Welcome to the world of precognition. It's a strange gift or curse depending how you look at it.  I have come to the provisional  conclusion that time must be a dimension as described in superstring theory rather than a vector as newtonian physics describes it.  Time can be traversed much like any other dimension by those than can by will or accident do so.  My precognitions are much like yours; I don't know they are precognitions until the event happens in my normal waking state.  This makes us lousy predictors of future events since we have no way of telling which dreams are precognitions until after the fact. My thinking is that Deja-vous is just a dream remembered that is caused by a waking state trigger.  For most people, this "remembering" is vague and can't be contextulized as to when/where the memory comes from.  For people like me and you, the waking state trigger brings back the whole dream in technicolor with no loss of detail.  We know we dreamt it and we know when we had the dream.  For me the dream is always one that I had recently - usually within a few days or hours of the actual event.  Older dreams tend to kick back less detail for me and tend to be more like the Deja-vous effect.

This phenomenon definitely gets you thinking about the nature of time.  Modern theoretical physics seems to be on the right track with superstring theory positing that there are actualy 10 or more dimensions rather than 3 dimensions.  However, reading on this subject is quite inaccessible to the physics layman.  There are competing theories within the theoretical physics community concerning the string concept as well.

If you are looking for ways to develop this as a skill to be used for prediction, good luck.  Books that I have seen on this topic have not done anything for me, so I can't and won't recommend any.

Hope this was helpful.

hmm.... interesting...
but i forgot to mention that i do not remember these dreams. not even one. but when the feeling comes i somwhow know that it was a dream once. or maybe i just think it was a dream...

shaman

Blessed be you, Oh young shaman!

I had many deja vu when I was young. In one occurence I knew I had dreamed it, since I remembered the dream. In the other occurences I did not know it was from a dream, but I just knew what was going to happen. And the fact is that the way I had the deaj vu was exactly the way I remember these things now. So that I believe that it is not only from dreams, or if it is from dreams, it is actually a connection with the future where you connect with the future memory of something is about to happen. Lately, these years, it has turned into premonitory dreams. The most impressive one was when in a dream I saw the front of a place completely destroyed with debris everywhere, and in the dream it was a bomb in Jerusalem. The next morning when I woke up I checked the news and at noon I learned of that bomb in a pizzeria in Jerusalem. Later on I found on Yahoo a picture of the place, and the way I remember the picture is exactly the image I saw in the dream.

Note your dreams, and try to remember them everyday.

If you dream of meat it is a sign of death. The person to whom the meat (raw meat) is given in the dream is the person to transit (die).

Dreaming of loosing teeth is also a sign that people close to you will transit.

V00D00

hmm... loosing teeth... i was dreaming that i have a "hole" in a teeth that i do not have for a long time.. what could it mean?

shaman

If you dream that you loose one tooth it might be the sign that some relative of your will transit to the other world.

If you dream you are loosing all your teeth, it is you who might be transiting very soon. However, if you manage to keep your teeth (you pick them up and keep them in your pocket for example) then it means that you will get hurt but will not transit.

As to just a 'hole' in your tooth, I do not know. I have dreamed a few times that pieces of my teeth were falling, though the teeth staid attached and nothing (that I can remember) happen. So I do not think it is a premonitory sign, and if it is I do not know what it might mean.

There is also a psychological way of explaing the dream in which you loose a teeth, as there is a 'rational' explanation for every dream. However, I found that some are really premonitory.

Keep us posted about your dreams and if anything happens. I hope only good things.

I just posted this thread on the lucid dreaming forum about the connenction between deja vu's and dreaming. This experience was unlike the things you guys said about this subject. Would you care to comment to my thread? I don't wanna write it all down again so it can be found on the lucid dreaming forum.

And as to the "teeth-discussion", I've had experiences with ecstasy that made me think I was losing all my teeth. Just like when you dream you are losing your teeth. Maybe it's something in the brain (biochemically) that gives you this strange sensation?

hmm...
after this dream with a hole in my tooth i could feel it for a dday after the dream... it is strange but there is something with these teeth dreams...

getting back to this deja vous thing.
As a child and into my early teens it used to happen to me regularly.
it just seemed normal
i didnt ever  think of it as a dream.
i remember asking my mother about it and she told me it was called deja vous, and since it had a name i thought it happened to everyone.
i would be doing normal kid type things, and suddenly i'd get a weird sensation .and whenever i got that feeling, i would know exactly what was about to happen, I would turn my head and watch some event take place, like it was a re run.
it never lasted more than a few seconds.( like 5 or 10) and it was never any earth shattering event . It was things like the principal walking unanounced into my grade 4 class and asking one of the students to go with him to the office. I knew he was coming through the door before it opened and i knew what he was going to say and who he was going to ask for . but didnt know why he had to go to the office or even care. i did wonder why everyone didn't turn and look and wait for the door to suddenly open. but ive come to think it wasn't as common for people to have these experiences as  i had. if it was i'm sure there would be more info on the subject. as i got older i would sometimes get that same  wierd feeling and a picture would flash into mind i would turn and look , but nothing would happen. is anyone aware if any good info about deva vous. looking on the internet it seems people use the phrase to describe a similar event taking place again like another crooked politician , or another tax hike, but not much info on past and future somehow being  out of sync.

V00D00

hmm...
it happened yesterday again... this time it was particullary strong... and it looks like i "dreamed" it a long time ago...

