It would be very cool to take part I think, but sadly most people would probably not want to try to understand me over the telephone.  It's a hassle for a lot of people.  My speaking voice is quite hard to understand a lot of the time.  it's worse on the phone.

From the description of the experience that was posted it Does Appear that it Was an OBE. The account seems similiar to reports from people who have their very first OBE and are unsure what is happening to them.
The connection of your experience and recent OBE induction practices does seem rather obvious. Your (subconscious) intention to project was finally acted upon during sleep and resulted in the (confusing) OBE.

Grey

Thanks Grey for your advice on this.  It's great to think that you could be right and that I must really have been monentarily out of body.  If that is really the case, then I have come to the conclusion that phasing out like that is very confussing and might be hard to learn proper control of.  I had always thought that If I ever did anything like that, I would have no doubt at all, that it had worked.

I agree with markulous.  If it's really a guide, which it seems like it very well could be, it will understand the reason you attacked it.  It has more than likely forgiven you already.  In fact it was more than likely never angry at all.  You acted in the way anybody might have, having seen a potentially deadly animal suddenly in your house.  If your first instinct is kill it before it tries to kill you, that makes perfact sense.  Actually I would think that the animal might even have been expecting that reaction.

I really don't know what happened.  I'm not sure if it was a real OBE or not.  That same thing used to happen when I was young, and I had thought I had outgrown it when I was finished my childhood.  When I somehow did it again the other night, it was a complete surprise.  In any case, because it felt like I had simply gottten out of bed like I do every morning and started walking At the time, I had no idea that anything odd had happened.  I realize now that if it really was anything at all, then because I did it completely by accident, I was entirely unprepared and caught off gaurd.

i started practicing astral projection 3 days ago and so far i got to where i focused all my vibrations in my head.

am i a quick learner compared to the other beginners?

I don't really know what would be considers average learning progress.  I do know however that there is a lot of variation there.  Some people seem to make very good, steady progress and have some success within a month, while others appear to move very slowly in their progress.

Hi Chris. :-)  Wow.  I think you really are the youngest one here.  I remember being eleven years old.. like 14 years ago, lol.  Well, welcome to you anyways.
I have not been to astral pulse island yet, but I think a person would likely see the place in there own way.  Therefore if you thought there to be a gym, of a condo complex, or a grove of evergreen trees somewhere, then you would likely find those things there.  It would really be all about your own perceptions and expectations.

Welcome.
It sounds like you will be an interesting addition to the community here.

You certainly don't want to rock back and forth physically.  The idea is to get the astral body to move.  it's all completely nonphysical at that point.  It's likely that moving physically would probably bring you out of the trance state and you would wake up completely.  Actually you may not even be able to move in the first place, if your body is in sleep paralysis than, which it may be at that point.

Anyway, I also like to do the rocking thing as well.  I have yet to get all the way to projecting, but I have had the most luck getting the closest with both rocking and swinging.  8-)

My apologies for posting in such an old topic, but since this was my topic in the first place, I saw no point in starting a new thread, lol.  Anyway, I cannot believe this.  Yesterday morning, it happened again.  After Seven years, I somehow managed to randomly do it again, right out of nowhere. :-o
I woke up in the morning, but did not have to get out of bed for any reason.  I had nowhere to be that morning, and I was extremely tired.  I began to doze off back to sleep again.  I was aware that I wanted to get up and start my day though, because it was rather late in the morning.  I got up, thinking that I would likely be more awake when I had been up for a bit, and walked to my door... or so I thought, lol.  I very quickly realized I was laying in my bed, still under the covers and had never moved at all. :?  Oddly, I could even recall completely throwing off the covers and sitting for a second on the edge of the bed, before standing up.
I wandered, do you folks here think there might be a connection between this sudden reoccurace of this weird 'phasing' type thing, and the fact that I have been practicing projection techniques lately? :?

This is me standing in my friend's kitchen about five months ago.  Sorry, I know I look like a total wierdo in that pic.

