Astral projected and visited a friend. Did he know that I was there?

I once astral projected and I was wondering around my own home at first, but then I thought about a a friend of mine that just got incarcerated and all of a sudden, it was like I had transported to his cell. But I was looking down onto him, and I could see him laying on his back, with an arm behind his head and he was wearing a shirt and a pair of shorts. Next thing I know I was holding his hand but I was still floating. He was holding my hand too and he smiled and mumbled something like "You must've known that I was thinking about you"... This threw me off and I woke up confused. I'm wondering if he knew that I was there? Did he feel my presence? Could I have visited him in his dream? I want to ask him about what he was wearing but I don't want to creep him out. Help!
