Closest I've gotten to Astral Projecton

Hey guys! I haven't been on this site for months because I haven't really had much luck with anything of the sort. However, last night, I had an experience which was pretty close from AP yet really far.

I was sleeping in my weekend cabin and I was dreaming of hiking up a mountain when I tripped and fell off the edge. I immediately triggered a lucid dream to try to slow down the fall so I wouldn't get hurt. I failed to slow down the fall, but I had enough will-power to make it that I landed unscathed. I ran around doing typical lucid dream stuff before my mind started slipping so I told myself to do the spinning technique and yelling 'clarity now!' but none of those helped me regain the dream scene. (It never does, but that's a problem for another time)

I had a false awakening where I walked around the room of my house (which was funny considering I was sleeping in my cabin at the time, I feel dumb for not realizing it) I told myself that I was awake and pinched myself and I felt it. I know, that's a stupid reality check method in hindsight. However, I woke up in my cabin to some loud scratching noise that scared me pretty badly. I then woke up again to a double false awakening, which I thought was pretty cool because it never happened before.  I made extra careful precautions to make sure it wasn't a triple dip before I lay down on my bed again. I couldn't tell if the scratching sound was an animal or just a product of my mind, but I lay down and calmed myself.

I started hearing noises like the scratching and also my mini-fridge turned on an I was certain that was a 'real' sound and it was an interesting sensation filtering the noises. I then heard some sounds that sounded like some alien cat but I calmed myself knowing it wasn't a real threat. I kept listening to the sounds and calming myself every time I got too tense and making sure my mind stayed conscious.

However, my body started getting really uncomfortable in the position I was in so I moved, waking my body up. I almost got back to the noises, but then no matter how hard I tried to avoid the discomfort, it got to the point where I had to move because I was afraid I might be preventing blood from flowing.

So that's as far as I got, it's a huge step considering how little success I had before. If you guys could give any tips on how to fully succeed at AP or anything I did wrong it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Well see, as far as I'm concerned that *WAS* an astral projection, or as I call it an "astral awareness experience".  So it wasn't a huge step at all... it was the goal.  :)

You were in the non-physical, you were fully aware of that fact, AND you had a waking awareness where you knew who you are with all physical memories intact.

See, the problem with this stuff is that people have all these preconceived notions and ideas about what an experience is and isn't... then they go with the labels that they've read about assuming that they're correct.  I've found through my own experiences that the labels that most people use are wrong.

Suffice to say, what you experienced WAS a projection of the sort you're looking for.  I do encourage you to leave the box you've put yourself into though... drop the labels, they're meaningless metaphors that only serve to get in the way of finding the truth.  :)

Hello, all I can say here, is change your mindset, change your reality.

Check out this recent thread, it says it all: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_out_of_body_experiences/obe_with_sister_and_synchronization-t43204.0.html;msg337048#new

You have been successful all along!

What's your expectations here with AP? What is AP to you?

Edit: Oh, I see Xanth beat me to it by 30 seconds, lol!  :-P

Oh wow I guess I went farther than I expected. However, how can I get it that I can fill my mind with the visual aspect of the Astral Plane? In this experience it was entirely auditory and I was more like in an altered state of conscious. My body was still awake I think.

There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.
