Hey RascalKing,

It sounds like you are making some progress :) If I could offer a suggestion to you , it would be .. next time you feel that sort of .. localized vibrating energy so strongly forget the rope or whatever technique you were doing and try one of two things or both if you feel confident enough..

1) Focus on that vibrational energy and mentally will it to move somewhere or spread to your entire body whichever feels easier.

2) Simply move and see if you are paralyzed at that point (which in my experiences , vibrations let me know that I'm paralyzed ).

If you feel that you can move the vibrations around , try spreading it and increasing the intensity without letting it frighten you.  They shouldnt hurt in any way but ohh yes they do feel awkward sometimes until you get used to it.

I learned to truly love the vibrations when I realized they were the last step to a fully concious OBE.  When I feel them , I simply try to combine physical motion with mental motion and end up pulling my body out of the paralysis "shell" it feels like.  What I do when I notice that I'm paralysed is first test it to see if I really cant move (normally vibrations increase in intensity when trying to move in paralysis for me) and when I notice I'm truly in paralysis I pick which limb I want to free up like...my arm.. I would physically try to move it upwards and focus on it at the same time to try to make it feel like its actually moving up and before long , it feels like you are coming out of your shell or stretching some kind of strong toilet paper until its free and floaty .. once I have one limb out , my whole body is movable and my focus automatically shifts to my astral body and at least 80% away from my physical one until I manage to move farther away from it.

The vibrational state is interesting , dont let it scare you , have fun with it and see what happends :)

Ive read a couple of posts regarding vibrations and how powerful they are, but Im more baffled by whether mine were (its only happened once) actually these vibrations or just my body shaking for some reason. Do you find that your physical body is actually shaking/vibrating or does it feel different? Same when my heart goes nuts, I find it very hard to believe this isn't my heart, it feels physical, when I expected it to feel at least slightly different.
My vibrations were almost only felt in my legs, and it felt a lot like shivering when I get cold (and come to think of it I felt a bit cold all over, even though it was a good temperature in the room) They weren't constant shaking/shivering feelings, but were like a semi constant low level shaking combined with almost like waves or bouts of heavier shakes... Felt so much like my actual legs, but not sure what would cause them to shake... Any ideas?

Cheers

thank you for the advice! Yeah I think the first time it worked when I tried to move my physical body, this time I was worried that either I'd be paralyzed and it would be useless or that I'd wake myself up. But it is becoming less frightening overall. I will definitely try your suggestions next time.

and Jaw,
I am actually shivering in my chair right now because it's freezing in my apartment and I'm too lazy to get up and turn off the overhead fan, and now that I think about it, it does feel very close to what I'm experiencing at night. Kindof a mix between shivering and an internal shuddering. I would think that unless you have a disorder of some kind, literal shivering that violent would wake you up, and or that you might feel at least a little bit of muscle or energy fatigue after waking up. I know shivering in the cold can wear me out. I also totally hear you on the heart thing. I guess it can feel completely physical and that's why people can get hung up on it. I know it always makes me worry when I get to that point.

It's never been shivering in my experience.

Yes, the vibrations can be very strong - so strong that on really good projections it feels like it is taking my head off, and yes rattling my teeth.

Don't let it bother you.  Simply maintain your concentration and it will pass.

It is fairly normal.

also, now that I've got a good idea of the feeling I'm looking for, will trying to mentally recapture that, I mean, I can kindof imagine it and recreate the sensations, can going for that maybe lead to quicker projection?

When you project, you will lose all sense of gravity.  This is what gives the falling sensation.

I always waited for the vibrations to 'flash' to tell me when I was relaxed enough to try to project, then I would concentrate on imagining the falling sensation.  If I was able to do this with minimal thought it was successful.

JAW   "Do you find that your physical body is actually shaking/vibrating or does it feel different? "

My physical body is most likely NOT shaking at all .. come to think of it , for me , it doesnt feel much like shaking at all.. it feels exactly like someone takes a vibrator and shoves it onto or into the part that is shaking..  If its in my neck , It feels like someone stuck a vibrator in my spine and that area is just rattling but the vibrations for me can last from 1 second to 10 or more seconds in duration..  last night I projected conciously for the first time in months!  I had earplugs in my ears to drain the sound of the physical world and I was very tired so i was gonna listen for the hypnagogic imagery while I went to sleep and see how real I can get the sounds to play... Music of some strange kind came first and I fell asleep... I remember waking up sometime in the middle of the night and tossing over barely awake and I thought I'de try to project again..  For some reason I tried something different.. It kind of relates to the rope technique if you truly understand why the rope technique works (to put pressure on your astral body to forse it out)-i think  .

