Why horror ?

People say you feel that because you are out of your body and then you get inside so fast... feels like you are falling.

jilola

Both are good signs. Let them happen and enjoy the ride.
The falling sensations is usually attributed to the energy/astral body (I still mix those) coming loose and preparing to ecit.
The sudden jerks are hypnogogic jerks and are also related to the conscious mind drifting away from the physical.

I have also had my astral body jerk out of my physical.  Feels cool... and floaty ;)

Falling horror? I always thought it felt good, personally. =/ It makes me feel like im actually getting somewhere...heh.

I've gotten that tons of times, and I really don't like it either.  It's when you're deep in thought before falling asleep and suddenly you slip into a daydream of that thought...then you fall in the "daydream" and you JERK awake REALLY fast.  So fast that your legs respond to self-defense mode to prepare for the landing.  What's worse is having that happen in a real dream as you wake up with a charlie horse and it hurts like CRAP.

As jilola wrote, it can occur apparently when the energy body is coming loose from the physical. However, it can also occur when the energy/astral body is reintegrating with the physical. A number of AP/OBE books mention this sensation. It can be kind of unsettling at first until you realize what is happening, then it's ok. [8D]

When that happens to me, I am usually starting to dream that I am driving a car and then something happens that makes me hit the brakes fast.  Then my real life leg jerks as if it is hitting the brakes and I wake up.  It hasn't happened in a while, though.

I wonder if when I unconsciously astrally project, I take an astral car with me...

Theres a ride at Carowinds in usa called Drop Zone. It drops you 160 feet in a chair and starts slowing down very close to the ground. If the feeling of falling is horrible, why do people pay to ride?

They pay for it to happen, that's why. Imagine you're on your be bed, and then *bang*, you seem to jump a foot in the air. The surprise of it is of horror, especially if one doesn't know where it's coming from, and even then it is still annoying.

What I believe it is: The onset of sleep and the realization of it causes you to shock yourself back to wakefulness. This means that it would be very very difficult to use them to your advantage because you can never see them coming(think of a bee stinging you and you never saw it coming at you).

I dont know about you, but this week would be a lot more fun if a few random times spread through the week I would be instantly transported to the top of Drop Zone and immediately dropped.

Sometimes my awareness snaps back to a full state of alertness for no real reason at all.

Tisha

At least you don't get nauseated when it happens!  I do.  And I hate amusement park rides, for this obvious reason.

This one time I meditated, I focused on disorienting myself. It got to a point, where I was in a black state of total disorientation. I have no idea how I did it, but it was a very, very, very nice state to maintain. The feeling of continuous, all-round vertigo/dizziness/disorientation, without the feeling of moving at all.

Leviiathan

I should add that it was a different type of disorientation/vertigo that one would normally experience in trying to enter trance using the falling method. I think this came about when I was trying to mess up my awareness to confuse my sense of direction.

There's times where I'll be laying one way, then I regain my full awareness (opening my eyes, whatever) and realizing that I'm actually laying in reverse (head on the other end of the couch).

If someone does a FAQ on OBEs, this should be in it. :)

You know when you are drifting off to sleep, occasionally you suddenly feel like you are falling and snap awake instantly (it only lasts like 1/2 of a second to 1 second usually).. what is happening there exactly?

And also when I have tried going to sleep, a leg or an arm have VIOLENTLY jerked out of the blue in one direction.  What do you think that could also be?