Yes, I really do think that the physical body is able to call the astral body back in case of any need to do so.  This would not apply only in a panic situation really either.  Our bodied must be aware enough of what goes on around it, to still have the chance to take care of anything that should happen to come up while you are projecting.  Like, say someone had gone into a projection, and while his body is laying nicely where he left it, a small fire happened to start in the basement.  The body would likely smell the smoke and hear the smoke detector, and then on some level realize that something needs to be done.  It would have to pull the astral body back, and then get up and go downstairs to deal with the fire.  Or what if the telephone rang, or even your covers slipped off off the bed, and your body become uncomfortably cold.  These things would have to be dealt with as well, which would meancalling the astral body back right away.  I believe that it is that very strong link between the two bodies that keeps us so safe during projection.

I suppose this is starting to go a little off topic, but you really make a couple good points, Phitau.  Your physical body dying while you are projected certainly would be a very simple, and totally painless, and fearless way to die I suppose.  Of course, that does leave me thinking... how many people are truly in their bodies while they die anyway.  Depending on the cause of the individual's death, there could be some difference between the time the spirit leaves it's body and the time the body completely shuts itself down, and ceases to live.  I have a theory that perhaps we may not always be with our bodies until the moment it's heart stops beating.

You do mention though that dying during an OBE would mean not experiencing the physical pain the body would feel.  Now, assuming you were thinking of the body suddenly dying while you are projecting, where it was just fine and normally moments before, would the pain in hte body not count as a form of extream stress on the body.  Something that would cause it to pull the astral body back automatically.  For instance, let's say you were projecting and some psycho got into your home and silently enough to not wake you up, came into your bedroom and stabbed you in the chest.  Your body would suddenly be under an extram amount of sudden stress from the pain and the fact that it knows it could be in serious danger.  In an instinctive attempt to save itself, it would pull your copiousness back, so that you might try to call for help for something.  Therefore, while you would still likely die form that... so much for already being out, and missing all the pain and panic, right.
Of course I must also point out, even though I'm sure you knew this already, how unlikely a situation like that would be.  The chances of that happening would be almost impossible I would think.

I do think though that i for one, would like to experience death, while in my body.  I don't know, I just can't help but think that I might feel a little like I got the easy way out to die and never even feel at all like I am shifting over to a permanent nonphysical state.  Sorry... does that even make any sense, lol.

Well I know you already, from another site, but welcome anyways.

I uploaded it to photobucket and linked to it over there.

Thank you for sharing your technique with us.  It may well work for some people here.  Anyways... I read and replied to your other post on the forums here.  I am very inspired by your motivation to help others here by suggesting your method, even though APing might be something that you personaly find to be horrifying.

I finally got around to uploading an avitar pic onto this site, and I see my avitar space a a little blank blue square.  I wondered, is it jsut my computer or what.  Does everyone else see it as blank space too, or do you guys see a pic?  What copuld be the cause of it being blank space like that?  I have tried a few pictures on here as avitars, and they all end up looking that way.
Thanks guys for any info on this oddity.

I don't know about it being easier to show yourself to the living and things like that.  I would guess that that would depend on the level of perception of the living person involved.  As for you having a specail role in the non physical realms, it actually seems likely... to me anyway.  A projector, would, after all, have a head start on some things, compared to other people.  If you are already teaching people how to fly and things while you are still a living person, that has to mean something as well.
Of course all of us are specail in our own way, and we all do do something to impact the world while we are here on earth.  I seems like that one of the life missions of some people who project could be to do as you do and teach others to navigate the non physical world.
Something you never mentioned, but I will point out anyway, is that you likely also have an added advantage, in that you probably know with little doubt that you can survive physical death.  You have been out of you physical body and realized that you are still consous and aware.  I've always thought that to a projector, death must be almost just projecting, which they know how to do already, except that they time no body to return to that time.  To most people, death is a great unknown, and many greatly fear it.  Even I still have my own doubts about it.

Sorry for rambling everyone.  It's getting late here and I'm off on another of my Blazewind random philophoshy moments, lol.

