Hypnogogics/visuals with personal meaning?

I've only had a handful of experiences to date, with most of my early ones being mainly "visuals" with no desire by me to try going OBE yet.  I've read that they should just be ignored, you shouldn't read too much into them, etc. but one I had seemed very specifically directed to me. I have a medical condition and it was the subject of this short albeit weird visual and along with it I heard a cartoonish voice that mentioned it specifically.   I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this.

And are hypnogogics/ visuals used interchangeably?  I thought I understood the word hypnogogics meaning things you see before you fall asleep, and visuals are what can immediately precede OBE. In my case they are always immediately after the vibrations stop.

After the vibrations they can still be considered Hypnogogics, maybe more importantly, various types of exit sensations. It can get quite varied!

Don't be thrown off track; just remain the impassive, unemotional observer. This is likely your subconscious self throwing up stuff to challenge your intention to project. That's the first barrier...

Enjoy the experience and move on past it...

Are we having fun yet?

as I've said in this thread.
Also the first time you can see your body as pure light rays.
You really enter your consciousness.
The partial becomes complete; the crooked, straight; the empty,
full; the worn out, new. He whose (desires) are few gets them; he
whose (desires) are many goes astray.

Kzaal,

I like a lot of what you have to say.

An honest question: I haven't seen my body as pure light rays.

How does that come about?

I don't know how to explain it, it depends at the speed you're spining I think, my first time I really had to try hard to get out of my body, I did so many research on astral projecting before some people told me I could do it by telling my spirit to spin on my horizontal feet axis so I started slowly until I could separate completly (except the silver cord).
That's how I felt it.

I was never told anything, much less how to spin. Interesting; the technique seems useful in various situations.

The variety of experiences is incredible. Thanks for sharing!

I get your understanding...it's just different from mine. All good!

The light body, what did you percieve?
My first encounter was in '74 through intent to see it, a concious projection of sorts.
There was no spinning at all.
Interesting though.

I didn't perceive much as it was one of my first experiences but I did heard a popping sound when I separated.
Mind can make funny things when you're trying stuff like that for the first time lol.
Wish I could provide more info but it was very brief, it's just as I was spinning that I started glowing.
When I separated it immediately stopped.
It also felt very scary at first when I started spinning because I didn't know you could spin from your feet and horizontally...

The tactile sensations are quite impressive when the conditions are perfect.
I may try spinning just for the experience.
Can't say I've ever heard/felt the pop though.
The light body I saw was blue in colour with sparkling bits of other colours moving within.
I was a foot or so above my physical.

I would love to hear more about this spinning technique. Are the lights that you are seeing a result of "dizziness" experienced just after spinning, like we would get when spinning in this physical realms here or is this some kind of "virtual" spinning?

Quite often when using a tactile focus, I will start a spinning circle around my physical body. This is very helpful when getting a good NP focus to deepen. But I have never tried to "spin" on a axis though. Although I have been grabbed by the ankles, lifted upside down and spun through my ceiling following a bout of SP (Sleep Paralysis). I was seeing, while spinning, some kind of a Vortex of colors. Instead of seeing it through, I created a intent to be in my tranquil beach scenario.

When using a visualization, I prefer to use a "spinning top" (Child's toy), just to see what it will morph into. I have seen it morph into a pair of spinning Figure Skaters though, all kinds of unique things.

But, I don't ever look back at my physical body. My intent has always been to expand and experience beyond that.

It did feel a little confusing, after the vibrations occurred I started slowly going out of my body on both sides, trying to do like if you're swinging on a rope, left, right, left, right until I had a good momentum and I just kept going like this.  Then I did my first circular rotation around my feet and it just kept going it was weird cause my bed is next to the wall so I was going in and out of the wall all that time.
it lasted quite a long while all I did is let it happen and well what felt like 1min later I was spinning really fast and I just started glowing brighter and brighter until I was almost pure light.

It felt really weird cause while I was spinning I could see myself glowing, when I left my body I watched it and I could see the light where I was spinning still there. Then it dissipated and I was AP'ing.

I only did it once because I had troubles separating from my body back then so I read a lot of different methods and in one they told me I could spin on myself any way I want until the momentum pushes you out of of your body. That's how I did it, but I found others way to do it later cause this one was really weird lol.
