Hi all,

Hoping someone can shed some light on a feeling I occasionally get, when trying to AP. I'll get pretty relaxed, into the mind awake/body asleep state and then it'll feel like I'm turning - even thought I'm lying in bed and still. I did think this was perhaps some sort of unconscious attempt at separation but I've tried letting it do it's thing but to no avail. It just becomes uncomfortable and I'll get up.

Any ideas?

Hi.
This is a very common feeling for me when I meditate and/or try to project. For me it is a sign of being in a state of deep relaxation where I lose my proper perception of the physical world. Added to the feeling of rotations I get other funny perceptions like my nose or my belly growing to a monstrous size or  hanging upside down. This is as far as I have ever got so far, though. As well as you, probably, I get too excited as it gets stronger and stronger and even though I try to calm down, not to think too much and concentrate on my mediation practice instead, eventually I lose it and the sensation ceases. Positive thing is that with practise I manage to hold on to this feeling longer and longer to a point where it gets more and more non-physical.

Unlike you, however, I find this experience both cool and positive, for it is a sign I am onthe right track. At least I think so. Many people say this is the turning point where you start to perceive NP reality or that the spinning sensation means that your NP body actually spins. I have even heard it is a sign of the root chakra being opened. Dunno. But I would say keep at it.

BTW It has been a long time since I last wrotehere so hi to everyone again. :-)

Hello, i would be speculating, but i think you are a little "wondered", a little "exited" about the turning when you get the feel, i know this can be easier said than done, but, you have to "get used to" the feeling, as if it were something you are used to do and feel everyday, so its nothing that causes wonder and attentiveness from you. if this happens, you are (subcounsciously) activating your mind, and you require your mind to be just the opposite wich is silent, still, empty. Even a little feeling of joy for having come to the next step (during the process) can make your effort a failure. altough you will be learning and getting yourself "used to" the feel/ings, which is why practice makes perfection. so even if you fail, you win because you learn something new.

Use it by accelerating it in something that could create the feeling percieved.
If you interact and speed it up you could imagine being thrown at speed. This may work, have no fear too, it's only a sensation and nothing harmful.

If your focus turns to your sensations your " exit" is screwed. You have to basically ignore the funky stuff and keep going inward. If your focus turns out at that point your going to go to sleep

Great advice all. Thanks for the support!

Agreed on any physical world influence. These have to be totally removed or you do stay tied resulting in a fail.

If the sensation itself is non physical it can be used. I've done this many times and it worked. On occasion I'll rest and typically the sinking feeling appears. I make this feeling prominent and increase the fall rate. Eventually creating a visualisation that matches the sensation which in this one is skydiving and I'll be out in the clouds with full awareness then the rest is an experience.
