Women are not called the weaker sex but they usually tend to act like that i believe. Just to make things easier for them. I mean i am a software engineer and there are a lot of women here working with us. And as i see they always ask for help when they stuck coding complicated things but men usually dont.

When women ask for help i usually try to explain things first, then i see that they just dont want to understand so i sit and solve their problem myself. But when it comes to men, they are trying hard to solve problems by themselves. Even if they ask for help they usually listen to the explanation and try to solve the problem by themselves again.

I think the difference is because of the growing up of the species. A 5 year old boy is always trying to prove himself to the other. While on the other hand 5 year old girls usually seem to be alone in their world to me.

Well thats just an observation.

That's allright... I am OK. This happens every single day... It's all the same... But I am not blind!

Hehehe..  Yeah, I'm definately not the weaker sex.

I suppose it could have something to do with my childhood, but I always felt the need to do things myself, I might have to ask how to do it, but you can bet I'll do on my own from then on. [:D]

My first husband was so incompetent when it came to fixing things around the house or the cars, so I did it all..[:P]  I can't tell ya how many times my next door neighbor would come over and say..'why are you working on the car and not your husband?' LOL..

I think some men feel intimitaded by the women that do not feel the need for a mans help. [^]

That was a big thing with my second hubby, he did not like me working on the house or my car...[:P] He felt it was his duty..lol.. well, he got his way, but I'm still allowed to hand him the correct tools. [:D]

if my hypothetical wife wanted to fix the car i'd consider it a blessing.

Nice thread Nay! It makes me think how much times have changed since I was a kid growing up in the 50's. As I entered law school in the 70's there were a lot of women as well. Today in the criminal courts where I work, it is pretty equally balanced. Believe me, I have never considered women the weaker sex, especially in court. They are well prepared and quite formidable.

That is an interesting concept for a show however. It makes me wonder if it is a kind of backlash to 'the world owes me a living' mentality portrayed in much media culture? Deep down people should want to build, work, and especially help others. Perhaps this type of show enhances the opportunity for those selected to do just that. I'll have to look for the show. [^]

Has anyone watched any of the PBS series where they pick people and put them in a enviroment of yester-years?

This is a link just for the lastest of the shows.  I would soooo do it!

You have to build your home, stables for livestock, and food for living, everything that you would have to do in those time periods.

I hate the female part of it..[:P] cause that was just lame back then.  Females had no say in alot of things..what's up with that?  good thing THAT changed.  The clothing was really a hardship for women as well..all those layers!!

I find it extremely funny, that women are called the weaker sex..from the looks of the olds days...we had to put up with ten times more than men..lol..sorry guys.[:P] and children knew what it meant to survive!  no more playing video games and having mommy clean your room, get your butt out there and get water from the well six times a day!
