New to Crystals, help me decide please

I've always been fascinated with crystals, lately I've been researching them to see how they would help me with Astral Projection, and life in general. But I am not sure which crystal is for me.
What I want to do is to just get 1 really good and beautiful crystal and make it into a pendant to carry around with me all the time.

I have a couple questions.

1: I heard you can only program ONE intent to a crystal, are there any crystals out there that can handle more than one intent?

2: Can you change a crystals intent? Like at night, it can help me Astral Project, but at day it can just protect me or help me keep my mind at a higher awareness?

3: If I buy a crystal and have it cut, so it looks nice and is changed to a nice shape, will that affect it in any way? I just don't want to keep it messy looking and I want to make it look better so I can put it as a pendant to keep with me.

4: I can't choose between Amethyst, Quartz, and Ametrine
Honestly, Ametrine looks incredible. But I am not sure which is best for my purposes and which would be strongest.

^Is that sized crystal good enough? Or does it have to be bigger to have an effect on me/do anything?

1.  You can program ANY intent into ANY item you wish.
2.  Yes, you can use your Intent to change the Intent of whatever it is you're working with. 
3.  Some people will say yes... I say they're crazy.    Use a twig for all it matters... what's important is what YOU think.  It's YOUR Intent after all.
4.  Historically, different crystals are said to do different things... again, that's mostly based on the Intent of the person who originally used them.

Do you see what I'm getting at with INTENT here?

What's important is your Intent... not what tool you're using.

I'm not into crystals but I do believe there is plenty of data to suggest that they have amazing properties.

Someone will come around and help you in that direction but in the meantime, I'd suggest not spending a lot of money on anything that you're unsure of.

An alternative is that you go to a minerals store yourself and pick up some stones. If you get a feeling or connection from any then buy them. It's a way of researching for yourself with the hands on approach. Its ok reading about this but you're filling your head with other peoples ideas.
They may be very precise in their findings but hands on is far better.

I do this often myself. All Rocks harness energy. As Xanth has already said, your intent is the most important here. I use Crystals and unique stones of all kinds myself. Some quite large. I have Crystals in my Pyramids and my Egyptian Healing Rods as well.

But, I would never get into the mindset that you had to "program" a single intent into it. They are just "tools" of a sort to me.

I would never buy a Stone online, simply because I haven't felt it's vibration myself yet. You will always find a good stone to work with by sensing with your hands. Just close your eyes when you pick one up and feel what you feel, see what you see! 

Many years ago I was in Merlin's Castle in Salem, Massachusetts. I was walking around the store when a gentleman with long hair started to follow me. I thought this was strange. He then walked up and gave me a string necklace with a unique stone on it. He said to wear this every day of my life and hold it dear. I asked him how much I owe him for it, he said nothing. He said it is a gift and that because of it being gift, it empowered it even more.

I have worn that every day since. It is a stone with 2 separate Rubies inside of it that become visible by a simple droplet of water.

I think you can "program / charge" any crystal with a "wish / intent" and it works as an amplifier. It has been said correctly above that your own intent is the most important thing, it is still you doing the work - but a crystal might be a tool to strengthen or help focus. There are "specialist" stones perhaps for certain "tasks" but you can possibly use any chrystal for anything, not sure though.

Crystals bring light emissions into coherence. Given that we are (emitting) light, too, it might well have a scientific base which will be discovered one day. I believe some do bring your "body field" into coherence which makes intent more clear and stronger then.

I watched this talk of a physicist and consciousness researcher (kind of the German Tom Campbell   ) M. Koenig, who is working with crystals recently where he describes his experiments with crystals creating coherence, it's done in the general framework of healing. (Of course, as usual, most mainstream scientists did take note of his work and are enthusiastic about replicating and examining his research immediately to bring mankind forward...   ...)

I have watched a few of his Youtube interviews and read a bit of his theory as well. I believe he knows what he is talking about.

...and yes, Crystals are definitely powerful amplifiers. That's why I use them in my practice.

Intent + Amplification = a much better chance of achieving your said goals!

I find it interesting that we used to have much higher levels of crystal and other minerals broken down by the water we ingested.

Now everything is filtered.

In the state of Texas, if your city wants a "superior" label on it's municipal water supply, it must have three different filter systems.

And then there is bottled water that is supposedly the best of all.

I wonder what we are missing out on if anything at all now.
