I had my first OOBE within 30 days of first trying, I read no books about doing it in 30 days, I just read an interesting website on it and decided I was going to go for it - after a month of meditation and constant reading about OOBES and attempting to OOBE I did it, wasn't meaning to neither, I guess all the trying to OOBE prepared me for it and when I decided not to try I somehow did it.
So yes, it can be done in 30 days.

Hi to everyone,

I have shared my opinion before, and I'll try to make this the last time I meniton it.  I think it has to do with conflicting beliefs that you don't recognize.

Let's say a person is thinking:

"I want to OBE."  (Followed by practice.)

Nothing happens

"Man, I really want to OBE."  More practice.

Nothing happens.

"GOD, how I want this, WHY CAN'T I OBE?"  More practice.

Nothing happens.

As you become more and more set and intent upon this goal, you are beginning to set your agenda higher and higher in your mind. Now let's say you were raised believing that God's will is supreme.  Then, there is an inherent conflict here. Your subconscious knows this. Nothing is going to happen until you resolve the conflict.

Some people say that when you stop trying, it happens. That hasn't been my approach, but it might be consistent with this idea - because it means you are reducing the conflict by dropping your personal agenda.  I have personally always resolved this particular conflict by praying first that only if this act is within God's will, that I be allowed to experience it.  (this also helps me address fear, because I feel like I am in "God's hands" - even though I don't know that there is a God.)

There are lots of other possible conflicts. There are also lots of books that outline a good series of questions to help you identify conflicting beliefs. (one of them - heh - is something like "OBE in 30 days.")

I really hesitate to post this. On the one hand I think people probably already know this and are just going to resent the suggestion, on the other hand I think that if someone overlooked the possibility, that the tip might come in handy.

Good insight there, Patty!

I didn't make the 30-day test, either!  I think it took me about 4 months.  But I *had* slacked way up on it, the last few weeks, and only tried a couple times a week, then.  

You make a very good point... about subconscious beliefs, fears, and upbringing holding you back!  You may "want" to do it,... but are you "afraid" of it?  (Most people are,...if they'd just realize this.)  It's natural to be afraid of it,... for it is the unknown we're venturing into.  That's why it's helpful to communicate with people who've done it, over and over.  (When I did it, I didn't even own a computer or know anyone who had done it.)  But I *had*  chewed the covers off from Monroe's 1st book!    

I tried Monroe's technics over and over, without success.  While I could reach a very deep state of relaxation, I could never seem to get anything like the "vibrations" going.... and then of course, I'd fall asleep!  Then I got into a very extensive personal search for spiritual truth.  Everywhere!  And after asking "The Suprerme Creator" (whomever that may be) to "show me Truth", that's when it happened!  And so, I would agree with you that it *may* be helpful to first achieve this by putting your "faith" in whatever you truly feel is your personal, spiritual protector... and simply ask for it.  If nothing else... this is a good way to help deal with that initial "fear factor" that holds us back.

Question:  Why do soooo many OBE books claim you can project in 30 days?  That just doesn't seem to be the case most of the time.  

Are they just trying to attract our Western culture to them, seeing how we are usually impatient with things?
