Human intelligence (IQ) ... from the mind (soul), from the brain (genes)?

I believe human intelligence is a characteristic of the mind, it stays with the soul, and its development is one of the important goals in each incarnation.

From what I've read we are born with an IQ that doesn't suffer major fluctuations over one's life, under normal health circumstances.

On the other hand I've watched a couple of documentaries, that presented cases when individuals that suffered major traumas acquired new and exceptional gifts in disciplines as mathematics, painting, music, for which they didn't show even some interest before.

Is the brain only a limiting factor of our soul's intelligence, or more?

I've noticed behavioural characteristics in some individuals that are similar to those of certain relatives from previous generations, not only parents, but aunts and uncles, grandparents, or further.

Does the genetical inheritance play a role in the intelligence of an individual? Which and how?

I belief our Brain is the "interface" or the filter to which we experience things through. This would make sense if a person that encounters a major trauma all of a sudden has some kind of "enhanced" ability. Their filter or interface was interrupted and some times even re-wired during their traumatic experience.

But there are 2 different forms of "smarts". One being the text book intelligence and the other being "common sense". I have met quite a few people that have one, but not the other. I think that might have to do with the "right brain/left brain" equation though.

Yes I believe it can be. That is likely in part why we must reincarnate to evolve our souls. Though from what I understand from many sources is that your intelligence in the afterlife is much higher than what it is here on earth. But there is almost always room for improvement.

Yes I agree with everything you said here.

I think you mean genetic inheritance here. This is something I learned about in college quite a bit. I've taken psychology classes and from what I've learned there is both a strong genetic and environmental factors that influence intelligence. So, yes genetics play a huge role. But also environmental influences are a much bigger contributor to intelligence than what a lot of people realize. This comes down to the old nature versus nurture debate. Most people these days though have come to the realization that both nature and nurture play a role here. Their just debating the degree to which nature versus nurture matter. Nobody is saying genetics is the only player here, or environment and nurture is everything.

Here are some of the things you can do to increase your children's intelligence to help them beat the odds. I'll give you some advice from my recent child development and child psychology class.

Talk to them a lot. Read to them a lot. Open ended play is very critical for children. Children learn language before they start talking. So that is why it's vital to talk to children that can't talk yet. There are many connections in their brain that needs to get wired up, and the paths that are stimulated the most while young and growing up lead to real boosts in their intelligence. Also giving proper praise for a job well done is important. So instead of saying "wow your so smart." Instead say "wow you must have worked really hard to do that." The first saying makes them think their abilities are set in stone. But if you praise effort and hard work then they realize that they can shape their learning and success by using effort and hard work. Also it's very important to limit children's screen time especially when their young, including TV, phones, and computers. Constant use of the devices for a developing brain is very harmful. Giving them a wide variety of challenging activities as they grow is important. I know I didn't have to type all that I just wish more people knew about it. ;)

And I agree with Lumanza on his take with this.
Hope that helps.