I was on my left side and I concentrated on making it feel as if I was pushing my arms down onto the bed and coming to a sitting position .. I just remained almost tensed up like that and moments later I felt strange kind of separated a bit and vibrations surged through the back of my head a little just for a second.  Since I was still mentally pushing myself up off the bed,  at the point of those vibrations I actually floated up into  a sitting position like I had been willing the whole time!

This experience gave me an idea for a new technique.. since I go a lot on physical sensations to project I'll try this one for a while..  I will lay on my side and put my hand under my pillow and while I fall asleep I will constantly by feeling for my hand and mentally focusing on it going through the pillow for as long as I can without falling asleep..  At the point when my body falls asleep , it my hand or something should vibrate and it should separate at least my hand at first leading to an OBE.   I'll try to post a new thread if my new technique works for me :) In the meantime , good luck :)

I thought the most intense vibrations felt like being slammed into a wall. Actually when i think about it I have never been slammed into a wall, but it gives you the idea. The best advice is to not be focused on them but move beyond them to the next step-projection.
In the world in general and in this nation
May not even the names disease, famine, war, and suffering be heard.
May virtuous qualities, merit, and prosperity greatly increase
And may continuous good fortune and subline well-being perfectly arise.

I find that I can induce the falling sensation much easier now, from a point of being awake and trying to go through the whole process from the beginning. It feels to me like I really have to focus on the very back/bottom of my brain. I can induce dream imagery within 5 minutes If I do that. Anybody?

ralphm

I have easily felt the falling sensation, mostly in my body. What I want to add about vibrations is they do seem to get weaker the more you go through them and project.

yeah, I remembered reading that they would diminish in intesity. Although I have experienced it twice a year or so over the past 13 years, and it still feels the same. Perhaps a knowledge of what is happening is what accounts for the weakening? I hope that is true. Although by the same token I still probably need the cue to know I am there. And are there other instances of people waking up already in the vibration state? And if so, are there any theories concerning what is to account for this? I think I have come to the conclusion that for me, it comes at the point in a dream, when I suddenly become afraid that it will become a nightmare, And it rarely if ever does, but I become selfconscious about my own dream, and perhaps this is what awakens my conscious mind. And then the vibrating.

Anyone?

RascalKing

in other words, (sorry about the sream of consciousness, but I am trying to figure this out for myself) I suddenly become afraid that  my dream will become a nightmare, so I start thinking "don't think scary thoughts, don't think scary thoughts" and I guess it stands to reason that that could wake up my consciousness?

I never had a obe...only partial ones, but i have the same problem as you, but i think that my vibrations are a little different. They are indeed a vibrational state, but i fel then more like energy, vibrating warm and, i should say, sweet energy. It is a very nice sensation. The only problem that i am trying to avoid that causes me confusion it is the incredible noise (not the vibration itself) that scares me a little. Sometimes it is so strange that my head seems about to explode!

Besides that it is a nice sensation, and i have the same paralysis too. But when i think that i was near of getting my first obe and i didnt get it just because fear...haaargh, i just think"stupid, stupid". I was so close to get it!

Do you wanna a litlle advice? Dont ask me the reaosn but i prefer to try obing by the early morning. About the rising sun or some hours latter. I think that darkness can be a psychological (and just that) barrier to some people. Lets get trying (you and me) the first one getting his first obe will describe to the other one how it was!

Ok?!
I love you!

maybe some people looked at my topic from a week ago where I talked about half waking up to this roaring sensation in my head, and as I said I think I may have had my first semi-conscious projection experience a few days ago using the rope climbing technique in this situation. Well It just happened again where I was half awake to these sensations, I didn't have an astral experience but I did maintain that state of inbetweeness where I feel the roar in my body for a good minute or so. It's still kindof frightening, especially since it's the middle of the night. But when I woke up all the way I realized, it's not really a in roar in my head at all, it's like there is a giant vibrating mechanical device (ha, ha) implanted in my torso, and that's the source of the sound. I think I've just been interpreting it from the aural perspective, but now that I really felt it out, I can still almost feel the intense vibrating sensations in my muscles, like if I were able to clench my teeth during it they would be chattering violenty and uncontrollably, I did manage one tug at the "rope" and immediately it felt like the vibrations changed frequency, but it was too much to gather myself to use my other arm and keep going. I think I was having trouble concentrating on climbing out partly because I could literally feel my perspective on the whole projection thing shifting in that minute from say, open-minded but still somewhat skeptical to, "good lord I think and feel like I can actually pull myself right out of, myself." Which, despite all the things I've read about it being physically harmless, it's still sortof a disconcerting thing to be convinced of.
