Hello, Nje789. I have same problems, just can't go where I want to make my projection usefull. I guess you'll gain more control with more experience. Perhaps level of control depends on some other factors. Who knows?

When I OBE/project I better controll my movment, heh! I guess it takes many practices for you to controll your self the right way.

TRY THIS: go to a place in you house, and examine it careful. Observe every detail of, say, your living room. Take careful note of everything in it. Really get into checking every detail of it. Then, when you project, you can easily create the place in your minds eye and project there....[xx(]->[:(]->[:)]->[^]->[:D]->[8D]

Keep trying!

been there tried that![:P] Remember, if it DOES NOT work then its no problem.

Um, why did everyone that responded ignore my first problem?
I know it's possible for even a n00b projector to fight off these things when they attack you(I did it at least once), so I can't help but wonder how much the people in these forums really know about what they're talking about..

This could be energy you are feeling. Do you do any energy work? Developing your energy body may help with this problem. Sometimes you just feel weird energy sensations that can feel like you are being grabbed, poked, etc. It could also be that you are becoming slightly aware of your physical body and that you are feeling pressure on your neck that is on your physical body. Try to make yourself as comfortable as possible and focus more on the astral environment. Unless this is something that is really preventing you from doing things just ignore it.

If you are new to projecting I suggest not worrying about going any where inparticular yet. Just learn how the astral environment works, get use to it, and develop your skills where ever you find yourself. As you learn you should learn to go where you want, but I am not an expert in this so take it however you wish. Going to the akashic records takes a lot of skill from what I have read. Then even more skill to understand what you experience. You may not be ready to go there yet, so keep practicing and learning and do not get frustrated because an experience does not go as you wish. Go with whatever happens and enjoy the experience.
Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

This is NOT energy I'm feeling, because I felt slightly drained of energy when I got up after this happened.
I was dreaming, then it became lucid when I looked at my surreal hand, and as I stared at it, after five or so seconds I was attacked, and I couldn't get away, then after a while I woke up.  I was fine when my dream wasn't lucid.. why was I attacked after a few seconds when I became aware I was dreaming?

I can't do a text-book projection yet, I feel I'm close, but in the meantime I've done a few sort of self-triggered automatic obe's in the early morning, and I have two problems when in the astral:
1:Sometimes something grabs me by the back of my neck, and it's hard to make it stop pestering me without wasting most of my projection time, or just waking up.
2:and when that doesn't happen, I find myself lost all the time, I can never seem to go where I want to go, I'll always warp somewhere else when I try to go to someplace useful like the akashic records.
