thats a very good sign there, i get that just before i leave, to keep it short, your on the home streach and on the right path.

Nay

I focus in on it and make it get louder.  I think you might be pleasantly surprised at how it helps to focus your mind and bring on vibrations.

Good-luck!

thanks for the input.  But I've been getting this high pitched whine for years.  Not just since I've been doing AP stuff.  I hope it's something helpfull, I will try and foster it next time.  I asked my spirit guide to make it stop and it did, also some noises coming from a wall, those stopped too.  I've been wearing ear plugs because the noise is so distracting, but I think it might be wise to take them out, to help me project.  thanks.  any more advice?

Sorry to tell you this, but thats called Tinnitus.  You can read about it here:

http://my.webmd.com/content/article/48/39169.htm?lastselectedguid=

I have a mild case of it from playing my guitar very loudly for years. It can get annoying, but it can also be slightly helpful for getting the vibes if you concentrate on it.  I don't use that method, but have tried it and started to feel the beginning symptoms of projection.

Nay

Thanks overdriven!  I knew there was a name for it, but for the life of me couldn't think of it. [:P]

It does take some getting use to, but I have had some good outcomes using it to focus on.

you dont have a disease.i was told its the sound of electrical impulses in your brain. I hear it when ever it is quiet and there is no background noise. when i focus on it it gets louder. i've always heard it, in fact, i remember clearly hearing it when i was about 4 years old because i remember asking my mom what it was.

whenever i am in certain places i hear it, like the outside of the movie theater where you buy tickets... it hurts so bad, and i seem to be the only one that picks up on it.....

heard it in the halls of my school today

i'm familiar with the hearing damage ring, but sometimes it's a different ring than that, and the only thing i've been able to pin it on is electricity, sometimes in a computer room it gets really loud/bad but if i step out of the room i'm fine.

i'm not sure if it's an external ring that most people just learn to tune out or it has something to do with the way electricity is affecting my brain or something.

I'm not sure if this is the same sort of ringing, but here's a thread that might interest you: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6762
It's the method i use and pretty much every time i use it i get very close to getting out of my body. The rest is up to me.

I think everyone has a slight ringing noise in the back of their mind, no one pays attention to it though, its probably not tinnitus in my case, but anyways..

I can get vibrations within a few minutes of just listening to the ringing. I feel nothing for a few minutes, then WHAM! intense vibrations =p

I get it around electrical things as well.  I can walk into a ohuse and tell if the T.V. is on just from the buzz.  Even if it's on a blank station and looks like i't soff, I'm like your T.V. is on.  Also computer screens, some appliances.  I always get it when I'm trying to go to sleep, when there is no white noise, I just have the buzzing.  I don't think it's tinnitus, it's not as pronounced as an after shock of intense noise.  I tried focusing on it last night and I did get some slight vibes, so I think I will try again.  Hey does anyone project using ear plugs?  I sleep so much better whne I wear them.

I can do all that which you just described too, nthjbam.  I wonder if it's the same for everyone?  Maybe it's something to do with natural variations in ear sensitivity or something.

nthjbam

Probably some sensitivity.  Because most people don't hear it.  When I say your T.V. is on they are like no it's not, then I go turn it off.  I thought for a while I was the only person who could hear this crap.  It's annoying.  But during the major blackout of this year, I was lying in my bed and I STILL had the buzzing.  Which tells me that it is not based solely on electricity.  If it was then wouldn't the buzzing have stopped, seeing as there was no juice running through anything for miles and miles?  It was still there.  So I don't know what to make of it.  Maybe it is slight tinnitus because we have these electrical things around us 24/7 so that even when they are away the after sound stays in our ears.  Something that is constant all day takes time for the sound to dissapate?  I don't know, I was hoping someone had a concise and decisive answer for me, but alas it seems everything in life is definetely maybe...

Don't get too depressed about it just yet!  Maybe it's not just EM fields we can 'hear', maybe we can hear gravitational fields too?  This would explain why we always hear them even if out in the countryside.

