swirling waves of darkness... anyone else?

... I always see this as I'm starting to "shift".  It's one of those things that is consistent with every OBE I've had.  Always the beginning stage... "blast off", so to speak.  Does anyone else experience this effect too?  What/Where the hell is it?

In detail:  eyes shut - blackness w/ millions of little bright dots that are vibrating.  Focus on one area.  Waves of black smoke/inkblot-like --- begins swirling across my field of view... more intense as time goes by.  All the while seeing different shapes and flashes of light in it's background.  And the "feeling" that I'm about to go for a ride.

This may be your personal interpretation of what many of us experience as the 3 Dimensional Void/Blackness.

Most explorers experience an infinite flat blackness that has some kind of indescribable depth to it (hence the 3D). A smaller percentage get the multitude of pinpoint lights as you describe.

When expressing an Intent or request to shift to a new perspective, most experience a shift in the 2 dimensional quality which attracts their attention. This may be represented by your swirling black/inkblot smoke experience.

It's very good that you notice the 'feeling' associated with the experience. Getting familiar with and learning from this 'feeling' in all Astral experiences is beneficial and necessary to your progress.

I get the void with the millions of tiny lights too.  I have seen the smoke at times in certain circumstances.

Slightly OT but , you can reach your hands out for help? Why did this never occur to me?!

And, I'm going to try the rubbing hands request thing cos I'm still trying to find the best way to navigate the void. I've been trying to make myself less of a 'physical' presence out there and more of a point of consciousness type of thing. Thing is, I find that I'm more aware of my 'body' ~ its generally kind of contorted and its hard to let go. If I feel I'm 'allowed' to be physical then I think then it'll maybe alleviate a bit of the tension (I've a pretty big fear problem) and maybe help me progress further.

Also, yeah, lots of sparkly lights for me too. Like I'm in outer (rather than 'inner'!) space. Also I'm generally speeding through like a rocket. I'd like to hang out there a little but a scene always materialises as soon as I say 'I wanna stay here!'
