Greetings VM ,    I've been thinking simialar things lately. It would appear that when you are in the astral  (have not got there yet) ,  If you wish something to be, it will be so. So, if you did come a across a departed loved one how would you know if the true essence of that person is the one that you are conversing with ( is it them, or what you wish to be ). I have not concuoisly entered the astral, but thinking ahead I came up with an idea." What if", I spoke to my loved ones in the physical and asked them to write on a peice a paper something that only they would know and put all the answers in say, a safe. If in the future one of them should pass over(in the very far future)you could ask the question in the astral, then in the presence of all your loved ones you could check the answer. It would confirm to those present that it was infact the departed one you were conversing with was infact them.
            I believe it is possible to contact passed over beings, but due to certian laws beyond my comprehension( Astral laws if you wish )it makes it very difficult.
             I know my idea of confirmation sounds simplictic and would be interested to hear any replys on why or why not it could be possible or not.

        Your post reminds me of conversation I had with a friend a couple of weeks ago, not having projected myself as yet, she was explaining how real and clear an OBE can appear, a few days before our conversation she and her husband had started dream journal's, on the first night she had an excellent dream,woke up, turned on the bedside lamp, wrote the dream in the journal and then went back to sleep. In the morning upon waking she  picked up the journal,  telling her husband of the excelent dream, opened the journal and there was nothing there.
          I've got to say that since becoming interested in astral projection about 6 mth's ago,  i'm amazed by the number of people that i know that have projected and some that still do.

Hi Quebec, I am also  a newbie so to speak. I have not projected as yet,I  viewed your post's and did not reply becuase of a lack of knowledge on the subect .I think a lot of people viewing the posts may be in the same position.
         With that siad ,I may not have a knowlege of projecting ,but I do have a knowledge of friendlyness,and in hind sight I say "Hello Welcome".

It would appear that some of the meanings of some of the words have been misintereted.The word personality , is basically the character of the person. What makes up the personality ?(,I would say, mainly ego's ,others may not).
         The sum of what we are, and for the purpose of its own individuality ,we for the want of a discription call it the personality.
         The word persona is the outer aspect of the personality as revealed to others, I would say that if you had a persona that matched 100% to your personality ,that such a person would be one of two things,a person very enlightened indeed or a person who would have many problems fitting in to normal day to day life(I am not infering that what is considered normal is correct). Yes the persona is a mask,unfortnuatly a neccassary one due to what makes up  the personality.
            It's simalar to the question , should we,  or should we not lie?. The answer is, " no we should not have to lie" .The reality is,  If you came across someone who was severely injured and you personaly thought that due to the severety of the injuries  they were not going to make it, common sense would previal and you would lie and( I hope ) assure the person that they'ii be ok.
             The persona works the same way, If we were all enlightened being's the word persona would never have been required. unfotuantly due to our being it does exist.

Well,DB it's would apear your heading in the right direction in regards to the spiritual path. I agree with CN's statement  " In my opinion it sounds like you know yourself all too well". As I would say,"I consider I know myself". It is allright to think this way as long as when we do,we do not consider the "myself" as the "true self"( IT ). The myself is nothing more than a mass of Egos.
         DB, you stated                 " I  think that there actually is soemthing in the core of the soul thatif it would be found could be described as a true self".
         
         The something you talk about is there, the problem is it's trapped by the Ego's. An ego is typing this reply at the momment,although I would like to think a little bit of the something( IT ) is with me.
           CN stated                           "Our true self speeks to us all the time it is only a matter of stoping and listening to it"

           How true it is, the occasions when the true self ( IT ) does push through the myself(Egos)and gives that "intuative Knock" we normally ignore it.
            I have spent many years getting to Know my ego's of which there are legions. Knowing them is one thing,dissinagrating them is another. It is my personal believe that they( Egos )live in the astral or above.

D .B  ,I can uderstand where your coming from inregards to ,"being in the momment" whilst on a bike. If you should ever be planning a trip to the land of OZ,every Novenmber in Victoria we have the "Great Victorian Bike
Ride". It runs for ten days and usualy covers from 500-600 km's distant in total.Everything is catered for,you turn up with your bike and bag and of you go. All the staff in relation to transport,catering ect are volunteers, A lge number of the volunteers are from OS,they work hard but patry just as hard.

In relation to Nita's no 3 answer ," You have a choice to just move to another level to disappear if you don't feel like fighting".      It is my understanding that if you are in the astral seeking information inregards to your spiritual progress(path) that you have to fight(discinegrate) those  entities ect trying to stop or mislead you.
       On the other hand though, if you were in the astral just  browsing so to speak ,nothing is lost by as Nita puts it,"moving to another level to disapear".

Well what can I say, Laugh , that would have to be one of the best written discriptions of a sound of heard for a long time. I've have not projected as yet ,and as for the sound," it might read funny ,but I dont think I'd like to hear it"

        You sound like a bit of a pessimist thats just started to be of an optimist if ya ask me. I would't be to worried about the Astral ,I would concider myself an optimist, and those that know me would probably say fearless in regards to most things,having said that, I haven't projected as yet and the one time that I came close I went into full panic mode.
          I dont know if this has answered anything, just thought I'd say Gidday

           By the sounds of it, it could be interesting once I do enter the Astral. I've been doing some esoteric work over the year's in relation to the Ego's ect and believe the ego's(demons) reside in or above the Astral ."I know",or at least "I think I know" what I have to do when I get there.
           After browsing through the Forum's for the last week or so, it appears it may take time simply learning to navigate.
           And some say there are no more adventures left in the world (well may'be not in the contempary materialistic one).

     I can understand what your saying in regards to the Fear/Panic factor.I've nearly got out once,but a combination of fear and excitement brought it to a really quick end. It was definatly something that I thought wouldn't happen to me. After the practice ended(after months of practice's),I layed there thinking ,"I paniced,I cant believe it I panicked".I was discussing it with a few freinds and they said, "what YOU panicked" .
     I guess the moral of it is,"if you think you really understand yourself, think again".

hello from a mexican (term often used in australia by those living in  North to those in the south).

       Fenris, you dont live on the outskirts do you, reason I ask is that haven't there been siteings up around Queensland of what is supposed to a Panther. Not long ago there was some video footage shot that ended up on the news,looked like a panther to me?
        There's an amusing story from a parks ranger from one of the national parks down here(Victoria).Two tourists(middle aged women from America) walked into a parks office to obtian some maps and during the conversation with the staff one said, "oh, I didn't realize you also had Cougars over hear too", the young ranger started to explian that some of the locals were just spreading a myth.The woman asked "if he had ever seen a cougar close up" to which he replied "no". The woman then told the ranger that, she "had", and that were she lives in America she has seen many in her lifetime", and what she and her friend saw in the park was in fact a cougar.
        The woman took the ranger to were it was apparently seen.This information is documentated with Parks Victoria.

         anyhow,who knows, the way you discribed it's stealth,and if youv'e looked a panther in the eyes at the zoo,they look straight througth you.


          If you should be out running at night and see it, be it physical or entitie "Run faster mate".

I do know that astral is spelt ASTRAL ,like I said in the post"information overload".
