A little history about me before I present my situation.  I first got interested in Astral Travel about a decade ago when I was 15 or 16.  It was merely a curiosity thing after I read about it somewhere on the internet.  Well being the kid and novice I was, I was very susceptible to fluff I would come across and basically "psyched" myself out and got frustrated and gave up.  I focused on lucid dreaming instead and found that very fulfilling in a relatively short amount of time.

Anyway,  about 2 years ago I came across a book call Pagan Metaphysics 101: A Guide to Enlightenment.  Besides being an excellent read I found that this once again sparked my interest into Astral Travel.  Perhaps being more mature lead to my success, but I had my first Astral experience after about 3 weeks of on and off practice I believe.  My first experience was "okay".  I found myself more disoriented than anything and was very short.  After that, I was having intermittent success.  I still was a bit nervous about it all and found myself projecting at a low vibration, which I'm sure some of you know, that won't help your fear issues at all.    As they say practice makes perfect and after much practice was able to keep myself in a mindset that I would automatically project to a higher vibration that I wouldn't have to try and force myself there after I was already out.  And the rest is history until recently.

I'm not sure what has changed, but last month I found myself projecting at a lower vibration again and finding it a real struggle to get to a higher level.  To be perfectly honest, when this happens I get frustrated and usually just say forget it and end the travel.  But, the strange thing is, even when I go to project in a positive, focused mindset, I'm still finding myself in a lower vibration and I'm not quite sure why.  I can when I truly have the desire can put myself at a higher level, but most of the time I don't feel like dealing with the bottom-feeders in the lower levels.  To be honest, they really don't distract me much anymore.  I know for the most part which ones are more bark-than-bite and which ones to get out of dodge. But regardless, they still find a way to be a nuisance and in my opinion aren't worth my time or effort to deal with, but I digress.  Attempting to talk to my spirit guide about the issue has been, to say the least, unfruitful.  She seems to want to be very shaded with this particular predicament. So, I'm kind of at a loss as to why the sudden change.

I only have one friend that has the ability to consciously Astral Travel and she says she's never had anything like that happen to her since her beginning days of projecting, so I'm kind of at a standstill right now.  Like I stated earlier, even when I'm going out with a positive mindset and direction, I'm still ending up in a lower level.  Nothing in my life has really changed recently, besides maybe some frustration with my recent Astral experiences, but I try not to focus on this "hiccup".

With all that said, anyone with experience in this matter know what might be going on?  I'm not sure how to say this without sounding a bit rude, but I mean no disrespect to the ones just learning in the community; I'm looking for serious advice from those that have a good deal of experience with Astral Travel.  However, I am open to all suggestions or theories.

Thanks in advance and hope for some guidance in this situation!

Cheers.

Can you describe what you mean by a higher vibration? How do you categorize your attitude/mood? Your worldview or beliefs about the world?  I'm just trying to get a picture here.
Also, how can you describe your 'lower vibration' projection?  Are you ending in unpleasant, drab, horrible, sad, or just 'plain' surroundings?  What happens when you end there?
Why?

Thanks for the reply.  Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology when I say vibration.  I mean the level or plane that I am at when I first exit.  I find myself at a lower level than usual as to where I'm more suseptible to negative entities and thought constructs.  When I'm at higher level, things are more vibrant lucid, and comforting and I rarely come across anything that could be considered negative.

My attitude and mood is mainly positive and calm when I exit.  If I'm in a bad mood or irritated,  I find that my projection attempts usually fail, as I have harder time letting go of the physical world.

I'm not sure what you mean by worldviews and beliefs.  You'll have to be more specific as I have many.

And as to what happens when I end up in a lower level;  I have to bring myself to higher plane before I start doing what I need to do during my trip.  I particularly dislike trying navigate while in a lower level for a few reasons.  I find myself less lucid and more suseptible to the antics of negative thought constructs and lower level entities.  I also feel like I lose some of my "astral senses".  At a lower level I feel like my vision is more like my physical bodies.  At the higher levels I feel like my senses are enhanced and I can feel everything around me, not physically see them.  I really hope that makes sense as it sounds confusing just reading it to myself.

Anyway, I hope that helps a bit.

I think we all needed to experience the lower planes per say. There are many lessons to be taught there as well.

Once you can handle and understand them, you can move on to other areas of learning.

That's why when you take this practice seriously, you will find there are many doors that lead to different realities/realms. Which ones you open, usually tell about who you really are at the moment. As you learn more about the NPR and travel there often, you will see the lights start to shine brighter!  :-)

I'm basically with Lionheart here.

The 'lower vibrational' areas, in my opinion, are not always something to be avoided.  There are a lot of fascinating things to learn at these levels, particularly about our own emotions and 'shadow self'.  Even after you've already traveled to what many people would deem higher realms, you can still learn a lot from the supposedly 'lower astral' travels.

Really, I don't feel that the non-physical reality is so linear as much of the new age and esoteric literature would have people think.  There's some wisdom to be found in the darkest of places, as well as deception in beings of supposed light, and some experiences that can't even be categorized in terms of duality.

Anyway, I've experienced that sort of thing too.  Sometimes, particularly if my manner of exit is not all that conscious, I may end up in a 'lower', not quite fully conscious state.  From what I've seen, this doesn't have a lot to do with positive or negative mindsets or affirmations.  It may even be affected by things such as; how tired you are or how busy you've been in physical life.

Hi,
If this is persistent you may have something you need to learn first. This will be a part of your training and whatever it is you'll have to work it out.
It may simply be an adaptation of what your experiences are like in the better environments. Your level of control and awareness would normally be far greater in these lower levels.
If you have any fear issues or a poor rejection of distractions, the perhaps this could be the reason why.
Have a think on the differences and find something either missing or what you wouldn't do in the better places you visit.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

What everyone else said.  I have been in what can be described as hell planes- I considered them to be a lesson in what happens when you die with a damaging belief system- it's more understandable when experienced  than when heard or read about.
When it comes to your worldview/beliefs, I was asking if you see the world as an extension of yourself, or as a separate person who can be 'trapped' or 'victimized'.  I find that when one has the belief that their existence here is 'a punishment' or 'disempowered', it doesn't matter how 'positive' they try to be, their experience is going to mirror their belief about reality and their place in it.
