The orbs are the dead, visiting on this plane for whatever reasons that they have.  They could be spirit guides, dead relatives, people who have an affinity for your house, or whatever.  In houses that are "haunted" photographs of orbs of light have been made by investigators. When you are dead, you don't need to hold the shape of the physical body anymore.

Apparently New Yorker's are seeing hundreds of orbs around the Trade Center site.  

I have a hypothesis about the orbs.  I think that the orbs can be everything from departed dead, to guides, to even angels ( I think angels can take on many forms depending on what their recipent will consider acceptable).

The orbs can change shape and size in my experience although most times they are circular when they are flying around.  But as they increase in size usually they dim out a bit.  My hypothesis is that the brighter the orb is for a set size the more it is connected to the 'Source'.  In other words an angel or guardian has a brighter light then a newly departed dead (Mother Teresa excluded I am sure she had a blinding light).  I have only had one large orb experience in my life and am pretty sure it was either a guide or maybe my guardian angel.  My husband's large orb experience was also to forewarn of a great tragedy that shocked his entire family to the core.

What are your thoughts?

Oh! Have you ever entertained the thought the maybe the dead know you have the ability to see them and are hanging around hoping they can communicate with you?

Are these ORB's perfectly defined circles? I saw something that was more like a storm cloud. Could this be an orb?
I was staying at my Aunts house. Sleeping on the couch, I awoke around 2:30am. I looked up and about 2 feet below the ceiling there was a dark cloud about 14 inches in diameter. It had orange and blue electrical discharges like miniature lightening inside. I thought I accidentally left some of my astral outside my body, so I stood up and stuck both my hands into it. I immediately felt sharp needle like pains in my hands and forearms, but I also felt an incredible rush of energy in my body. The cloud dissapated, I sat down and looked at my hands and there were tiny sparks flowing across my finger tips.
Does anyone know or had this experience of tiny storm clouds? And was this an orb?

I believe ORB's can take many shapes, in fact of the photo's I have seen there have been quite a variety.

I would suggest that what you encountered would fit the general description of an ORB.

I am interested in the relationship, if any, between ORB's and high concentrations of Ectoplasm in the areas in which they appear. Entities, including I believe projectors, with high Etheric energy, and entering an area of high Ectoplasmic content, can be seen as the classical white cloud type appearance of the typical "ghost".

I wonder if ORB's are a similar phenomena?

While I have seen orbs with my own eyes, I also am rather skeptical of digital camera pictures with orbs, even though they routinely appear in my pictures from my house.

Yesterday I was riding a stationary bike. I was wearing glasses. I was starring out a window. Suddenly, I noticed an "orb" within my frame of sight. But it was not actually in the room, it was quite obviously a light refraction of some sort on my glasses. I could reproduce it easily by looking exactly in the same spot. I could make it dance back and forth by merely moving my head from side to side.
Perhaps there is a miscroscopic ding in the glass that picks up light when at a very specific angle. This was a fact! My glasses were creating an orb in my line of sight. This was not paranormal. Yet the orb looked identical to the many orbs seen on web sites like Art Bell's web site.

Consequently, I wonder if many orb photos from digital cameras are the same thing. This does not negate the reality of orbs, just keeps the topic honest. Of course, I do not expect my little post here to change anything, and people will continue to flood the internet with light refraction photos from their digital cameras as proof of orbs. Frankly, I am now of the opinion that if I did not see the orb with my own eyes, then I find it suspect in a photo. Yet the orb digital camera crusade will probably continue to grow and flourish.

I too am using the digital camera now to look for orbs.

I started out with regular camera which picked up much less.

I have only photographed for orbs when 'feeling' the presence of something. If nothing was felt I usually picked up no orbs.

With the camera it is different. I will pick up orbs when no feelings correspond. This baffled me in the beginning.

I asked via e-mail a professional ghost hunter how to tell the difference between actual ghost and dust particles. He responded saying that dust is picked up four inches in front of camera.

since then I have played around with this since pics are easily erased. I find that most the orbs I catch on the camera have a followed scenario that I can judge now without falling back on just feeling.

Now when Orbs do show up...and they don't always show up....I look to see if they follow gravity. Dust will follow gravity. I look to one of my cats. If she is acting a certain way and I get orbs this is not dust.

If the orbs are captured around one person and not any one else in several pics and at different times, this is not dust.

If I do have spiritual contact other than orbs such as one night a candle was lit by a 'visitor' and one visitor would wake me up playing the most wonderful music on a piano. Some times they speak to me. One woke me up by touching playfully me nose and when I opened my eyes I saw the orb fly through the wall.

If I get an orb while the furnace is blowing I try again later when it is not and then again when it is.

If someone has moved and orbs show up I will take another when the person is still for about fifteen mins then take again making them do the same stirring as before such as flopping down on a chair or bed depending.

I have also tried to get photos of the OBE. this has been difficult and not enough yet has been done to share these photos but the one pic I have so far gotten seems to show the OBE in progress...but then it could be lighting so more needs to be taken and studied on this but I have not had the time as yet.

When I finish these particular pics and the results are good I would love to share them with you if you would like?

Thanks for your interesting post

I must say, using a digital camera with a time delay to capture a projection "out of body" would be very interesting indeed. A projector who could project at will could do this. It would also provide us with some clues regarding ORB's vis a vis OBE, etheric energy, ectoplasm etc..

If you have images on a server, you can include them in a post by placing the URL betweem image tags. It would be really great to have alot of people with various photos of this type, we could start a sub-category just for such pictures is enough were available. If you don't have access to a server, send the images to me by email, and I will put them on the main server. Only on-topic pics though, no Big Foots, Chuka's or Jersey Devils please

If digital video is much the same thing as digital photography (?) then why does not anybody record the motionsof these orbs? It would provide a clue on the origin of these orbs if one could study whether they seem to move just casually like artifacts would or if they move around in a more diversified, purposeful way.

Indeed that is an excellent idea! Leaving a digital video recorder running in a room frequented by ORB's.

I am not sure whether the digital media is the same though. Still digital cameras use SIM cards, but can operate at very high resolutions indeed - probably partly why it works where conventional photographic film does not.

Has anyone tried this? FastWalker - you seem to have ORB's reliably floating around your home - do you have access to a digital movie camera at all?

Does anyone have theories and/or personal experiences regarding orbs of light? I do not mean in the "ufo" manner of speaking, but more in terms of orbs that appear around people, inside dwellings, etc.

I have seen them much of my life, even prompting visits to a doctor as a young man to ensure it was not a symptom of a degenerative eye ailment. No problems in that area. But I've always seen lovely sky blue orbs that float around me for about 5 seconds and then vanish. On rare occasions I've seen milk white orbs do the same thing. Once they disappear, I've tried to reproduce the phenomena by shifting my position and seeing if some light refraction could explain it. Never could. In fact, one night when attempting to reproduce the event by moving my head around like an idiot (catching the hall ceiling light), the white orb appeared again on the other side of me, as if to say "Hello! I'm over here now, mate!"

Are they souls of the dead, paying a little call, spiritual reminders to "wake up", some undetermined eye problem (nerve ending quivers?).
