From the little I understand about wraiths, they could best be described simply as ghosts. Supposedly wraiths are a projection of someones spirit that others might see just before that person dies, kind of an "Ok, I'll be off now. See ya."

Both the old Scottish and Icelandic lore describe wraiths as being like guardian angels, so I guess this has come about from their human appearence.

If this is all they are, I wouldn't say they could be described as psychic vampires at all. Such spirits have never required the energy or lifeforce of another to exist.

P.S. I do think that the term "psychic vampire" is a term that is being a bit over used at the moment. It conjures up the image of som life sucking demon, but in reality it can simply describe a person who's going through some emotional turmoil, and tends to draw a lot on other people's energy as a kind of crutch.
Just my opinion though.

i am tlakin about a different type of wraith. they are supposedly human, and they have many characteristics in common with psychic vampires, but they dont need the energy to survive and no they are not psy vamps. they have a few characteristics that seperate them from a psi. so im not talkin about the spirit wraiths of folklore. but thanks 4 tryin james.[]

Trouble is Pyro, you might be looking for an answer that doesn't really exist. Though I haven't really researched it in depth, all the information I found about wraiths did relate to the folklore descriptions.

Any other descriptions I found were purely fantasy creations for the purpose of games or stories.

I think if I were evil I'd just break down and tell everyone just to be different. Plus it would give a person a good excuse for killing someone with a knife if they had already told that person they where evil.

I'm just saying that evil people should be more open about being evil because evil is ok.

I wouldn't say Dark is a emotional psi. If you understood everything that happens during attacks you would understand why she would come across as draining people. There are many attacks here by just disagreeing with eachs other opinion with drains energy because your mind no longer puts the energy out to believe what you once did. Yes Dark is looking for emotion security due to her attack, which is quiet understandable from being attacked myself. But she also needs to stable her emotions and not accuse everyone. She may have good cause to accuse some. She did say something about a person and I also got a response from that person asking if i'm alright and I never gotten a reply from the person. It's a simple reply I asked for wanted to know how they knew what was going on? They couldn't reply with a simple explaination which leads me to suspicion due to the fact I know how they could know if it was due to real sincerty not a cause. I intend to leave astral for awhile, being that there are more accusation and denial here more then there is of help. I'm sorry but you can't tell a person they are not being attacked when they are and they know they are and have come across the evident to prove it but not how to stop it. In return you just atatck us in a verbal sense. We all feed off each other whether it's an energy base or mind base. I can say something to you that would make you depressed and you wouldn't want to do anything, to try and put energy into it. Most due this verbally other's do it in another way.

it seems this word came to us from scotland (warth) which they used to mean a guardian angel, and they got it from iceland (voreth) which they used to mean a ward or guardian. however, based on what i see it seems to be more of a naturally occuring thing and cannot be defined in terms of good or bad.

from what i have found out a wraith is a mortal person. they often confuse themselves with psychic vampires because they have many of the same abilities. they usually have an extreme facination with fire, allways have at least one bad habit, have an extremely high iq, have great reflexes, and have a gift for seeing what people truely are. that is why they used to be used as vampire hunters. if anyone would like to elaborate, be my guest. i would like some more info if there is any[]thing i left out. thanks

A wraith is semi-materialized mental projection.

As a simple act of will, anyone with second sight can see any of your thougths projected, naturally. Some psychics can emit one of these thought forms (sometimes called watchers in the OBE community), and transfer their consciousness into it.
