do you mean mind awake and body asleep? [:)]
My biggest problem with this is moving or getting itchy, I've never had the dry mouth problem before though, but may I suggest drinking a good ammount of water before practicing this, or perhaps using vicks vapor rub? Also, just curious, how do you manage to deal with the insane itching sensations?

Thanks for the quick reply, and the suggestions.

To answer your questions...

"do you mean mind awake and body asleep?"  lol yeah :)

"how do you manage to deal with the insane itching sensations?"  I don't know if this makes sense until you try it, but what I do is imagine the itch or pain pang as a vibration, and as such I am able to send soothing waves over it to diffuse/change it.  A friend suggested this to me, and it really does seem to work well.  Something interesting...when the itch or pain is intense, and I diffuse it, It often spreads out like a ripple in water.  Say the itch is on the shin, it will feel like the itch/pain turns liquid, and runs down my leg, diffusing all the way and finally into soothing waves of energy.  I hope this helps,

For me the best way to deal with the ithcing is to ignore it, once I start feel itchy I conncentrate on somewhere below or higher than the itching sensation.[:D]

When I have "insane itching sensations," do you know what I do?  I scratch them!

I think many of us think, "Ok, I've been laying here relaxing for X-amount of minutes, and now I have this itch.  But I can't move or else it will 'break' the mind awake/body asleep state that I am in."

I got news for you.  If you're aware of an itch, you mind as well scratch it....because A) your body is not asleep, and B) it will only further distract you from relaxing your mind.

So don't be afraid to just scratch that itch, or adjust your body, or move to a different position when you're trying to project.  It's not like you go all the way back to square one.  Your body remembers its last state of relaxation and slides right back to where it was before after you move.  If this wasn't the case, then everytime you roll over in your sleep, you would be wide awake and have to start getting tired all over again!

Hello all,

Today I was doing my daily meditation, and after doing the body awake mind asleep exercise began to visualize pulling myself out of my body.  I have done this many times before, and get a slight tingling in the recruited extremities, but this time a realization seemed to come to me.  "Quit visualizing and just do it!" And I found I was actually able to pull on my astral body, through the top of my head, while grabbing onto the rope. This brought on vibrations, where before They were only achieved by the manipulation of energy by breathing and the visualization of that energy flowing through me.  This is quite new.  I was able before to relax to the point of heavy vibrations, and direct flow through breathing and visualization, but never before able to pull out, or, more accurately pull on(because I didn't go anywhere.) It seems I have a new faculty to strengthen, where as before I wasn't able to really pull at all, only visualize pulling.  Has anyone been where I am before, able to pull, but sticking?  Any suggestions on the next step to getting out?  Oh, and does anyone else get a dry mouth while meditating?  I am able to diffuse the sudden and intense itching, and little pain pricks but how does one cure an incessant dry mouth?
                                  Thanks for the time,
                                                      Brandon
