Welcome to the forums imustbecrazy!
It sounds like you are very susceptible to spontaneous OBE's.  I am also very surprised by how forceful they are on you.. the way you described trying to get out of it, and still going through that experience.  I envy you.  lol

It's very likely you have energy blockage to your upper Chakras.  This could be your brow chakra (commonly referred to as the "3rd eye") and/or your crown chakra.  (The top of your head)  Here is what I recommend you do...

When you feel the experience coming on... don't fight it.  Go with it.  Use it as a tool to help you through this.  Don't be afraid, nothing will hurt you.  RELAX!  Then, perform energy excercises on your chakras before attemping "separation".  Robert Bruce goes in to an extreme amount of detail on this procedure in his book "Astral Dynamics" as well as his Treatise on OOBE's.  I highly suggest reading it.

You basically want to pull energy up through the 7 main chakras in your body, which are aligned with the spinal column of the physical.  Imagine energy being pulled up through your feet, in to your legs and up to your base chakra.  This chakra is located between the colon and genitals.  Then imagine opening the chakra like you would with a roll at dinner time.  Draw energy in to this chakra and repeate 5-7 times.  (The base chakra is extremely important!  If you don't get proper energy flow through this chakra, all the rest are restricted energy as well!)

Then perform the same procedure for the rest of the Chakras.  It goes from the base chakra, to the spleen chakra (just below the naval), then to the solar plexus chakra, the HEART chakra (another very important one), the throat chakra (where the shoulders connect), the brow chakra (just between your eyebrows), and the crown chakra, (which is the very middle tip of your head, and slightly below the surface of your scalp).

Make sure you go through all of them thoroughly.. otherwise you will never get energy flow to your top chakras, which it sounds like you desperately need.  If you can manage to do this, chances are your head will be free!

I hope this helps!

Thanks for that info- I will look into chakras- although I have to say, I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff.  I guess you're right; I am pretty lucky.  I think I'll wait for the next episode and just see what happens.  Is it normal to fade in and out of dreaming (lucid) and back to paralysis- the dreams were like I was AP'ing but, I don't think I ever got my head out.  Unless it's that fast.  At one point I was up and hanging onto the corner of the desk in my room but getting pulled back by a force in my middle back.  I took that as I dream, though.  It's all pretty new to me.

Any input on the way my body looked & felt?

Also, could this be happening to me b/c I had a NDE as a small child (2- almost drowned) or b/c I have a high IQ?  <--I'm not saying I'm Einstein or anything... just looking for answers.

Thanks for your response Dragen.

It's actually quite common for people to astral project from a lucid dream.  In fact, it's one of the easiest ways for most people when they are starting out.  The trick is making yourself aware of the dream while you're dreaming it.  What most people do is "train" themselves during their normal awake day.. by checking every hour or so, "Is this a dream?".  This becomes a habit.. and it transfers to the dream..  Then when they are aware they are lucid, they switch the physical just in time to fall asleep while being conscious and induce an OBE from there.  There are other ways of hitting the astral directly, like "gazing into mirrors" and so forth.. but that's from a lucid state to an astral state.

What you are experiencing appears to be a little of both, especially the OBE during paralysis, consciously aware of it.  If you were hanging on to the corner of your desk, I would imagine you were lucid.  Although it is a bit strange how you said you were getting pulled back toward your body.  It is often reported that there is a very strong magnetic pull to your body when you're "out".. so it's recommended to get a certain distance away from your physical body to reduce this "pull".  But if you were able to hang on the corner of your desk, I would guess you were lucid since touching anything in the etheric isn't possible.

The way you described your hands and legs has been reported by some people.  Others will describe a pretty good representation of what their body really looks like, but the conscious mind cannot retain this "image" for too long, and they kind of "melt" before your eyes.  However some people don't see anything at all, or they see "halos" kind of what you suggested.

The fact that you had an NDE as a small child is a fairly large coincidence.  For one, I am not a real firm believer of "coincidences" and it's very likely that a traumatic experience like an NDE could have a direct correlation with your natural spontaneous OBE's.  How or why this would be the case is a mystery to me, and I can only speculate.

As for the IQ.. who knows.  I'm open to possibilities.. but in my honest opinion, I sincerely believe all people have this ability.  No matter your IQ.  Intelligence doesn't play a role in calming your mind and opening yourself up to possibilities.  It's a spiritual thing.  Some intelligence is required.. at least knowing what some techniques are and maybe some "basics" of the subject.. but even then, how could you possibly label somebody as a "metaphysics genius" when metaphysics itself can never be tangibly proven like standard physics today.  So aside from me spilling off on a rant here.. lol!

Glad I could be a help.  It's funny, I read a lot about this.  It's all I really do.. i'm quite knowledgable on the subject, but have never experienced an OBE first hand.  (Been close!)  Experience and understanding is the true key to wisdom.

Read as much as you can, and experiment.. learn.  Never judge others for their own beliefs!  You have a gift that allows you to reach in to your inner self and find answers to all your questions.  For that, you should be thankful!

Good luck on your ventures.. be safe and I hope you find what you are looking for!

When you open your eyes during the paralysis (trance) it's common you have hallucinations, since you're not well attuned to the physical dimension.

A tip for the head stuck: imagine your head inflating like a ballon, when it gets large enough it will separate smoothly from the physical frame.

Ciao imustbecrazy,
i've problem very similar to your, i can detach from all my phisical body, except from my head, which remains in the phisical b!!

OK- help me out here.  First let me say that I've not tried to Astral Project or induce an OOBE.  HOWEVER- I'm often paralyzed in bed and feel odd sensations.  When I read about sleep paralysis, it takes me here.  SO- I read about AP and OOBE and thought- hey, I must be in the astral unawares..
So, yesterday I woke up and while falling back to sleep felt the paralysis coming.  No matter how hard I try to move or break concentration- I can't .  Then, before I realize what is happening, i start hearing like a pulse and feeling an electric sensation spreading from my face to my shoulders and then throughout my body.  Weird sounds all over- don't even remember them.  Then I think- I should open my eyes.  I open my eyes, which is extremely hard and can't seem to hold them completely open- they are very blurry and I know they aren't my physical eyes.  I start swaying my body, like in waves and then try lifting my limbs.  At first I can only wiggle my fingers, but slowly wiggle wiggle wiggle and I can lift my legs.  I see my legs (transparent w/ a white outline - what's that about??) and lift my hands up to touch my feet.  What's odd is although my legs are transparent, they feel real.  OK- so long story short I keep trying to get my head out and no matter how hard I try It's stuck.  Also, when I try to get it out there's this stretching sound.  Any ideas???  Why does this happen w/o me trying??? Also, I should say that I tried grabbing onto things and pulling myself out, rolling out etc... that doesn't work either.  My head, it really is stuck.
