Ohhh it isn't dangerous or unhealthy, it's fun!!

Personally, I've only been able to willingly create that sensation while playing a video game, and I try to feel what it'd be like to be in the character's position, having Invincibility and dropping from the highest point in the tallest world. Feels awesome.

This falling sensation could lead to OBEs, so keep at it!

No amount of rigorous training, sitting and doing nothing, and clearing one's mind can help a man who hasn't overcome his doubts.

Yes, follow the falling sensation.  If you set the intent of OBE, it will happen.

Alright thanks for the advice I'll keep putting my body in that state and I'll see what happends.[8D]

I havn't had an obe yet but I have an Idea on how to help get one.
Ok now while in that free-fall state sensation imagine yourself falling out of your body or something similar to that, because I read that imagination is the key to obe'ing out of your body, sort of like tricking your astral body.

That's cool.  I notice that I feel like that when I'm falling asleep after a day at the amusement park or something.  How do you create that feeling?  Also, it can't be dangerous if it's not actually affecting your physical body, so enjoy it.[;)]

Also, if you're trying for an OBE, have you tried the ROPE tech by Robert Bruce.  I still havn't managed, but it's the closest I've gotten in a long time.[|)]

Hey I started a topic about that too a while back, about how I used to do that a lot when I was a kid.
It's nice to see that more people know what I mean :)

I don't know how to explain it really, it's like if you see something unexpected you know that feeling of sudden freeze in you stomach like your whole body freezes of the unexpected or sudden emotion caused by fear or something that you see or hear that is hmmmmmmm well lets say you are in a class and a teacher says he will give an oral quiz and you didn't study, and BOOM! you get picked. It dosen't feel emotionaly disturbing though, I feel my whole body in one way(full awareness) you know when you wake up and you are sleepy and weak, well that is almost exactly how it feels after am done, but then I feel fooly energized again. [|)]...

findtruth

Cool, I'll have to try to do that somtime.[;)]

or you'll lose focus and fall halfway asleep, then jolt back into focus, accomplishing nothing.

basically, it won't happen, from my experience.

but i guess the more you have it the more likely you are going to be to eventually succeede with it... but i've played with that state for 3 months and have had no success.
(during the day)

but are you saying you can just create a fake falling sensation, or you can actually produce the real thing that you get via shutting your body down at will? Because if you can do that you should probably be able to instantly fall asleep or into a trance (if you can focus enough) whenever you want, instanteously.

the very subtle falling feeling doesn't really do anything from my experience though, but it can sometimes be used to trick my body into producing adrenaline, which is fun.

and prolonged exposure to adrenaline is bad for you, so if you're triggering adrenaline (if what you are talking about is a full blown myoclonic jerk [like when you are almost asleep and you feel like you trip over something] then you are) which is why stress is horrible for you.

but in small doses adrenaline is great for you, so if it's just briefly done while trying to fall asleep/meditate/etc... it's fine for you as long as you don't have a heart condition or something.

Yes, you got it it's like adrenaline rush, but why is prolonged exposure bad, and it does feel exactly like I trip and fall from my body, but I get back with that sensation of adrenaline.

Well how I create the falling sensation is visualizing that I'm on a rollercoaster, I do this alot so i'm farely good at it, and I make the rollercoaster go around corners and up then down. Then I feel what I see. I think you might have to of ridden a rollercoaster for that to work, or even one of those rides that are big circles that go in circles, I can't remember the name.

To make myself dizzy, I can do many things, such as close my eyes lie still, and visualize spinning in circles, or something that goes fast and in circles usually. Then I start to feel dizzy.

I do know that I feel what I dream cause 2 nights ago I had a dream and at the end I got stabbed, Instantly I woke up and felt like I got stabbed in the back, and it did hurt very bad. After I woke up a half minute later it just disapeared.

holy reality

now when you say "visualize"

do you actually see it like it was a vivid dream, or do you just very loosely pretend you are on a roller coaster but you don't really see it very well... it's kind of like halfway buried inside your head and fades in and out (that's why my "visualizations" are like)

that sounds really great that you can make yourself feel like you're on a roller coaster though... I did that while dreaming about one last night.. I finally got on it but I forgot what the layout looked like so I had to make it up while I was going along... the physics were completely fake but we went into some sort of loop that twists into a barrel roll at the top then vertically spirals down into a really tight curve...

it was great, though it only felt maybe 75% real...

