Hey everybody. I wanted to see what you think of this. Stress is always around it seems. Even subtle stress. (Not right now I will get to that in a minute) but do you think stress is 90% of all illness? 10% of the rest being free radicals? Chemicals etc...just wanna see what you think. I ask because I just got home from my therapist. The temperature is perfect in my room. I turned on reggae music which is so calming for me... Took a little hit of cannabis and did progressive muscle relaxation. The lights are off... And am not in the covers of my bed but just covered with a soft blanket. I don't think I have ever been this relaxed in my life. My limbs are numb, my breathing is all abdominal. Every muscle in my body is so relaxed I feel like I'm wrapped in a warm loving light. I kept opening my eyes because I never felt this before. At first I was like what is going on? I must be on a whole other level of relaxation. It's beautiful..my body has never experienced this. My heart rate rests at 100 always. I took it now and its 67. That's wonderful... I only use cannabis to relax and destress. I don't use it to help with projection. I make sure its not in my system when phasing or working on Clairvoyance etc. But if I just want to relax....oh my god. I'm lucky enough I live in Colorado so I have my card.I don't use it in public. When I get home and its relax time though... My god I am in heaven. It lasts about 3 hours... Got a lot of time on my hands. I don't know it just feels like my body is saying this is what every body needs... I feel wonderful.

Do you think stress contributes to most illnesses?

If you extend stress a little by definition by saying it is the ("stressed") human psyche in general, then yes I would agree. And normal "stress" alone (psychological as well as physical) already is the very main contributor to disease, let alone stressful life situations that cause fear, grief, sorrow, etc.

"Diseases of man are not caused by any substance (...), they are solely spirit-like (dynamic) derangements of the spirit-like power (the vital principle) that animates the human body"
- S. Hahnemann, 1833 AC (Organon Of Medicine, 5th ed.)

What's being said by this old quote is that the 'emotional' and 'mental' body must be healthy too. If they are not then this state causes the 'physical' body (aspects) to produce illness. If you are in balance (not stressed, not in 'derangement') or in total 'coherence' with the universe or your Higher Self, then you normally should not get sick. (Strong and sudden outside forces as causation factors of course being an exception, e.g. intoxication or trauma by violence / accidents).

No, I don't think the relationship is 90-10, but it is quite significant and understated. I would guess maybe 40-65% of illness is attitude and mind states. There may be some people for whom mental states are a more important indicator, but those people are probably statistical outliers such as monks who focus on mental development for long times.

A huge part of illness is genetic components and predispositions, and another big factor is environmental exposures such as radiation or carcinogens or force fields such as the magnetic fields around electrical equipment. And also far on top is diet, which is probably only slightly less important than attitude, but more important than genetics or pharmacology for disease incidence and effects.

There is a kind of divide right now between Allopathic and Osteopathic medicine in the west; the Allopathic consists of things like surgeries, pharmaceuticals, and physical examinations. The Osteopathic encompasses all those things, but then also includes psychology and diet as important factors. The funny thing is, our society highly favors Allopathic practice, and denegrates Osteopathy, even though Osteopathy is more inclusive (for instance, the worst Allopathic medicine schools are about as selective as the best Osteopathic ones, so the assumption is that Osteopaths are flunky Allopaths, lol, whereas they actually have the superior educations.)

I have to admit that you come up with some very interesting thread titles (and topics) that don't lie.

For instance, a thread titled "Fell off a cliff and had a good day" doesn't have much chance of delivering on both subjects but coming from you, I know it would.  8-)
It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.

PhaseshiftR1111, I was just over at Craig Tice's site reading some of his articles on AVS and I found this one.

I think it will may help you and some others here too. It seems that Craig was once in "your situation" as well.