Or maybe you can actually hear etheric energy?  It wouldn't surprise me.  Next time I open my chakras, I'll try to remember to listen to see if the sounds change.

I've also had that high pitched ring my whole life.  Use to be quite annoying, but I use it as a concentration excersize now.  Just focus on it and try to make it louder and louder and it will take your mind off of everything else.  Annoying I know, but most likely you're stuck with it, so you should find a way to utilize it.

You're not alone in being able to hear/feel when a tv is on in another room, I can do that when the mute is on. How bout those very annoying high pitch noises at a big department store...that gets almost painful for me.

I think alot of people have this extra sense of hearing, half my friends have it, the other half don't.

Now the question is can you hear a dog whistle?..[:P]

Can't everyone..?

I remember hearing that high pitched noise since I was 3 or 4 - I always think of it as the sound of silence, since I only heard it when it was totally quiet. I now know I only hear it when I'm relaxed, so it's quite useful as a meditation aid - especially since you can vary the volume and pitch just by trying to.

Tho it always seems to me that I don't so much make the pitch change, as just become aware of a separate, different-pitched noise. Like being in a room full of talking people and concentrating on just one conversation.

I used to find it quite strange when I was a kid, sitting in my room at night, when it was dark and quiet, and I was hearing a loud whine and seeing millions of tiny dots (ideoretinal lights) - it seemed there was no such thing as true darkness or silence.

Logic

Ideorential lights, hmm.. kind of like looking at millions of multi-colored dots making up an image of whats acctually there, or just overlaying it, I've had this since as long as I can remember, same with hearing any electronic appliances.

Wow, I am very happy i found this topic.  Ive had this noise for soo long and was allways scared of it and annoyed.  Recent ive blocked it out pretty well, but i allways have some noise to block it.  also, seeing light everywhere I get that too, blocked it as well but it seems to come back very strong when i awake or very relaxed.

nthjbam

Wow, I'm surprised and amazed.  I as well never knew what the heck this was, and everyone I asked was like what are you talking about, I don't hear anything.  Strange indeed, I wonder if it has something to do with people who interested in astral projection, maybe some inherent predisposition and we're all mroe in tune and hearing energy on a different level than most people?

just a thought, it's nice to be special, lol.

Don't really know if it has anything to do with interest in astral projection, but I doubt it.  I've never really thought much of it.  It bothered me sometimes, other times it was just there, in the background.  It's also not constant.  I can make it happen ANY TIME I wish, but even now as I sit and type I don't hear it unless I want to.  It's loudest when I am trying to go to sleep.  Usually everything is turned off.  The television, all the lights in the house, everything is already sleeping, then it's the only thing I can hear.  But it doesn't bother me anymore unless I'm drunk.  If I am drunk and trying to sleep it comes on and it feels like my head will explode.  If I am sober, I just let it be and it doesn't bother me.  I'm not suprised that many people have this, but I am suprised that it's considered to be such a huge annoyance by many.  Some people are able to have OBE without even wanting them, like Robert Monroe.  Maybe this high pitch ringing is a pre-lude to that.  Perhaps some people have it naturally to help them have OBE.  I've read that this ringing is heard by many people just before or as they project.  Maybe the fact that some of us can hear it any time we please is a blessing.  Perhaps it will make OBE easier in some way.  Who knows, just an idea, but I know that when I use it to meditate it's very beneficial in terms of something to concentrate one, so who knows.

If it were Tinnitus the noise would not be just at night. I have heard buzzing and even the sound of a roller coaster rails screaching before I exited my body.

nthjbam

Ok for a really long time, every time I go to sleep I get this high pitched whine in my ears.  Like when the T.V. is turned on but it is black, you can just hear that electrical buzz sound.  Or like after a concert and you have that eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee sound in your ears.  Every time I go to sleep I have this noise, I dislike it immensely it makes me uncomfortable.  Does anyone know anything about it?  does it have some significance?  Is it good?  Is it bad?  Should I stop it, tune it out, or go with it?  Any answers? anyone?
