Dreaming in the third person is more common than you think.  Some how I would be willing to bet that certain habbits effect this, like gaming.

Reading, writing, and math in dreams is a bit tricky.  First off reading, for me it seems to work fine at first.  I will look at a sign or a news paper and know what it says when I first look at it.  But if I look at it again it will say some thing different.  Also it is not so much that I am reading the sign or paper, it is more like I am getting an impression of what it says.

I have never tried to write anything that I can recall.  SO I am not really sure.  Math is damn near impossible while dreaming.  This is because it is more of a logical process than reading.  My brain seems to skip any math that happens in dreams.  I mean its there and all but for some reason its always okay, even if "2+2 = 5.5".  It's always okay and does not register as being wrong in anyway.

Now I would assume that more of these various kinds of functions could eventually be overcome depending on a persons level of awareness durring dreams.  Seeing as more of your consious mind is active durring dreams where you are more aware or fully lucid, I don't see why it could not help to perform some of the more logical functions.

HMMMMMM ..... I don't know if this is what you are talking about but I sometimes dream that I am someone else usually some one I know and I am acting what is going in their life.  Like I use to dream I was my sis and she was leaving home some one we did not know.  Later my sis moved out with some one she just met and my dad and I went to get her and she said no she was staying...kinda weird I know but I dream this way every once in a while but it takes time to figure out my dreams.  This type of dream to me is 3rd person.

I do dream "in third person" from times to times too.  One effect is that you are not caught in the intensity of the dream/nightmare, as you would with 1st person.  Maybe unconsciously we switch to 3rd person for some kind of relief.

Usualy, I can correctly read books, signs and news papers. I can look back several times and the text is still the same.  But, it did change a few times.  I guess it depends on your ability to keep the dream "stable".

I can do correct maths by myself; but not using a machine.
If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?

I've heard that in dreams it is not normal to view events in third person.  As in watching yourself do things as though your sight was a camera hovering behind you, or over your shoulder.  Because I get dreams like this all the time, first person as well but third person too.  I like third person more actually the view is more encompassing.  But I told someone this and they were like, WHAT?  They had never had them before or even heard of such a thing.  Also I've heard that in a dream you are not supposed to be able to read or do math.  Something to do with the logic and creative parts of your brain.  I'm not sure, but I've read many things, signs, books etc, not always making sense, but I've been able to read in my dreams.  Numbers however never seem to add up properly, 2 + 2 could equal 4856230472 in one of my dreams, lol.  Well anyways I would really appreciate your own experiences and accumulated knowledge on the subject.  Thanks.

Be well,
J
