Ah, yes.  Neon Genesis Evangelion was quite an interesting series.  I for one, despite all my friends warnings that it wasn't the typical anime, did not see the end coming.  It was kind of anti-climatic, I thought.  However, watching The End of Evangelion (one of the movies) cleared up some of the answers (while adding more than there was to begin with).

I reccommend this series as well, but don't expect to get all of it the first time through.  It IS confusing, and poses many interesting questions.

As far as the "mind trip" scenes, they are the reason that "Neon Genesis Evangelion" and "Happy Fun Seizure Time" are now synonyms in my mind. [:P]

LOL that is way too true.

Those mind trip scenes are probably the most confusing parts of the entire series. Heck, they practically ARE the confusing side of the series.

And yes, the movie did answer questions while adding some more on [:P]. But EVA really is about formulating your own ideas and theories on the entire story. That's what makes it so great [:D].

And if you have the DVD of The End of Evangelion, watch for the part where you see lots of papers and stuff with Japanese on them. Apparantly those are parts of Hideaki Anno's death threat letters after he finished the series.[:P]

No amount of rigorous training, sitting and doing nothing, and clearing one's mind can help a man who hasn't overcome his doubts.

Ahh, Neon Genesis Evangelion : From a groundbreaking Sci-Fi that combined almost all the genres into one, to a spiritual/mental/religious masterpiece at the end.

I highly recommend this fantastic series to anybody on this forum. The story starts as what you would think as a typical Japanese science fiction, giant robots fighting some sort of alien until the end. But until you have seen it from first to last, picking up on several hidden details, and finally seeing the movie finales, will you appreciate this amazing work of art from Hideaki Anno.

I don't have any reviews or pictures like the post on Spirited Away, but you can do a google search if you're interested, or maybe I'll figure out how to post pictures soon.

N.B: For those who have seen Evangelion, did you ever notice that a lot of the "mind trip" scenes, like in The End of Evangelion were a lot like lucid dreams of some kind? I got reminded of OBE and lucid dreaming when I saw the movie again last weekend.
