This thing is getting on my nerves - I think I have voted about 8 times now and the Poll Box NEVER goes away...

Tom

It keeps coming up for me, too. I go from one computer to another at work and always use the functions to delete cookies, files, and history. This always brings the poll back and usually I ignore it. Instead of having the poll go by cookies I'd rather see it only ask each member to vote once and store if a vote has been registered.

Tom

Would it be possible to not have the survey at the top of every page at this time?

Arulok

Hi Adrian,

Just dropping you a friendly line from down under.

I'm using IE 5.1.4 on Mac OS X at 1024x768.  I'm getting a slight problem with the text overflowing beyond the border of my monitor - often by quite a bit.  So I'm wondering if it is a text wrapping problem with IE for Mac OS X or something else?

- Michael

Hi Adrian,
I have a problem similar to Arulok. When I use my girl friends Power Book
(  IE 5.0 on Mac OS 8.5 1024x768) I get a forum window twice the size of the screen with no bottom sroll. Very unhandy!!!! Really!

Any idea?
Have a nice day

This is my first trip back to these forums in a few months - I'd been unable to view them since something was changed that made them incompatible with Netscape Communicator.  Now I'm running Mozilla 1.0 (and loving it) at 800x600, and everything works fine.  Well, everything that matters, anyway.  That mouseover menu at the top is a little messed up, but I can login & view & post.
Now to browse through 4 months worth of messages...  ;-)

I'm using Internet Exploder 5.5 & 6.0,
Netscape 6.something,
Opera 6.05
Whichever browser isn't sulking at the time for whatever reason.
All under Windoze (98 & 2k), all at 800x600 cause the companie's too cheap to buy me a 17" monitor, and I'm too cheap to buy one for home.

How about more choices?

I'm using Mozilla 1.0 at 1280x1024

Blossom

I use none of the above on the poll.

Mozilla 1.0 is the closest to netscape and would be the equivelent to the newest version of netscape.  They are made similiar.   What would work for Netscape would work for Mozilla in other words.

But, my preferred browser is OPERA 6.0  Fast, dependable and I have used it for years.

IE sucks in my opinion..

Resolution: Being 44, I need to see things.  Either 800/600 or 1024/768.

PROBLEM RIGHT NOW THAT I CAN SEE [with the forum links]:

On the links items labeled:
"Forum Categories | Active Topics(20) | Recent Topics | Bookmarks | Search | Online Users | | File Library"
This are displayed correctly when I click a link with all browsers [Moz, OP, and IE], meaning drop down menu displays in the correct manner..

HOWEVER:

On the links items labeled:
"Home | Forum | Resources | Personal | Guestbook | The Team"
These links do not display correctly.  To use these links with Mozilla or Opera, I put my mouse over the correct link, and it opens a solid black box to the left and below of the actual button listed above and with the drop down menu to the right of the black box about 2" or so.  And to use the actual drop down menu from each link above, if I do NOT put my mouse in the black area first, I can't utilize the drop down menu.  It will close on me and go to the next link, meaning home, forum, resources or whatever....

The error above occurs with mozilla 1.0 [netscape] and Opera 6.0 and Opera 5.0 regardless of my personal resolution on my computer..  I have not tried changing the resolution here.  In fact, just noticed it.  I will give it a whirl after posting this and see if it corrects the error and then post an update at the end of this message..

This error does not occur with IE, but I would rather have the error and use opera than use IE without it.

I am new here and this problem did not exist when I first joined.  My end user setting are the same.  Otherwise the site works great... I love it!!

Sincerely,
Blossom

UPDATE:  Changing the resolution from this page when editing or posting changes nothing about the problems I mentioned above...AND changing my actual screen resolution just makes the location of the black box about 2" further to the left than it already was... Everything else remains the same except my poor eye strain.  Back to 800/600..hehe

Just wanting to learn....

After much fiddling around trying to upload photos I've found the same problems as Blossom, and a few more -

Mozilla 1.x, Netscape 4.x & 6.x - elements of page such as login area and top line of drop boxes are all offset, and some graphics not displayed.

Opera 6.0.x - same as netscape, but drop box offset even worse. If trying to upload images, the "Close Window" link doesn't work under Opera. Javascript problem perhaps? Opera running with or without Sun Java makes no difference.

IE 5 & 6 - just fine with AstralPulse, but don't try logging on to Spiritual Truths with IE 6 - it doesn't work at all well.

Have noticed a few more SQL / ODBC database errors creeping in when moving around image gallery & profile areas.

"SOLUTION TO USING OPERA 7BETA"

With Opera 7 this is what you do to fix the viewing difficulty.  Open the hotlist and then under the 'view' tab at the very top of the brower [file, edit, view, navigation and so on].....Click the 'view' tab and then goto 'hotlist' and set the view for hotlist to 'floating'...  This opens the hotlist up in full page format.

Then, create a new hotlist panel called "astral pulse forum".  Do this from the same place you set the hotlist view.  From the view tab. Set your link to be the one you would use when at your personal page and can access your personal things.  This set of links will not showwhen completed on the full page but if the link to the created panet is set to this, you will have perfect access to the whole forum with no prob visually....including the drop boxes.

I am fixing to open my Mozilla and see if I can add to tab to it in the same manner and see if the drop box problem is fixed by doing so... Just curious now.

Sincerely, Jenn
Opera 7 is GREAT!! Great mail system built in also.   I will be glad when the final version is out..........
================================================

THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM:

I just upgraded to opera 7beta... wow, it is terrible in here.  The bottom half of my screen which is all the forum stuff works great.  The top portion however is like this..

At the very top right of the screen where it says 'Important: Read it Now!' and then a couple inches below that it says 'Logged in as Blossom' and the 'LOGOUT' button.

The space inbetween these two points with Opera 7 is about 1 foot in length.  The portion of the screen below the 'LOGOUT' button works perfect.

It has something to do with the drop boxs. The links work but they are all in a downward line on the right side of the screen.  Alot of the actual letters in each link don't show as well.

And that's all.  This is the beta version Adrian, so it's okay.  When the real mccoy comes out however, I will check again...  I will continue using version 6 at this time.

Sincerely, Jenn
