A few years ago I experienced OOBEs and lucid dreams which gave me more insight & self validation about the "self, I am".

My OOBE: WE all wear masks, personas.
I felt a slight weight on my cheeks, so I flew upstairs &
looked at myself in the golden framed mirror.
I was grey haired and appeared very old, and had many wrinkles, however I had so fat on my cheeks.
I immediatel rejected this reflection, insisting in my mind that I am youthful.
The reflection changed.
I saw a youthful version of my regular look wearing a fox half mask which covered my upper face.
Then the mask disappeared and I saw myself gazing into the mirror.
Unexpectedly I got pulled into the mirror, into nothingness, the stillness, the void.
I have no body awareness and experience the pure presence of mind, self awareness.
[I have experienced this several times before this experience].

My Lucid Dream: Timeless dance of nothingness
I found myself in - what felt like a spacious hall with shiny wooden floor boards.
[I did not perceive any boundaries/walls , heard the murmurs of many voices but perceived no bodies].

I saw three white scrolls on the floor; all looked like calendars
each featuring month after month,
an animated similing blue being with 4 waving arms, sitting cross-legged, wearing different neck ornaments.
I moved down the scrolls and did not perceive any ending to the scrolls/this repetition.

[I found out later this blue being is the image of the Hindu God "Shiva".
The hall is a metaphor for the hall of mirrors and
the timeless calendar a metaphor for the dance/dream creation
of hide and seek around nothingness].

Afterwards I looked up the symbols for:
FOX: http://www.whats-your-sign.com/fox-animal-symbolism.html

HINDU GOD SHIVA: Shiva is the god of the yogis, self-controlled and celibate,
while at  the same time a lover of his spouse (shakti).
Lord Shiva is the  destroyer of the world, following Brahma the creator and Vishnu  the preserver,
after which Brahma again creates the world and so on.
Shiva is responsible for change both in the form of death and  destruction and
in the positive sense of destroying the ego, the false  identification with the form.
This also includes the shedding of old  habits and attachments.

We are spirit, expressing what we will.
We act out perSONAs on our stage of iMAGEination.
We are both the dreamer & the dream.
I think therefore I am.
I am consciousness & potentiality

Interesting!  So why do you think you had the Hindu lucid dream?  You say you had the dream before you were aware of the God and symbolism.  Is this significant to you?  If this is too personal please forgive my asking!

I love reading about different religions.  I find lots of truth in many of them. :)

Hi soarin12,

Although I was raised with the typical Christian attitudes and belief systems,
I never did quite grasp the [separate] lofty authoritarian God image.

Throughout my childhood I had many lucid dreams
[eg. flying, playing tips on the ceiling with my brothers,
being aware that I am dreaming about myself dreaming, having a dream]
had sleep paralysis -caught myself leaving my body
but did not closely examine these experiences, and went my merry/and not so merry ways.

It wasn't until 2002 when I experienced an awake spontaneous OOBE with dual consciousness
[#9] http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_permanent_astral_topics/what_are_your_achievements_and_discoveries-t25297.0.html;msg298472#msg298472,
that I started to question the nature of self and reality.

My lucid dreams became more interesting.
I explored OOBE and phasing states of consciousness.
I started breaking out of CULTural hypnosis and dogma [unquestionable belief systems]  :-)

QuoteThink freely. Question everything.

I was not aware of the Hindu symbolism and their corresponding meanings
before that lucid dream experience.
These experiences and subsequent interpretations demonstrate that our inner self
continually communicates to/reminds us in our other states of consciousness.
The question is, are we paying attention?

CULTure and scientifc thinking persuades most minds to dismiss one's dreams and
any metaphysical experiences as unimportant or "unexplainable events".
However if one remembers more of the totality of one's experiences, in waking consciousness, physical realities, non-physical realities, dream realities & meditation, then one will not experience such tunnel vision and self-doubt.

When one has vivid rembrance of these experiences, then one knows that the
ego-personality construct, body vehicle and time-story-context is transient.
The only absolute is self!

I love reading about different religions.  I find lots of truth in many of them. :)

Many religious texts contain elements of truth, however most are distortions if you
were to take the words as absolute literal fact.
Allegorical fables can be appreciated for its rich imagery/symbolism and
perceived meaning on multiple levels.
These mental images of "God/Source" are archetypes in humanity's collective psyche
of qualities one wishes to project in creation.

Religion was useful in my youth, when I needed some guidance.
Now, [mid 30s] I perceive religion as stage props to set the scene for Imagination to build stories.

I enjoyed reading about your spontaneous OOBE with dual consciousness.  I've never experienced that kind of thing before.  The only parts of my astral body I've seen are my hands and arms.  I did experience the non-dual consciousness thing though.  It was actually from the physical that I experienced it.  I was just walking across the room when my consciousness just opened up and I perceived what I would describe as infinity, all knowledge and myself and everything as one.  It only lasted about 5 seconds but I was forever changed.  I am a Christian and consider myself lucky that I didn't grow up with the dogmatic beliefs/authoritarian lofty God thing that you and so many others did.  That all comes from (as you said) taking scriptures too literally and not understanding that people were writing from their own perceptions and cultural beliefs.  Jesus cut through all that too when he only gave us one commandment which is to love.  Love God and one another.

It's always interesting and enlightening to read your posts DreaminGod!  Thanks for sharing!

Excellent post Dreamingod ( reply 2).
It contains so much that is unseen by many.

Science and the metaphysical go hand  in hand, to dismiss one, you will never have a true understanding of what we really are, you will only understand part of the picture, and it will always be incomplete.

I believe we are multi-dimensional entities/gods, who have the potential to be, and to do anything, our "consciouness" can invision.
Everything is expanding on levels most are unaware of, we all are expanding into each other. you notice this more with those you are close to,
But we also expanding into previously unknown areas/entities, which bring new avenues for us to explore,

We are all on a journey, We are "travellers" who have not yet realised we are travelling through each others "universes".

When we enter the "Astral", our universes merge without borders or laws, it is why sometimes it can be confussing, but it also brings us new insights which we are unaware of in our "wakeing states".
