What will be left of the "self" ?

Brain chemistry is easily altered by illnesses and drugs, which can completely change a persons personality and behavior.

If you have family members suffering from schizophrenia and the like you probably know that first hand.

Recipients of organ transplants report that they also experience changes in personality and behavior, which is attributed to the possibility of cell memory.

People who had a stroke also underwent complete personality changes as in these cases:

I therefore wonder, what will be left in the astral of our current selves?

Hi there and welcome.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking?

Are you implying that by projecting, we are risking an uncontrolled change in our personality or identity of self?

Please explain a little further as I find this interesting but I don't really have enough to go by as to what you are specifically asking.

Anyways, glad to see you here and please introduce yourself in the members introduction's forum if you would like.
It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.

I think that they are asking which parts of us are ultimately tied to the physical body, and which are unchanging parts of ourselves that we will retain when we die.

For me, I would say most of us is physical (at least what you think of as you), and will be left behind when you die. We will retain a perspective, and somewhere in our being we will have the memories of our past selves, but the being you were will have ceased to exist. You will of course continue to exist, but you, and all the people you know can only be "themselves" once. Your life here and now has great value, and contains things you will never have access to ever again.

At least that is what I surmise.

I just wonder what will be left of us once we pass, as it's not really adressed by people that apparently have a vast experience traveling the astral like Frank Kepple.

He almost seems to imply that a lot is retained by people very attached to the physical that move to Focus 3.

The binary soul theory says that nothing is left of the personality, that a recording is left in the akashic records (aka the 'soul') but that the spirit goes on to reincarnate, a clean slate.
Why?

I think that how much of 'you' sticks around afterwards depends on how much you want it to.

The fundamental question is... is this the real you or is the real you a higher, dual self, that is controlling everything from some higher plane?

If this is the case, and if we are dual, then it's safe to say that we aren't really 'us' at all.

So, we may not even want to cling to our egos and personas when we die. Reality might just be a huge illusion or dream that our higher self is inventing at a quantum level. Also, you might want to look at it this way: lets say you had a dream that you had someone else's life, someone else's name, and someone else's personality and you had a whole dream surrounding this illusionary persona. What happens when you wake up? You are you and the persona in your dream quickly dissolves, fades away, and becomes distant. Sure, you might always remember having a dream where you were someone else, and lived someone else's life, but, when it's over, you don't cling to it, right?

Perhaps death is like the higher self waking up from a dream. And, when we reincarnate, we might start dreaming all over again.  :-D

I stick to the AVATAR theory or metaphor if you will.

What creates the AVATAR?
- Imagine the Higher Self (Oversoul) playing a kind of virtuality game and (re-) creating an avatar to enter a virtual world every time it plays the game (= a life). The AVA is (re)created from the Higher Self's own 'portfolio' of characters, traits, abilities, shortcomings, etc. Then there's also interference with the ruleset of the game you enter, which is also the biological and genetic determinants, maybe even astral determinants that kind of "shape" each respective personality / ego / "AVATAR". Lots of factors. So the ego (AVA) is an illusion and (a) real (creation of the HS) at the same time.

How does cell memory work, e.g. people gaining other memories or characer traits after heart transplantation?
- Each cell has DNA that is resonnates with your HS identity code. DNA itself is multidimensional I presume. If another DNA is integrated into the body system it is of course that of another AVATAR belonging (being 'played' by) a different HS. Hence the interference of character and memories.

Schizophrenia and multiple personalities?
- Due to psychological or body trauma some channels are opened that access other characters personalities of AVATARS that were formerly used by the Higher Self in other games. Maybe it is also "karmic" in a certain way, which means that the current AVA deals with a problem that arose from (or can be solved by help of) a former AVA. All of which of course creates confusion of the current ego-personality (AVA) and leads to a disfunction in this physical world (hence the pathology).
