I really support "the blair witch project". Probably the most terrifying movie I've ever seen.
I would add to your list "the ring". It went scary, but the main character (the vampiric girl) seemed a bit too cute[:D], so it was not so scary..

BlairWitch???  Really???  [:O]  I guess I saw so many horror movies that, when I saw Blair Witch, I got soooo bored...
Personaly, I would choose Evil Dead (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083907/)...  It was maybe the first horror movie I saw.  It's an old movie now but, at the time, that was THE horror movie!
Some other old movies: The Exorcist (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070047/), Amityville (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078767/), or Poltergeist (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084516/) were scary too...
Prince of Darkness (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093777/) was not too bad either.

NO WAY!!  I was going to mention the Evil dead!  Scared the bajeebus out of me!!  It is a old movie..(showing my age now) I ordered it on Netflix..should be coming in a couple days..[:O]  My son wants to see it [:D] Muhahahaha..this should be good.  I am thinking no lights on while watching, that should get him in the mood..[;)]

Blair Witch was not for me. It's one of those movies where you either like it or not. There doesn't seem to be much in between.

Old scary would be Nightmare on Elm Street and new scary would be The Ring, for me anyway. [:)]

Xiii! So much Evil Dead, The Ring and Night. onE Street. Evil dead it is good until we see the zombies...after that puff! The first Nightmare it is not bad and about the Ring, well, i never saw it.

There is other new movie The Dream Maker, that on the first half hour it seems excelent but after that...

The Exorcist and the Poltergeist are good.

What about books? I love Edgar Alan Poe and  H.P. Lovecraft, their books are just excelents! Everybody speaks on Stephen King but he is nothing compared to the others! And what about the old and typical Dracula, from Bram Stoker? Just excelent!
I love you!

Arc

Four words....
DAWN OF THE DEAD! i didnt see the new one yet, but the old one was scary

also the whole trilogy scares me

SmileySpirit14

i dunno know...scary movies are stupid to me now...theyre ok to watch, but everything is too predictable and fake.

I must admit that getting older, more used to horror and kick butt special effects... some of these old movies that were terrific at the time looks a bit poor nowdays.

heh I like "SLEEPY HOLLOW" [:D]

Others are good also, but this one is making me push "pause" and enter in it[;)][:D]

Be safe[:)]

By the way I'd also add the worst horror movie and that would be "wrong turn". Nothing new there, just the old stuff, that human-mutants fight with innocent tourists and blah-blah-blah...

Wich movie would you vote has being the "best horror/terror movie"?

I think i would vote on Blair Witch (not BWitch 2-that one it is not very good). It is a great movie because it seems very real (the camera, thec concept of the movie) and, besides that, the fear it is implanted not by the use of monsters, ghosts and the like, but for the atmosphere. You never see a ghost there, but the noises around the tend (they look like child), the strange disapearence of one of the characters, etc, just everything there cause fear not directly.

And the end, well, the end it is great! It is very macabre, without using any violence! It is strange. Very nice movie.

There are others too: The Entitie (it is from 1981) it is great too because it is based on real facts and thus beiang scary: it is the story of a women being tortured and rapped (this is the reaons for wich i wish that the movie it is not true)by an invisble being.

"The Others" it is other nice movie, with a great ambient/atmosphere.

The Ninth Door (is that the name? with Johny Deep) it is nice too.

Well, say more movies for me too watch it :)

BTW: you can say any nice  horror movie, even if not using ghosts, like Alien series or the Predator (very good too).Oh, and dont say movies like "Scream" or "I know  what you did; etc" becaus e they are always the same and annoying.

I love you!