-----------
prolonged exposure to adrenaline is bad because it wears out your body.... adrenaline keeps you in the "fight or flight" scenario, which is stressful for the body to be in for long periods of times, which is why stress is very bad for you.... as is anxiety.

doing this at night probably isn't even remotely close to being a problem and can be good for you, but you shouldn't spend hours doing it or anything like that.

When APing the sensation is one of total weightlessness.   Weightlessness feels like constantly falling.  Therefore, if you can imagine the falling sensation while attempting OOB or AP it is trememdously helpful.

I work it like this:

Do this when you are well rested.  AP is common in the early morning hours, say 3 or 4 AM, after you have slept and you are still very relaxed from sleeping.  It is easy to learn to awake at this hour every day.

Lay on your back.  Get comfortable.  A pillow under the knees helps you to lay for extended periods on your back.  Make sure you are in a place where you feel safe and will not be disturbed.

Inhale very slowly, then exhale in a quick rush out of your mouth.  Open your throat as much as possible to do this WITHOUT any strain.  With a little practice you will feel a falling sensation on every exhale, which you can intensify and maintain between exhalations with your imagination.

Focus your eyes a couple of inches in front of your forehead.  This will help to disassociate your visual cortex from physical sight.

You must relax completely.  Hold in your mind the static thought of your intent to AP, and with every exhalation 'sink' further into relaxation, maintaining the falling sensation.  Imagining you are spinning can be good too, but can be difficult to maintain when starting out.

Surrender to the experience.  Hold the thought of your intent in your mind, continue to imagine falling down an endless space, continue sinking into relaxation.

It is usually at this stage that distractions occur - noises or itches or stray thoughts.  If you made sure your space was prepared ahead of time (doors and windows locked, etc..) you have nothing to worry about, just completely disregard it.  If you itch just ignore it.  If a stray thought comes just let it pass and refocus on your breathing.

Surrender unreservedly to the experience.  Hold the thought of your intent in the back of your mind, continue to imagine falling down an endless space, continue sinking into relaxation.

After a while you may get a flash of vibration.  When that happens, now is the time to pull back your consciousness, and focus on the breathing and falling even more.  Never let go of your intent (to AP) in the back of your mind, but focus on your breathing and the falling sensation.

With every exhale, channel it into the falling sensation.  You may be peripherally aware that your breathing has become very deep and have difficulty keeping it slow, and your heart may start to race, but that is perfctly OK as long as you maintain focus.   You will not be harmed in any way.

You should finally reach the edge, the vibrations will take hold, and then the falling sensation, somewhat like going over the edge of a waterfall.  You will fall 'up' at a tremendous speed.  Do not be alarmed.  You will be out.  You will be free.

The first time it happened to me was back a year or so ago and i was laying down, then all of a sudden i got this idea to try and move my arm without actually moving it. Basically, I was getting as close to that point of trying to move and actually doing it, like at any time of day when you move your arm, but this was like trying to slow down that process. When you think about it it sounds weird but i always wondered how we can so easily move our bodies and that's probably why this idea came to me. But anyways, i tried it and i experienced that same extreme falling feelingalmost emmediatly, which scare me at first because it really tickles me(both types of "falling"[:D])and it gets so intense that it's a very hard state to sustain. As far as it leading to OBE's i dont know because i can do it any time i want, and that includes when i am moving. This topic came up somewhere else in the forum, if i recall correctly. If you want to know more just keep looking ,i'm sure someone out there knows more about it...

Kiauma! thank you so much!!!! I did what you said and I FINALLY!!! got out!!!! OMG thank you so much! didnt stay out very long though... it was weird... [:D]

I've been trying AP techniques everyday for four weeks now, and before I enter that stage when my mind is between sleep/conscious state I get that sensation like am in a roller coaster and my body freezes from the down fall(like falling in a dream) anyways now I can create this feeling any time I want I can make my whole body RELEASE THAT sensation of fear or free fall.
Is doing this dangerous or unhealthy, does anyone else understand what it is?
