Hello Nick
I have heard that Lorber was connected to Bardon's teachers. I know Mekur Publishing has done a lot of research upon Bardon also. The only way to be sure is to read the books.
Contemporaries who studied together will always show a sort of dove tail effect in theories so that might be what they are talking about in the books.
  Enjoy Fraberto.

Greetings Nick,

I am sure you will enjoy Frabato, but be aware it was not written by Franz Bardon himself. It was mostly, if not completely written by one of his students and secretary Otti Votavova after his death. Franz Bardon only supplied the framework for the book and Otti Votavova apparently wrote the story line of the book as an occult novel.

There are many and varied opinions about the relevance of Frabato to the actual life, work and experiences of Franz Bardon, although the core facts are almost certainly correct being known by Otti. Some say it should be read as his biography, others say it is almost completely fabricated and should be read as a Zanoni type novel.

Either way, I am absolutely sure you will enjoy reading Frabato; I know I did [:)]

I am not at all sure about how Jakob Lorber could have influenced Franz Bardon, they were not contemporaries (Jakob Lorber was born in 1800), and not in the same field as far as I know - Jakob Lorber was a mystic. But I would certainly be interested to hear of any cross influences between the two.

With best regards,

Adrian.

Adrian & Nita,

Thank you both for your comments regarding my query. I do value your opinions very much. The book Frabato the Magician caught my attention from a recent small catalog I received from Merkur Publishing. My feeling was that I would enjoy reading it, so I'm happy that both of you indicate that it is a worthwhile read.

After I read Frabato I'll see where I'm drawn next in this area. I have also recently acquired several other books (recommended here previously) and look forward to learning what I can.

Follow-up to my last post. I received and read Frabato the Magician and thoroughly enjoyed it. The book was hard to put down and I read it in only a few sittings. It has my interest going in the subject matter of hermetics now.

I have both Franz Bardon's Initiation Into Hermetics and also Dr. Georg Lomer's Seven Hermetic Letters and will read them both, perhaps Lomer's first.

Greetings Nick,

I am delighted you enjoyed Frabato [:)] It certainly is an entertaining book and provides a certain insight into the life of Franz Bardon.

I would certainly suggest you read Seven Hermetic Letters first and then IIH. Letters is an excellent lead into the work of IIH.

With best regards,

Adrian.

Thanks for the suggestion as to which book first, Adrian. I plan on starting Seven Hermetic Letters by Dr. Georg Lomer sometime this weekend. [:)]

This area is somewhat new to me and I am doing a lot of reading based on recommendations received here.

Having read The Kybalion (great book), the next book I plan on reading is Frabato the Magician. I like the idea of reading the spiritual autobiography of Franz Bardon, written in the form of a novel.

My question though, is based on this statement by the publishers of the works of Franz Bardon and Jakob Lorber:

"Special Note of Interest from Merkur Publishing®: Over the many years of translating rare and interesting works, we have found that there is an undeniable correlation between the works of Franz Bardon and Jakob Lorber. Whatever may not be understood in Bardon will be explained in Lorber and vice versa. Spiritual growth is similar to putting pieces of a large puzzle together; through experience and knowledge, the pieces will ultimately fit."

By the way, the home page for Merkur Publishing is:

Thus, my question would be to ask if anyone would agree with this. I had not heard of Lorber before, but as I mentioned I am new to this area of study. Any comments or recommendations on the above would be appreciated. Thanks.
