and you haven't asked your parents to move so you could go to a 'REAL' school, yet?.... you've got will power......... and lots of it, to tolerate either 'IT' or all of this stuff that you're reading...... Dude.... Seriously.... Thats A) not morally proper OR correct. B) Those Methods inhibit modern Social experiences/lessons which can lead to a downfall of the person later in life. C) Comformity leads to social collaps when something faulty is found in the 'system'

* could go on for a few more minutes with rambling, but decides not to, becuase he is tired *

Those are a few of the things i feel wronged about....
If someone has the knowledge, and wants to do something, how far do you think they can go, if they lack the experience, and are unable to sustain the amount of effort needed to succeed?  ~ Self 2/25/2003

These are basic rules in every school.

beavis

"discriminating is not acceptable."

Does that include discriminating between right and wrong answers?

"Rule #3 Students must treat adults with respect"

Thats retarded. Why should adults get their own rule?

"Some of the behaviors that are inappropriate to a school setting are:

running, loudness, yelling, swearing, "just fooling around" and hugging."

Running is necessary to get to class on time, sometimes, and is fun. Whats

wrong with ooling around and hugging?

"Why? These behaviors are unsafe and inappropriate in school."

Running isnt unsafe on the schools football field, and neither is running

into somebody intentionally. Hypocrites.

"Rule #6 You may not skip school, leave school grounds during the day, or cut

classes."

What if you're sick or on an acid trip?

"Rule #7 You may not be tardy for school without a note."

I like that rule because it doesnt say you cant write your own note or that you have to have a good reason.

shadowatcher

good post, im glad you disliked the rules as much as I do.

beavis

I hate most rules. They're made by cowards who dont care about our rights.

shadowatcher

Rules are like the laws, except for kids. There training us in the obselete system.

beavis

You think adults dont have rules? Jobs have as many of them as your school, and they're just as dumb. But I did get away with drinking a beer in class yesterday. First time I ever did that.

These are the rules at my school. I know them well, having been punished for....well, most of them. This is the way they apear in the student handbook, I havent edited them at all. Tell me what you think about them plz!

Basic Rules

Rule #1A Disrespectful conduct such as bullying, name calling, teasing, ridiculing, displaying offensive graffiti, intimidating, or discriminating is not acceptable.

Rule #1B Tell individuals behaving in a disrespectful manner towards you or someone else that you want them to stop. Report the behavior if it does
not stop. Ignoring these situations is unacceptable.

Why? Such behavior, especially when it relates to a person's gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, disability, physical appearance or physical/mental capacity is unwelcome by recipients, hurts others and undermines our community. It takes courage to speak and assist someone in trouble, but if you do not, the behavior will continue.

Consequence A hearing will take place with the student, parent and an administrator.

Rule #2 Fighting is forbidden.

Why? Someone may be hurt. It is an act of violence. It creates disruption.

Consequence All students involved will be suspended for at least one
day.

Rule #3 Students must treat adults with respect. The school will not tolerate a student being rude to an adult, i.e., ignoring, talking back, or engaging in other negative behavior.

Why? Rules are made so that large groups of people can work and live together on a day-to-day basis. Common courtesy requires that we treat each other with respect.

Consequence Depending on the violation, the penalty will range from detention to expulsion from school. The parents will be notified, and a conference may be required.

Rule #4 You are expected to use the hallways and other areas of the school in a calm and orderly manner. Some of the behaviors that are inappropriate to a school setting are: running, loudness, yelling, swearing, "just fooling around" and hugging.

Why? These behaviors are unsafe and inappropriate in school.

Consequence The student may be assigned an administrative detention.

Rule #5 You may not go into anyone's personal property or into lockers assigned to others, or damage the school's or anyone else's property. This includes "popping lockers". You may not go into anyone else's computer files.

Why? It's wrong. You need to respect other people's property and privacy.

Consequence The main office and parents will be informed. Depending upon the degree of the infraction, a detention or suspension will result. The student may lose privilege to use school computers.

Rule #6 You may not skip school, leave school grounds during the day, or cut classes.

Why? You are missing classroom time. Attendance is vital to the primary function of our school. The school needs to know where you are.

Consequence The student's parents will be contacted. One administrative detention may be assigned for every hour that is missed. Repeat occurrences can lead to suspension.

Rule #7 You may not be tardy for school without a note.

Why? You do not start the day appropriately. You miss announcements. You could fall behind in your work.

Consequence A detention may be assigned by the homeroom teacher or academic team.

Rule #8 You are expected to follow the rules for the cafeteria; the rules are outlined under the "lunch program" section of your handbook.

Why? Following the rules creates an organized and pleasant place in which to eat. Disruptions and confrontations are avoided. The cafeteria is kept clean. Students leave the cafeteria ready to return to class and to learning.

Consequence Depending on the violation, the penalty will range from temporary exclusion from the cafeteria to detention or suspension.

Please tell me what you think of the rules!

My school is MORE strickter!

The thing I HATE is the dress code rules!

