Should I just practice saying mantras all the time and then one time I might just fall asleep and AP or what? I don't get the whole mind awake body asleep thing. They say I shouldn't be tired because that will just make me fall asleep, but then how in the heck do I get my body to sleep? How do I get my body to go to sleep when I'm not tired. Even better, can you just do this while fully awake in meditation? Is there anyone that can just be walking down the street and do this fully awake?

Basically what you're looking for is to achieve sleep paralysis. Now, what's probably going to happen is you're going to be unsuccessful by over-thinking it. So don't do that. The only thing you need to do to achieve this "mind awake, body asleep" thing is the same thing you do every night before you go to bed. The only difference is that you need to be aware and in a state of mind where you don't lose consciousness. That sounds a lot harder than it really is. Don't stress yourself my trying to ignore body signals like swallowing or itching a really bad itches. Doing that is unnatural. Sleep paralysis is natural. So why try to induce something unnaturally when the thing you're trying to induce is so natural? This is where most people fall short. In my experience, ignoring these "signals" is helpful, but only to a certain point. If you are feeling an unbearable itch, or you have to swallow in order not to choke to death on your own saliva, just do it and continue with your inducement. Meditation works too, but getting out of body via meditation is a little harder than going into this "sleep paralysis" state. Of course this is just my experience, you could be very different than me.

Forget the body has to be asleep.   That is not necessary and sounds confusing.    Try to get comfortable and relax your body.    That is all you need to do.   By saying mind awake is the same as saying do not fall asleep.   I will be awake.    You have to concentrate and not to fall asleep.   It takes practice.   Practice meditation and do slow deep breathing for a while.   That will get you very relaxed.    You mind has to be relaxed.   If you are thinking of irritating thoughts ap usually does not work.

In my experience, that is not true. I can project regardless of negative/irritating thoughts.

She said irritating thoughts, and I fully agree.

While you might be a master of your mind and can work through those kinds of issues, the fact remains that "most" beginners to this have a hard time when they have problems on their mind.

Trying your best to rid yourself of irritating thoughts is a good first step.

Forget about your body being asleep, Being in a deep relaxation state will do, Then you can start do some visualisation to move forward, Doing some visualisation will take your mind off how your body feels and will make you not "aware" of it.
