Thing

sorry my friend, i think we here don't like to hear about drugs... just read the beginning and people will jump to another post.

Colin

I must say that I disagree, Thing. There have been many long and interesting discussions here involving or dealing with drugs. In fact, my own first post was about an experience similar to Redline's and I was pleased to receive many insightful replies. Search for the topic "Mushrooms and Astral Vision" if you think I'm off base.

Redline, I have had similar experiences after smoking marijuana. I think the drug can make one more sensitive to the energy body and stimulate conscious perception of non-physical realms and presences. The first experience I had, which prompted my first post here, was very illuminating in that it introduced me to certain sensations and mental states pertaining to meditation, projection, and so on, and showed me that these things are not to be feared. In any case, I don't believe drugs can really be used as a tool to aid mental/spiritual progression, but they can offer interesting glimpses into what lies beyond.

Thanks Colin, it's good to hear some response. Yea it definately opened my eyes to other areas. I think that's what guided me here in the first place.  Oh yea Thing, why don't you lighten up and smoke a bong and then AP, maybe you will understand where I'm coming from...oh wait you have probably never ripped a in your life. I'm sorry for your inadequate mindset. Sweet dreams

Now Thing's choice to not take drugs is valid and respectable. I think the important thing to keep in mind here is that we shouldn't put others down because their choices in life differ from our own.

I am hoping that you go and get yourself checked out by a doctor because you may have experienced what is called a transient or mini stroke.  My father is a stroke victim and only a couple of weeks ago he spent time in hospital because he suddenly experienced some weird things which sound similar to what you described.  Really, it could be anything, you could have had a kind of minipsychotic episode or brain damage or high blood pressure, all of which are common with marijuana/drugs and smoking.

Before you go looking for metaphysical reasons for your experiences you had better make sure it isn't physical reasons.  The kind that can send you on a metaphysical journey permanently![;)]

I think this is a valid area to talk about, contrary to others opinions. Was this your first experience of being really stoned? Unfortunately drugs do open us to other realities but we may be unable to handle it. If you think you still have symptoms you should see a doctor, only one you could trust otherwise they may want to send you to the loony bin. I had a somewhat similar experience, but probably not as long lasting. The first time I got really stoned I was playing cards-hearts,spades or rummy was our prefered methods of avoiding schoolwork- and I found myself basically out of body, not able to follow the game. I did not feel fear but it was like info from the real world was coming thru a tunnel and I was not attached to a body. Hard to put into words but I think pot can dissasociate you from your body and it can take a while to  get reoriented.
Check out micheal critchen's(spelling right? the SF author)autobiography  -he smoked some strong weed and lost contact with his body for a while. So your experience is valid.
In the world in general and in this nation
May not even the names disease, famine, war, and suffering be heard.
May virtuous qualities, merit, and prosperity greatly increase
And may continuous good fortune and subline well-being perfectly arise.

Ralphm- I'm reading that book right now, it's called "Travels" and it's very interesting. He recounts his adventures around the world as well as his experiences with auric vision, astral projection, channeling, past life regressions, and more. It's a great read, I highly recommend it.

Not to be just another person to disagree with Thing, but whenever people start talking about drugs and the metaphysical, there ends up bein a lot of posts about it regarding weed.  I can agree with ralphm about how weed can disasociate u from your physical body.  Even though i havent had an astral experience from weed, the thing is that it makes your body all tingly and you can think what you want and have it be correct.  it is so easy to fall asleep with weed knowing you are falling asleep, because weed can make your mind so active, yet make your body real tired, which can trigger a trance easier.  I think i will actually experiment with weed and the astral and then tell ya about it after i actually try to do AP and that kind of thing when stoned.

Okay, before I had ever heard of any of this stuff I had a very strange experience a year ago. It involves marijuana, which may explain some of it's oddness. Anways, I had smoked and felt fine, until I began feeling quite dizzy. I layed down on my bed and shut my eyes. Before I knew it I heard this crackling noise and this intense whirring as I closed my eyes. Voices filled with my head with my grandfather who had died when I was young, and many others. Laughter also was everywhere. When I opened my eyes I could see my stomach thrust upwards with my real physical body underneath. I freaked out and snapped back into reality. I sat up and went into a trance-like state. Suddenly the room stood still, I could hear my roomates voice repeating over and over in my head saying the same thing. I looked around but could not move. I tried to speak but he could not hear. I honestly thought I was in hell. Suddenly I snapped out of it again and my roomate asked if I was okay. Needless to say I was completely disoriented and asked if this was real, at that point I began to calm down. For the next week however my entire body was numb and I kept going into a trance-like state where my whole body didn't even feel attached to me. I felt like I would move and my physical hand would follow. The marijuana was NOT laced with anything as other people had smoked and were fine. The numbness kept coming back every few months for a year. anyone have any explanation?