The other day I woke up early in the morning, and decided to practice for a while, thinking about hopfully trying to project.  It was all going good.  I was feeling like I was getting very relaxed and yet staying quite aware of things.  I was hoping to get into mind awake, body asleep state, and I thought I was doing okay.  I just let the random images that I always get as I start to doze off, go through my head, and was putting effort into not getting caught up in them, just passively watching.  I was also taking slight notice of how much more relaxed my body was feeling, when suddenly I began to feel stiffness, and tension, mostly in my lower legs and wrists.  Oddly enough, I still felt like I was going to sleep and everything normally.  I worried though that this tension was a bad sign, and tried to focus on relaxing.
Anyone know anything about what this tension could have been all about, and how to deal with this?
Thanks.
Blaze.

Hello. :-)

I can easily imagine how horrible and frightened you must feel at this point.  I have been trying for a couple years or so, to consciously astral project, and I know that even though I have been reading all about this, and trying to do it all on purpose, I have still ended up scared half to death a few times at all of this.  I can quite easily picture being someone who is uninformed of this, and has had no intent to project.  If it can frighten somewho who is informed and working toward it, how bad it must be for someone who just wants to get a good night's sleep every night. :-(

I don't know what religion you are, or if you practice or fallow a religion at all, but perhaps try asking whatever god you personally fallow, to protect you while you find yourself in this pre-exit symptoms.  You can also repeat affirmations in your mind, saying something like, "I am safe and protected"  Or, maybe, "I am going to stop this right now, and just get some sleep."  Also, know that even though this is terrifying and frustrating, and weird, nothing can harm you.  Try to keep as much control as you can, and never forget that you will be alright. :-)

I too tend to have times where it seems to be almost working for me,and then many other times when it begins to seem that I will never be close like that again.  I still have yet to have a fully conscious projection, but I have been surprised at times by how close I think I may have come.  I count these times as my little personal successes, small steps toward my overall goal.  There are many other times however, where I will settle down to practice, and I just can't get anywhere near being close at all.  I find I just can't visualize, or my body won't relax properly, or I fall asleep.  It has occurred to me to wonder if my close successes are simply luck.  I don't know what I do right sometimes, and wrong other times.  Recently though, in the last few days in fact, I have begun to think this over and wonder if maybe, on a subconscious level, I want to take it so slowly, and get a good feel for all the steps one at a time, which could explain the hit or miss type progress.

Earlier I felt quite tired due to getting to bed late and being woken up early by the guy who lives in the apartment above me, blasting his music at an ungodly hour.  I decided to go and lay down and catch a quick nap, and when I did, I had some very weird random things happen for some reason.  I thought about practicing a little bit with a projection technique.  I figured, no real harm in trying.  I thought about trying to get the feeling of my energy body sort of rocking back and forth a bit.  I was surprised at how esay it was to actually start to feeling the motion.  Well I did this for could have been no more than a couple minutes, when I felt this very strange intense feeling of forward motion.  It reminded me very much of being on a fast moving city transit train.  For some reason I was mildly aware of a feeling that my feet were up against a solid surface, like the wall, even though I knew there was nothing at the bottom of the bed.  I knew that my feet were not touching anything, but it felt exactly like they were.
Now I know that feelings of movement like that are generally very good signs that something could happen.  I'm quite sure that movement like that might often lean up to sleep paralysis, and vibrations, which would allow you to exit.  (someone correct me if I'm wrong here.)  But what was up with feeling something solid at the bottom of my feet.  I've never heard of that one before.   Has anyone else ever had anything like this happen?  What on earth could have caused a feeling like that?

Also, I am almost certain my astral body's arms moved.   I was beginning to become more unaware of myself,  and then I noticed my arms in a postion sort at my side.  When I came back to great awareness of my body, I realized that my physical arms were then, still sort of bent at the elbows in front of me.  I tend to sleep on my side and lay quite curled up.  I lay this way when practicing as well.  I really think I might be getting closer now to being able to project, but I'm not sure.

Whenever I am making an attempt to project and I find myseld getting a bit nervous or afraid for some reason or anohter, I just repeat a calming afirmation in my mind, and think of growing calmer again.
