Its hard to do anything paranormal while drunk, but I havent noticed any permanant effects of alcohol.

Jeff_Mash

I agree with Beavis.  I can't do anything but tinkle and moan when I'm drunk.  Other than that, drinking in general has not seemed to affect my OBE progress.

Hell, I even brew my own beer as a hobby!  I would hate to give THAT up! [:D]

I'd say that alcohol relaxes the lower chakras and tightens up the higher ones (roughly said) ... you get relaxed and physically comfortable (if you stay below a certain level of drinking), talk easily, have fewer blockages of expressing feelings/thougts etc - you're somehow down-to-earth. On the other hand, you will probably think less about the consequences of your actions, or could make wrong decisions you will regret later on.
That depends all on how much you drink, of couse... from what I gathered from books, drugs (including alcohol) will pollute your aura with some sort of gray-green mucus after prologend consumption, but I see this only as a serious adversity if your drugs intake is governed of a wrong attitude... that's the question of use vs mis-use again.
Another thing I noticed is that after drinking too much, my imagination and inner vision was more lively the next day, when I had a hang-over. In my opinion, this is more likely to be hallucination than anything else ... thus nothing to desire.
I can't see how a good drink every now and then could have any bad effects on your body or energy body... in that respect, I also don't think we're on earth to stay absolutely pure and clean and sober all the time, but to do as we like as long as it's 'good' for us and others... there's no place for feeling guilty after drinking alcohol, thinking "oh god, that's bad for my development!"
If you plan on becoming a healer or doing other 'serious' energy work, too much drinking could become a hindrance there.. then, you best stay as natural as possible, i.e. no deliberate intoxication :)

Kind regards,
 Edi

Thankyou all for your replies.

I agree with Beavis and Jeff about the lack of paranormal abilities when drunk, same happens to me, and probably most people! What's worse is when you're lying in bed after a heavy session, and all of a sudden you get OOB symptoms, coupled with alcoholic spin-outs... not possible to OOB (without puking) [:)]

Edi, thanks for your post, very very enlightening... best post i've read in a long time...

Thankyou all!

Actually in the past when I've been doing a lot of meditation and energy work, I've found that if I go and get hammered, there's a good chance of having a really vivid dream later that night, if not a weird low-energy kind of OBE.

Interesting the talk about higher and lower chakras.  Alcohol relaxes you and definitely allows energy to flow better.  (Ever noticed that you're also significantly more flexible after a few drinks?)  I know from experience that when I'm feeling lethargic and am putting off starting something difficult, a drink or two will get me up and at 'em!  (More than a couple of drinks will make a complete hash of the job of course.)

Cheers,
Steppenwolf :)

It appears to me that drinking significant amounts of alcohol causes the the higher bodies to get softer and less cohesive. This probably leads to a state of greater permiability and, for many personality types, a general sloppy loss of energy.

I know that astral beings have a much easier time siphoning energy from those who have been drinking.

I drink at times myself. And I usually find myself regretting it if I go past 2-3 glasses of wine or so. It's fun while I'm doing it. But I am aware of a setback too. It takes me about 36 hours before I manage to get all of my bodies back in line and percolating smoothly again. It's like they kind of get out of alignment with each other.

So my rather vague answer to you is that drinking heavily is probably something of a setback or a drag on you if you're seriously trying to move ahead quickly with development.

Well now, what is THIS world I stumbled upon?

Mustardseed

That is funny I also very often skip your posts becourse of it. Anyway about drinking I used to think that it had a major effect as most of my OBEs would appear at the beginning of the night and if I had some beer I would fall straight into a deep sleep. However about a month ago I had some of my most memmorable OBEsat about 4morning with a headace hangover so ......I am not so sure anymore.

That's very interesting. The pix I have been using is cropped from a larger one of a famous saint from India named Babaji. He is an Adept/Master and is in the lineage of yogis who sponsored Yogananda. I like him because he's a real "no-crap" kind of guy. I'll try using the entire pix and see if it is less threatening. Let me know what you think...

I'm not sure whether this is a common question, but what effect does alcohol have on the nergy body?

I drink, sometimes quite excessively..... will this slow down my energy body development??

Thanks
