If you are not familiar with Focus 10, I would suggest trying the first Gateway set. If, however, you have an established routine for getting yourself into trance, and simply need audio backup without verbal guidance or music, I would suggest Transcendence. I've performed signal analysis of TR and a couple of similar products from competing companies, and TR technically appears much more elaborate than any of the other stuff.

Take a look at the thread on the Astral Consciousness forum entitled Gayeway Wave 1 Pointers by Frank. There is a lot of information and discussion on the Monroe Institute's first cd set the Gateway Wave 1 cds. Try those out if you want to see what the hemi-sync method is about. The whole series is quite expensive, however many people here have had success with just using the first cd set.

There are other commercial binaural cds as well from Awakened Minds and also Brain Sync for example. Just type those names into a Google search engine and you'll locate their home pages. Also, if you use our search engine at the top of the page, you'll find previous topics where people discussed these other cds.

Finally, there is something called the Brainwave Generator (BWG) which is software you can download and then play "presets" of binaural beat sound for hemispheric synchronization. Using the same search methods I just mentioned you can find out about BWG. Also, we have presets in our File Library here at the Astral Pulse.

Has anyone tried Holosync CDs from Centerpointe? Their homepage is http://www.centerpointe.com/. They claim their stuff is more advanced than Monroe Institute's for example.

From the technical analysis point of view, Holosync follows the most basic setup - simple rain background and single binaural carrier below the hearing threshold, starting in alpha and ending up in delta (I could look up the exact frequencies, but you prolly don't need that). They claim that people achieve great results with their solution, but I have nothing to say in that regard - make your own conclusions.

What is so "advanced" about it - I don't know.

BWG is the most versatile tool, but every single preset that I tried is absolutely no good. If you plan to use it, prepare to make your own presets. You can try it for free - its shareware.

I use my own recording (BWG + MATLAB + several hours of sound editing). I've designed it to be EXACTLY like Hemi-Sync in terms of background, but used custom BWG-generated carrier tailored for deep trance - it takes the listener down from 10Hz to 2Hz (exponentially scheduled) over the course of one hour.

I've used hemi-sync for a while now, and have had a couple of concious (but short) projections with it.

The Hemi-Sync waves have helped me learn the basics and has helped me enter the focus 10 state.  I would only recommend waves 1 - 3 & 7.  The rest are of little help.  I would like to point out that the Hemi-Sync set is only a learning tool, it contains information that one can read anywhere, and thats about it.  I have found wave I the most helpful.  Last night I came clostest as I have ever been to a projection and it was without the use of any audio files, it was out of pure concentration and will power, which is the best way to project.

To be honest, I haven't been able to reach vibrational state on my way down, despite trying virtually everything. I have problem sustaining deep trance, so I've made this recording so it would take me down to delta, so that my only job would be simply to ride along and not fall asleep (which is still pretty difficult) I do not use it as "thing to get OBE", but as a tool that would help me to learn to go deep, and what thats where OBEs happen.

I had to make it, because I can't listen for any of the BWG presets for more than 10 seconds without cringing, let alone relaxing. It works not better or worse than any other similar thing, but it sounds more neutral and transparent, which is an important factor to me.

What I would do is to just purchase the Wave 1 set. Then you can "test the water" so to speak as the whole series is quite expensive.

I've tried a few... and nothing happened whatsoever.  They were nice to listen to, but it ended there.  I have a friend who listened to the same ones I have and he said that some "strange things" occured, but I can only speak from personal experience.  In on tape, as I reached the end (I think it was suppose to be hypnotic) I was suppose to go on this great personal and insightful journey.  Instead, I just layed awake and listened to the minute or so long static that took place as I was "suppose" to be on this journey.  Needless to say, I was greatly disappointed.  I guess maybe it works for some, but it doesn't work for everyone.  If you decide to try hemi-sync, don't be suprised it it's nothing more then an audio cassette that puts you to sleep!

I've got the hemi-sync 'tribal journeys' cd coming in the mail,so we'll see...

Torosdead-it was a minute long?  that doesn't seem long enough for anything to happen,brainwave-wise.maybe you are supposed to put your cd player on repeat,to repeat the track over and over.

It's also important to remember that you probably still have to practice frequently along w/the cd.it isn't just going to make you kinda go "BAM!", and fly off into the universe.you might want to make an effort to stay conciously awake when the cd is trying to put your body to sleep.

and I would bet anyone that if someone who has never meditated before,tried hemi-sync or holo-sync,nothing would happen right away.

I've tried holo-sync's demo cd,and it worked beautifully,but I also have frequent sessions of meditation.

I'll post my experiences w/the tribal journeys cd when I get it...

I think that its important not to expect immediate, miraculous results with these tools.

Have a look at Frank's thread, as Nick recommended....and bear in mind that he has listened to the hemisync wave 1 CD hundreds of times.

Also, its important to understand that the audio sounds in any "brainwave" -type technology are not going to give you an OBE by themselves. Instead, they are merely an aid for you to get into the right frame of mind.

Is hemisych like those recordings that play two different stories/meditations through each ear, causing the brain to go almost immediately into deep alpha?  I have one of these and it is great, but I'm looking for more.
