Hi all, i'll start with an experience i just had (the first time i properly astral projected out of my body, i think?) and then follow up with past experiences and issues.

I fell asleep on my living room sofa about an hour ago, after a short while i became conscious that i was sleeping so i began raising my vibrations, and sure enough i started getting all the usual signs and began spinning in the blackness. I managed to spin / throw myself out of my body (this is my usual technique) and floated down into the room. My visibility was really poor so as i started to leave the room i kept focusing on telling myself that i needed clarity, which worked. So i decided to go back and see if i could look at myself sleeping, as i've never been able to do this before (i'll mention why later), it felt pretty weird seeing myself asleep, and i had my dog laying on me, perfectly still looking into thin air with his mouth open but he did appear to be conscious so to speak, any explanations? I also felt like there was something else present in the room. I left myself and decided to go visit someone but i lost visibility shortly after and couldnt regain it, so i woke up.

Any comments on my experience would be greatly appreciated.

In my later teens, before i knew anything about astral projection, i had some terrifying sleep paralysis experiences. The first time waking up paralysed with a weight on my chest, to see some negative entity on top of me. The next a similar but prolonged experience when a shadow / negative entity was coming over my bed what seemed like to harm me. And another where i was dreaming about having sex, only to wake up in SP with a similiar entity laying in bed with me - this actually disturbed me for some time haha, as did the other experiences - i thought they were real.

I had a few other experiences, all negative. I only become aware of lucid dreaming and AP and couple years ago, since then i've had a few horrible experiences, often a couple days after using drugs - as if i've made myself vulnerable or an easy target to these entities?

Because of those experiences i'm terrified of sleep paralysis, so i never use this technique when i attempt to astral project, the only other two experiences i've had i always started my astral projection in unknown or new places, not near my body. Are they even projections?

Any further comments would be greatly appreciated, thank you :)

Hello and Welcome to the Astral Pulse!  :-)

Read this entire sticky here, it should help you understand what is happening and why.

http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_out_of_body_experiences/everything_you_could_ever_want_to_know_about_sleep_paralysis-t38734.0.html

Half the battle is "knowing" the reasons behind your experiences.

Even that doesn't help sometimes in the heat of the moment, as I have seen lately.

I feel for you, Sleep Paralysis can be terrifying. But, gaining your senses during it can lessen the blow.

We only see what we are supposed to. Your Sleep Paralysis has led you here to this site and in turn has opened your eyes a little wider.

Good Luck and Safe Travels!  :-)

I appreciate the replies, but the link only provides information on SP. I was hoping for comments mainly on AP experience, seeing myself etc. Thanks

The AP experience was special to you. It had meaning that only you can figure out.

We can help you get there, but what you experience there, is between you and the Non Physical Reality.

Next time you meditate, pose that question to yourself and listen to for your answer.  :-)

If you don't yet, learn to!

It makes this entire practice soooooooooooooo much easier!  :-)

Hello xp1111
It appears that you truly did have an OBE. Chances are that your poor vision was caused by the close proximity of your physical body. This is not all unusual. Many people find their astral senses blurred or distorted by their (nearby) physical bodys. In fact many a promising OBE has been cut short because the person stayed too close to their physical body. So it is good advice to try to get at least 15 to 20 feet away from the body once the OBE begins.
