Well done Brandon ! hopefully you can repeat it regularly ! that's what I'm aiming for.

I've experienced this phenomenon, but it was more subtle than 3 seconds of applause ! I reckon it can be attributed to 2 explanations...
1) You had a "false awakening", where you dreamt that you woke up.
2) There was a kind of "mind-split" where your 2 realities (physical & dream) where experienced simultaneously.

First off, congratulations!  Once I had my first OBE, it was like opening the floodgates, and now I have them all the time.  So buckle up!

Yes, I've often said that it sounds like the air which blows down on you when you're sitting in an airplane, and you turn that little black nozzle above your head.  Almost like a loud hissing sound.

Anyway, I concentrated on this and controlled it, then simply pulled (rope method-ish) and floated out.  I found my head floating at the base of my feet, and was blind as a bat.

For me, learning to use my vision took the longest.  For 6-8 months, all of my projections were in the dark!  Talk about frustrating!

I also noticed that there was a bit of dread with the experience, almost seeming to be seperate from reason, I confronted this and it automatically dissipated, as I convinced myself there was no good reason for it.

That's excellent.  Confronting and dealing with fears and emotions are one of the key things to having a successful projection experience.  It's good to see that a newcomer to the astral world such as yourself has already figured that out.

Then I remembered the Ultra-Short suggestion Robert Bruce gives in Astral Dynamics, so I simply thought of going back, and instantly I was.

Yep, usually the mere thought of the physical body will instantly send you back to it.  A lot of people take comfort in that thought, but a lot of other people get ticked off because their experience always gets cut short!
Keep smiling,

Hello all,
I had my first willed OBE yesterday.  Right after I woke up for the morning I felt an energy pulsating in my ears, kind of the sensation when you hear a really load noise, or the wind blows in them just right.  Anyway, I concentrated on this and controlled it, then simply pulled (rope method-ish) and floated out.  I found my head floating at the base of my feet, and was blind as a bat.  I also noticed that there was a bit of dread with the experience, almost seeming to be seperate from reason, I confronted this and it automatically dissipated, as I convinced myself there was no good reason for it.  Then I remembered the Ultra-Short suggestion Robert Bruce gives in Astral Dynamics, so I simply thought of going back, and instantly I was. This morning when I woke up, I noticed something else unusual..I was having a dream and at the end everyone was applauding(I don't remember why.)  Anyway I woke up, and the applauding continued..I lifted my head, still heard it, and it continued for about 3 seconds more as I tried to figure out why the heck I was hearing applause still.  In those few seconds I had realized that I had just finished dreaming, was still sort of dreaming(I guess) and that being awake and as alert as I was, It was unusual to still be hearing my dream. Doesn't that amount of self awareness usually nip that sort of thing in the bud?  Anyway, a different sort of thing I thought I would share for feedbacks sake.
                                             Happy Journeys,
                                                         Brandon