I am a stoner type of kid and the school do not want chains on peoples pants "because it could be used as a weapon". SCrew that man! Pens and pencils can be used as weapons, using the corners of your books could be used to poke eyes out, and many other things. So why single out chains? It is undoubtably a good rule that they ban firearms, replicas, and squrt guns. Cuse if they did not, Colibine would happen again. WE DO NOT WANT HISTORY REPEATING IT SELF!!!

beavis

jc84corvette, get your parents to complain that the school has potential weapons (that have useful school purposes) called pens. Also forks and chairs with any metal in them.

shadowatcher

Try asking your health teacher if god has a penis...[:P]

Jenadots

How about "Good manners are just good human relations."

Everyone has rules to follow.  Almost everyone has a boss or superior they work for. Most of these rules are the same in the workplace.

However, instead of a suspension for fighting and acting crazy, you will simply get fired. And/or sued for harassment.  And/or arrested for assault.

Welcome to Reality 101.  Of course, you will resist these rules.

Everyone does when they are a teenager.  It is expected.  And most of us remember fondly those times we broke the lesser rules and got away with it.

But in general, your school is just trying to maintain order for all the kids that are there.  It's nothing personal.  It's just business.

shadowatcher

Yeah, but why doesnt everyone, (all students teachers and parents) get together to make the rules. Not just the teachers?

beavis

^ because the rule makers have more money.

bonk RULES

jc84corvette

There is more people making rules in school. When rules are in the school's handbook, the superetendent*spelling* principle and a few teachers make those rules that you see in a hand book.

The rules that a specific teacher has in a specific room during school hours is fully up to the teacher.

shadowatcher

yeah, the US constitution was made by six rich guys....

beavis

The constitution is a good set of rules, but its not law now. It no longer holds up in court.

shadowatcher

yeah, but in the Civil war, thousands of people died to uphold it. Now we dont even uphold it in court?

Jenadots

Dear Beavis and Shadowwatcher:

Those rich dudes will one day hire you for a job.  That doesn't mean the rich are in any way morally superior to the rest of us, simply that if you value your paycheck, a bit of respect to everyone around you will be in order.

Secondly, kids do not make the rules because of the attitude expressed in the bright yellow square.

Some rules are stupid and annoying, especially to those of us who have to live by them. However, other rules are there to prevent anarchy and tyranny of the poddy-mouthed for whom Mr. Dictionary got lost long ago.  [:D]

It always tickles me to see the 20 and 30 something people with their own children and sounding exactly like their parents and teachers did when they were students.

I know, I know - you will never sound like that and will let your kids do anything they want to.

But......you will.  [:)]

jc84corvette

Very good post!

Rules/laws (some) are made to protect ourselves. Such as the speed limit, if you had a van full of your kids after a soccer game and you were going 45 and there is a teen in a Camaro that is doing 85 and by the time he gets to the rear of your car, something messes up and he bumps you wile going 95 and your van turns to the right very fast and your van flips.

n/a

rules for who?
the stupid ones, ignorant ones?
why, after allmost 5000 years anarchy is still a question?
because everyone likes it.
it is the most fair and honest system.
and it is more stable system of government,
then bureaucracy, Jenadots(like there is more of you)
"However, other rules are there to prevent anarchy and tyranny of thepoddy-mouthed for whom Mr. Dictionary got lost long ago."

untill, the stupid and the ignorant are gone,
we do not have to obey laws designed for them.
we are not stupid and perhaps someone is keeping us ignorant.
but you are just a pure little comformist, Jenadot,
a little ´poin´ in the hierarchy.
obsolete as your system you are defending.
the true word is Communication and co-operation.
nothing else.
no rules and laws for the simple peasants and Jenadots.
keep them locked in the museum of history!
pardon my English. (I understand 4 languages,
but I do not spell them all corectly.)

beavis

jc84corvette, I dont care if getting rid of speed limits causes more crashes. I'd rather have 4 steaks than 5 turds I must eat. Life is not so valuable that quality of life should be traded. Save your reply that "yes it is that valuable". I dont care.

I prefer anarchy to the USA's current system of government. I prefer the constitution over anarchy.

shadowatcher

The truth is, most rules arent to save lifes. MOST rules are to opress the underclass (most of America). The original constitution was created to ALLOW its rules to be broken. Thats why it allows for new ammendements to be created. It also encourages revolution during a bad government, and allows civilians the rights to weapons.

jc84corvette

The key word is MOST.

and that speed limit was just an example of many other rules/laws.

I perfer our government rather than Anarchy, I think it is gay.

Jenadots

Yes, my young friends, I am an old fart and a fuddy-duddy and somewhat of a conformist - but not as much as you might think or I wouldn't be a member of a forum like this one.

No, you will never find me rioting in the streets.  You will, however, find me working very hard in whatever way I can to make our world a better - and safer - place for you whether you like it or not.

So there![:P]

You are all fine young people, and I am so glad you are here.

beavis

how can it be better and safer at the same time?
