Soulfire

I've never tried to visit someone who very recently died.  I have gone to see my father several times since he passed away a year ago though.  My problem is that when I see him, I usually get very emotional and within just a few seconds I am back in my body.

I'm ok when I just observe him, but when I try to interact with him the same thing alway happens.  He seems surprised and excited to see me, and then I get overwhelmed with an overpowering combination of joy and at the same time profound sadness from missing him so much.  And then I am back in my body (usually crying).  I will note that in physical life I am not an overly emotional person, but in the astral my emotions can seem MUCH more powerful.  I hope some day to be able to communicate meaningfully with him, but it has not happened yet.

hmm... well, i a friend of my mom's said that a recently deceased person will spend about 180 days in this special place, learning things (i wonder what) and that they will be very busy during that time.  during that time, the relatives can burn a candle in front of a picture of the deceased to communicate with him/her.  i forgot what culture my mom said this tradition and belief was from... i think she said cambodian.

Phil,

From my experience one can usually contact the recently deceased, and although some seem to end up in situations where they're recuperating, what I've learned is that strongly held beliefs/desires seem to dictate where people go. For instance, people who believe that they sleep after death until a religious figure awakens them quite often are asleep in the nonphysical. Some who want nothing more than to continue, say, being burglars, go to places that are filled with like kind--other thieves. There are all manner of worlds that accomodate religious beliefs, desires (all created by human beliefs)...as well as places that aren't 'religious' at all, such as the afterlife world Bob Monroe found that apparently has only one law: no one can impose their will upon another.

Hope this helps,

Ginny

I have read about many experiences where out of body explorers have seen a certain part of the afterlife.  Some of them have witnessed sceneries in which people are at a park and many of them are chatting or reading books.  From these experiences the explorers got the distinct impression that these people were here relaxing from their life and contemplating what they wish to do next (ie progress further or live a physical life again.)

No one seems to doubt the fact that one can contact the deceased through astral projection, but very few talk about the "recently" deceased.

Dr. DeGracia says he believes that the recently deceased go to a special place within the astral plane where they can adjust to their new surroundings, something similar to a nursing home.

My father passed away unexpectantly two months ago from this Monday, I'm constantly wondering what he's going through right now.  (Though he just passed, this is NOT the main reason why I'm interested in OBE)
