If you read Castaneda's book on dreaming, he talks about some old sorcerers falling in "traps" set by so called "Inorganic Beings"...  Their only power is that they have a very deep consciousness and can read in you as in a book, and so know all your weaknesses.  Then, they will trick you using those.  The way to avoid it is "simple": be strong minded and think twice before saying/intending anything.  Also, they are supposed to be unable to lie...  So, if they don't want to answer a tricky question, just assume the worst answer... [|)]  He also said that they catch non human beings too in their nets.

He also talks about some other beings that are far more aggressive; but that can only harm you if you see their energy.

I am just saying what Castenda talked about; feel free to believe in it or not...

Why is it that you fear this?

I see no reason for fear. That does not mean I don't get scared some times, but I see no reason for it. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. Fear can cloud your judgement and immobilize you. Learn to not fear. People spend why too much time worrying about things that may never come to pass. Don't worry about what ifs, just deal with the now.
Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

You shouldnt worry about fighting with something to get back into your body because you dont really leave it. People say they leave it because they dont think they can be 2 places at the same time. You are always connected to your body. You can feel like its gone because you're not paying attention to it.

Your ability to be attacked in astral (rarely happens) is proportional to your skill at projecting. If you're almost not there, its hard for them to attack you.

Yeah I posted a topic about this a wile ago.

Many people do not OBE again because of this very reason.

But fear can also be a great tool.  Learning to control ones fear is best.  There is nothing wrong with fearing something because fear usually keeps us from doing something stupid.  Ever been afraid about jumping off a bridge into water, I have and my friends called me chickin.  One of them did it and cut his foot open on a rock in the shallows.[xx(]  So managing fear is what I would do for something like this.  Let fear tell you something is wrong and listen to it when you need to.

You know what, you bring up a good point about that. We all must manage or tolerate our fears. Sooner or later, just doing simple things would be fearfull if you do not confront them.

Thanks guys,

Controlling your fear is a very useful tool indeed and you are right Van-Stolin for fear will keep you from doing something stupid. The fear to me, however, is more of a gut feeling that things are not right. Beavis, thanks, knowing that I really don't leave my body is a huge help. Even though this may not be true (which I think it is), the fact that I believe in it now is a very powerful tool.
Thanks once again guys,

Use protective measures before projecting and use conjurations whenever necessary.

In all reality there is nothing to fear.  Humans are the most powerful beings there are because we are part of God.  Because we are part of Him all his powers are in fact our powers, we have simply separated ourselves from His communication temporarily (this world).  There is nothing that can overpower our will in any dimension.  Further more, I think that the only reason we would be afraid is because of our natural instinct to stay alive.  Something threatening in any realm could make us think that we might die.  But we are eternal, and death is meaningless.... so truly, there is nothing to be afraid of.  Our potential is limitless.

Fear is an estimate of danger. It should only tell you to pay attention to what you fear, then decide what to do without considering fear.

It's hard for most people not to have fear influence their acts.

You should not jump because of your decision to avoid harm, not because you are afraid. People jumped and did not get hurt, some jumped and did. Fear should not be a factor. People get hurt and die in car accidents every day, does that mean you should fear riding in cars? You can get hurt from anything and everything you interact with every day, should you fear everything? Fear may be something to make you stop and think about the situation, but it is not good to allow it to influence the situation or cloud your mind and judgement. Dealing with fear is the first thing you must do when it comes to OBEs.

Hey Guys,
I shouldn't have really looked back at previous postings, but I did. I came across some posts about people meeting dead people, posession and all those lovely things:) Ihad been getting those thoughts out of my mind, but I still don't want to be ingnorant. teehee. Anyhow, this may have been more suited to the philosophy forum, but I'm diggin the O.B.E. crew and my question does pertain to O.B.E's. When you either project or have an O.B.E. when you come across a threatening situation or something "scary" what exactly, at that moment in time are people worried about. For me, the reason why I'm not gung-ho on leaving my body is for the mere fact of having to try and fight with something to get back in. This is a very uncomforting situation. What part of you "can" get threatened on these planes. Purely the mind...right? Now, if I encounter another entity with a "bad vibe" or "malicious intent" my reason for being scared is the fact that they will somehow over power my mind with theirs and keep me looked in the mentality state of despair. Can these entities create worlds/dimensions around you. If so, how would one get out. If your are on a mental competition with something how can you develop techniques to hold your own? I mean, why  am I so afraid? It is because I have had an intense feeling of despair and no longer want to feel it again. Guys/ gals I need your help for development. I know it will boil down to me...that is ...to make the difference. However, I wish to resort to your experiences as I'm just a novice. So what I'm trying to ask is, what exactly CAN BE threatened on these planes??? If I know, then perhaps I can work with some solid grouds. Yet, right now, my only fear that is very evident is the fact of these entities GAINING control of my mind.

Thanks,

Rusty

teehee,
I just looked at my title and I kind of came across differently in executing what I wanted to know. Losing yourself simply means your mind meshing with something else's, where you lose you and you become IT. Yet, this IT is not a pleasant IT. Catchin my DRIFT? ....IT
