by the book" exits have been from within realistic false awakenings. Does it matter? No, it just works for me.

Fear can be pretty deterring... but just think... that world you're going to? You've already been there. A bunch! There's nothing to be afraid of, just enjoy! :D

Thanks for the replies! gives me more confidence knowing I have been out already. I have even achieved a state like this induced without waking up in my sleep. I only wish more people would believe in this and be able to experience it for themselves.

"I feel like existence itself", that is cool. 8-)

"Could this have been another separation in my sleep without realizing it? or such a deep sleep paralysis I totally lost sense of the physical world?"

That was both. You fell asleep and woke up while your body was still in SP. Remember, a dream is a separation from the physical world. Aren't we the lucky ones? Imagine how much better off the world would be if everyone took advantage of these amazing gifts that we all have.