Bonus

Back when I was fifteen I started getting deja vu quite commonly. i thought nothing of it until my friends started telling me I was getting it way too much. that was eleven years ago now, and since then the sensations are getting more and more common. about five years ago I started waking up to the dreams describing them too my girlfriend, then two days - two months later these things would happen. I can happilly recognise the dreams now sometimes ill remember them a day or so later (depending how deep i was sleeping at the time). initially the dreams would cover single events like a family meal or similar, small events two - three seconds. now im 26 and things are getting insane im haveing dreams of maybe ten or twenty 5-20 second movies that cover larger periods of time. eg im currently living one that has been running for about three weeks ( deja vu's at least twice a day ), I had the dream in june 2003. I can happily describe a trafic accident on my way to work just to have it happen and not need to check my car for damage because i know that when i did in the dream i found none. do you know what its like knowing your getting a surprize birthday party for your 28th birthday when you are 26 (its a regular party pooper) excuse the pun. you want to know the worst thing knowing you are going to get the deja vu sensation before you get it, trying to avoid it and then getting it anyway(man that really grates me). the dreams only cover periods of my life (never is anyone else focused on) and I always only see things out of my eyes or on the odd occasion watching me in the third person. the other thing is sometimes I inadvertingly change events through guilt of knowing what is going to happen (to stop people from getting hurt feelings etc.).
Im not saying its a curse And it has had moments that it has been usefull (negotiating pay rises is really fun[:D])but its getting to the point that nothing happens in my life without me knowing about it first. im sorry about the long winded story but im feeling quite alone with this and thought someone else may have been experiencing this too so on to the net i go only to find this forum.
What VOODOO describes sounds like me three to four years ago. when it started getting me wondering.
Just one dream for the lottery numbers please...(i wish)
Any feedback would be helpfull if youve got any.

Thanks

i just found this site from a google search, i hope you can give me some answers. i've been having about six or seven major deja vu episodes every year (they last longer than about 20 seconds). they've been getting progressively longer and clearer as i've been getting older. i know that they are from dreams because once the deja vu has begun, i remember dreaming it, and i remember the exact night i dreamt it. the reason i was searching google was just recently i had a peticularly strong episode of deja vu. it shocked me very badly when i realized i had already seen what was happening and, for some reason, it hurt. like my head and my heart hurt. just for a few instants. and during the deja vu, i even remembered what i had thought i was looking at when i was dreaming. and it wasn't what i thought i was seening. is it just me or is this a little extreme? does anyone know how to control this so it doesn't hurt and i understand what i'm seeing? i don't like the direction this is taking, any suggestions?

Narya3021

by the way, i'm not even 18 yet and i've done no prior training or research so any step in some sort of direction would be nice. Thanks!

Bonus

narya,
I was around 18 when i started realising they were dreams and started freaking myself out. I eventually got used to the sinking feeling associated with deja vu (they happen now too often not to be). I find its not euphoria yet not quite pain perhaps more shock than anything. I relate the feeling quite close to the feeling of guilt (don't ask me why). I would suggest to try to get used to it because its not going to just go away. I think they are warnings or signposts if you will they only appear at major emotional intersections in your life. it's like the dreams go through your future picking out moments of high emotion (read the term emotion loosly) i also think the emotions caused by getting a deja vu are flags enough for the dreams to pick up on ( hence you get deja vu's of deja vu's )
I had an experience similar to yours once. my girlfriend and I were looking at a new house when I remembered one of the bay windows in the house (this is a house i could have never ever been inside of before) and I grabbed my girlfriend took her over to the window and told her that i remembered having a dream about standing in front of this window looking pointing at somthing in the yard (i couldn't tell her what i was pointing at )while telling her, I was doing what i was describing. only when I finished telling her I turned around to look at the window only to have the deja vu hit me like a freight train. I just happend to be standing in front of the window pointing my finger into the backyard just like i had just described to her (I was pointing at nothing by the way). she say's I went all pale and quiet for a moment which is when the feelings hit. Its like they start playing with you letting you know every now and then theres nothing you can do to stop them even when you know they are comming. ( having a deja vu about having a deja vu is just freaky ). Im sorry i don't know how to control it. however i have harnessed it a few times but i have found that when you recognise its comming and change things to stop it from happening its usually not for the best(the deja outcomes are almost always better than what you end up changeing to. with my experiences anyway)
im not sure if it is somthing i want to give up. but i have heard that you can get devices that stop you from having REM sleep but that can't be good for you. if you stop the dreams you stop the deja vu(food for thought).

Hope i was some help

Bonus

doing a bit of research on the net I found that some people hear what is said in the dreams others hear what is thought. personally in the dreams I hear what I think and what others say.

also others mention a number that keeps comming up in their lives for some seemingly random reason.
this is also somthing i experience around deja vu times like a warning or somthing. for me its the number 27 eg. driving down the road randomly look at a letterbox which just happens to have the number 27 on it. think to myself what is it with me and 27 and five or ten mins later i get a deja vu.
this is not always the case more the exception than the rule others bought it up so i thought id see what you guys thought.

or perhaps im grasping at straws now.

V00D00

This is happening for a few years now. It was not common when it begun but it's getting more common over time. In the last two weeks it happened on a three day basis.

Now the thing itself...

It is starting as a simple deja-vu and then I know exactly what will happen in the following few seconds or even minutes. I know what will I do, what will I say, what will do the person near me, I know exactly everything. And I can't do anything to change the course of things. Then, somehow, I know that I have dreamt the thing.

Can someone help me explaining the stuff? I've decided to track the thing. I'm running some kind of a diary... Here it is:

11-9-2003 x2
14-9-2003
17-9-2003

The strangest thing happened on 11-9-2003. I never had it twice in one day. This is the day when I decided to find out something about this.

Thank you
