In a book on chi kung, I read that everyone is born with a certain amount of energy that comes from the parents. This energy does not increase, but it can be used up and when it is all gone the person dies. Chi kung teaches ways of pulling in more energy so that this energy which comes from food, water, breathing, other people, the planet, and so on can be used instead of that core energy. The core energy (maybe it was called "prenatal chi"?) was compared with money. Some kids are born into very wealthy families and can spend large quantities of money without thinking about it. Others have to work harder to buy basic supplies. It is the same with energy. Some people are born with larger quantities of energy and can easily do things that most people will have to work a lot harder to accomplish. I'm more from an energetic middle class in that I don't get sick very often and injuries heal fairly quickly. Even so, learning astral projection and other abilities requires a lot of work for me. A friend of mine whom I keep mentioning has more energy and from it more aptitude than me for energy work. Regardless of how much energy a person is born with, it is said that it is still possible with the right training to become an immortal and that energy development is of vital importance to everyone. In these forums the method of choice seems to be the NEW system. I use reiki primarily. Within several months it gave me much more energy than my more advanced friend had at the time. Of course, now that we both know and teach reiki he has easily gotten better than me again. He is much more skilled at feeling energy and knowing things about people through their energy than I am. As long as we both continue to put in comparable amounts of effort, he will always continue to be better than me. This is to my advantage, though. When I need help I can ask him but he has no one better than himself to turn to.

Hi Tom, I know how you feel about your friend. I'm second level reiki and fifth facet seichim also active in some tantric practices. So I am able to generate a good amount of energy...but I got my friend into healing practices also and he's a reiki master now. He's totally awesome at it and helps me with clearing and pain on a regular basis. We're also into channeling and he's developed his own way of channeled healing that's very interesting to experience. He's just started putting himself 'out there' so it will be great to see what it develpoes into. I don't think that I could do the things that I do without the balance that he assists me with.  I pick up a lot of negativity with my job in hospice care. Sometimes I pick up entities or attachments that want to leave the dying person because they don't want to be involved with the death process. I'm one of those people whos empathic nature hurts  I've been quite pleased about my inquiry... I guess spirit reads the boards too *grin* I've been getting some clear pictures of the others that I do obe work with..two so far.

I would like to say hello to everyone. I've been reading past postings and finding them quite genuine and interesting. I'm happy that I've come across this place where there are people actively and seriously practicing with obe/astral work.  I'm looking for a bit of support from others who might be going through the same things that I am. I believe my 'abilities' are generational and have been brought down though my grandmother, also through the reincarnational process and having many spiritualy seeking based pastlives. I tend to be more out of body than in during my meditational and sleep times. These things have progressed through many years and now I'm at the point of doing really intense spiritual obe rescue work. I really enjoy this aspect of my spirituality and see it as an evolving process but sometimes I don't always understand the symbology presented. I'm not always exactly sure what I have done in the experiences. I have a friend who is a seasoned channel who often helps me clairify what I'm up to. Like another person who posted here that I read  the obe's that are 'work' are sanctioned by a higher authority and I don't initiate. I usually have others that help me in the process. All souls involved incarnate and discarnate are in agreement. It's always with the highest most possible intent.  The last soul retrieval that I did was a little clearer for me in that when I woke up I saw on TV the man who I 'helped' to the other side who died on Sunday. I'm working very hard at putting the pieces together and finding answers. I have had some repercussions that I think may be related such as constant fatigue and weakness..but am willing to continue for the higher good.
If any of you resonate with this post or want to offer some advise as to what you might have found gives you better clairity, please respond. Ultimately I would love to find the other people that I work with on the etheric..I know some of them are in body. Wouldn't it be wonderful to bring some clairity in to this conscious reality.
I thought I would just put this out and see if I could find some earthly based etheric support
