Light switch phenomenon

So while attempting to sleep and not doing it successfully, I practiced observing my awareness.  After about 30 minutes of this I began to bathe myself in white light.  I did this for about 10 minutes.  That's when I began to see flashing colors and vibrant lights under my closed eye lids.  After feeling sensations of mid air cartwheels, I clicked out.  Now I know I was dreaming, but I definitely feel that I might have been projecting but not aware of it.  My first clue was in my dream, I was at work.  It was late at night.  I was walking outside when I saw a kid in the distance.  He pulled out a firework and aimed it at a bunch of dry trees.  Seeing this I immediately took off flying after the kid yelling no! But I couldn't fly quite right.  It's like I didn't have enough energy.  In the middle of taking flight my dream flashed to another scene where I'm in my house.  I'm at the patio where both of my kittens are staring at me.  I noticed that it was really dark so I tried to flip the light switch next to the glass door.  But the switch didn't work!  I then tried all the switches and noticed that they were all broken.  With that thought I woke up and realized I was dreaming.  But I do remember a long time ago hearing that you can't flip light switches on/off while dreaming.  Does anyone know why that is?  Also, does anyone think I was projecting but not aware of it?

Boom

It sounds to me like you just fell asleep and had a regular dream.

The light switch thing not working is very common. At least it is for me.  Sometimes like switches don't work at all and I'm in darkness still, which then becomes scary and the dream can get pretty nightmare ish. Other times the light is only very very dim, like not enough voltage is going through the bulb.  Try and remember it, because if you do have another dream where you find the light isnt working, you can use this as a basis to realise you're dreaming and therefore become aware. You can then go lucid and possibly (depending on your awareness) you could launch into a projection.

Hey joneagle_28.

'just a dream' isn't a bad thing on the Pulse. Dreaming is seemingly an observance of ones projection.

Going way back, light switches that didn't work were an indication I was out and about. When they did work I was awake or in a regular dream.
Read up on false awakenings. You may find more similarities.
Maybe even missing an opportunity to go further.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

The elements of the dream were nice though. I remember on that flying scene, it felt really real. It felt like it did during my previous projection experiences. I miss projecting so much! Since I have been working graveyard shifts I haven't projected at all! Can anyone help with this?

Do what you did before but in your current schedule.

I go through periods whereas I will go to sleep at 4-5 am, well that's my norm.

But, when I have a show to do, I just acclimate myself to the time change and continue my daily and nightly Aping.

I use my affirmations every night, regardless of how busy I am the next day.

I have been fortunate to be able to now access 2-3 Dreams consciously aware every single night.

This took a lot of hard work, but it's paying off now.  :-)

Me too, with light switches. I also have noted many times that TV was on but I could not change channels.

That was normal with me also. But your dreams were very interesting. Specially, when you were taking flight in a dream and it seems you really enjoyed it.

In curiousness, do any of you not usually have any of the common "dream signs?"

For instance, my dreams usually have a set of rules, particular to the dream and which can change, that they follow.  I can read text in my dreams, I can't remember things like lights witches to working, and I've never really had the teeth nightmares or anything like that.  The only thing I get is that, every so often, I'll run slow.

What about you?

Bedeekin

Exploring a building usually with a sense of childhood... every room is different and holds different meanings.

Having a task to do and not being prepared; involved in a play and forgetting lines or not being ready.

Realising I have been conducting my affairs in the dream in my pants or naked.

Spending time in the dream with my best friend who upon waking wasn't my best friend at all... but in the dream they were.

That's all I can think of at the moment. :)

Boom

Dream signs.. oh yeah!

I frequently observe commercial airplanes crashing. Sometimes I may even be on said airplane.
Elevators do all sorts of weird and wonderful things. Like isntead of just going up and down, the roll around, go forward and backwards, go on entire journeys or are odd in many ways.
Light switches don't work keeping me in darkness.
I am frequently at my childhood home some 1600 miles away, and the house is as it was about 10 years ago.

So knowing all this, why don't I manage to jump lucid when these dreams are happening? I frequently get the above experiences whilst dreaming, so I should be aware that they're dreams when they happen. But, nope the brain is a troll and I don't realise until I've woken up!
