This is similar to what I experience.  It makes me nervous that my heart feels like it is going to explode.

Hey JAW,

Well it sounds almost exactly what I am experiencing. My hands feel so numb that it almost seems like I have no hands. I think one of my problems is that I pay to much attention to the things that are happening to my body when attempting to have an obe. And when that happens I loose my train of thought. Right now when I imagine my self-rising up and down it acutely feel so reel. I think a lot of people get like a 1 second sight of astral once in a while but nothing that out of the ordinary. Well good luck. Always smile [:D]

Hi. I dont know if one needs a so deep relaxation to get the obe. Although not an expert I sometimes have read that obe doesnt need a very deep trance or hours of relaxation. I have learned this first hand, because I am too bad in relaxation so when I reached to a state like that you all are describing, with the increased heart rate, I turned to my right side and fall asleep, yes fall asleep but keeping a watching eye in the whole process. Having aquired a deep relaxation before that helps the most. If, when I turn to my right or left, I DO NOT feel my physical body I am sure I will have an exit into a few minutes. So if you can not access the borderline try to sleep but keep in mind to watch everything behind your closed eyelids.

All the best

Hi people,
Ive read so much from the regulars here and just wanted to say thanks, even though you dont know me I must have read who knows how many forum pages by now that have helped me a great deal... But onto my post.

I just finished my most serious OBE attempt yet. I spent a long time doing body relaxation techniques and tried when I wasn't tired, meditated for quite a while and so on...

I acheived my best ever mental/physical relaxation yet, and finally understand the heavy numb feeling described - the most noticeable feeling was that my hands (I was holding them together in my lap)literally felt like they were merged together like a numb ball of clay, I couldnt feel each hand seperately, just a strange mass... :)

So from here I realised I was onto something, and may have a better chance of projecting, so I went for the rope technique but I keep finding that I tense my hands and stomach and legs when I attempt it. If I try and relax myself, i break the rope technique, if I dont concentrate of relaxing, I tense up :) Also do people find for this to work you have to literally feel like youre raising up? I can imagine it but not feel myself "gaining altitude". When I try this technique though, I get the most insane feeling of my heart rate increasing and drumming VERY heavily. Ive read countless times that this isnt really your heart but holy moly youd have trouble convincing me!!! It felt like it was going to burst through my chest! Anyway this technique broke my cool numb ball of clay feeling so I thought stuff this, and went for the "trying to feel like Im floating over my body" technique (after getting back to the trance state)

At this stage Id been at it for around 45 minutes, but I got a feeling in my legs that Im unsure if it was vibrations or "the shakes" At times it felt like it was vibrating, but sometimes it would feel like waves of shakes and I swear it was my physical legs shaking. How on earth can you tell??? Especially in the trance state youre in. Same with the heart thing, it feels so much like its just my heart its not funny. I kept the vibration state going for a few minutes, and like I said, was almost like the shakes, it spread to my waist and maybe stomach but nothing happened from there. I knew Id been at it for a while and had given it a good shot so left it and started writing in my journal, then here :) My body still feels a bit odd and tingly, but dunno if its because I haven't moved a muscle for 50 minutes :)

Any feedback, feelings, suggestions or similar experiences on these issues would be very much appreciated. Cheers!
