Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Success!
December 14, 2010, 18:54:58
I just got over my 10 month dry spell with 3 projections in a row!  WOOT!

I'm not gonna talk about them right now, but there was some strangeness going on, like "Tri-Location" (I was aware of the projection, a dream and physical reality simultaneously, odd indeed).

Maybe if I can straighten the memories out I'll share the experience, but nevertheless I wanted to share with everyone that I projected.

word.

SO I just broke my 10 month dry spell on OBEs (that's not what I'm here to share but it provides context).  I always had trouble stabilizing my projections in the past and this was no different.  I believe it is because technically I'm a "beginner" in the actual astral environments.  Usually I have only been able to stay out of body for a short time and then everything would go dark and I'd be back in my body.  It was always hard for me to remember to do something when I started to feel that way, and what's more, what are you supposed to do?  What can you do that will help you regain focus?

A lot of people recommend meditating but I was never able to do that well out of body for some reason.  But recently NoY mentioned something in IRC chat about a universal meditation for nearly anything (cleansing, centering, energizing, feelin' good) called the Purple Flame Meditation.  The reason I like this meditation is because it's really simple and it really does make you feel good, cleansed and relaxed, the simple part being important.

In my projections today (more like 15 minutes ago) I was out of the body, flying around my community and I started to feel myself fade.  I was climbing a tree and everything started to go black and without even thinking about it I pushed off from the tree and hovered in the air in a full lotus position.  I started doing the purple flame meditation while i floated for about 30 seconds, then when I opened my eyes I felt fully refreshed, full of energy and ready to go.

So, for anyone who has trouble stabilizing a projection, making it easier to assert your will, try this purple flame meditation anytime you feel perceptually weak or as soon as you successful exit the body (or phase).  It's almost like it grounds you, but it grounds you in the projection.

The meditation is really simple (which i said was important because after you do it a couple times, like once a night for a week or so, it quickly becomes habit and requires no thought to execute while OOB).  On your in breath pull white light into your body and on your out breath see purple flames coming from the top of your head and engulfing the body.

IN - White Light
OUT - Purple Flame coming from your crown chakra, engulfing your body

This has been the most helpful little trick I have learned in a while so I highly recommend giving it a try.  There might be something to say for the fact that I've been in a dry spell for 10 months and a week or so after I started doing this purple flame meditation I achieved my first conscious exit in a long time.  Just a thought.

the problem with something like picking numbers for the lottery is that as soon as you know the numbers, your knowledge of them changes what they turn out to be.  this comes up ALL the time at my work.  people think they're clever and ask stupid questions like, "if the psychics there are real why haven't they all retired after winning the lottery or something?!".  very few, if any, psychics make predictions about the future.  they might be able to give an impression of where your future is heading based on what they see now, but besides that it would be irresponsible for them to make such predictions, especially when the other end of stupid people show up (those who do EXACTLY what the reader says with no question).  in the end, the psychics are really just counselors who can see a little deeper into you that you can (you can, it just takes training).  but the idea is the same, the information they see comes from the same place that the information you see in an AP or LD comes from.

that's the crummy part of a lot of these techniques that require a "lot" from you (like visualizations).  you have to do it enough to make it habitual.

It means you have 'cognitive dissonance'.

or does it??

Many occult traditions say that having a goal or "necessity" is a very effective way to achieve projection.

I fear when I hear talk like this that you might be out hurting others and not so much physically, but mentally.  I fear for your children if you have them.  I fear for the people around you that exude light because you seem to have distaste for it.

line between conversation and personal attack crossed.

done.

when you want to stop making it personal, just let me know.

I would imagine it to be similar to Robert Bruce's NEW Full-Body Circuit.

funny?  cool?

i think that i'm just not wound up about things that i've learned to accept.

you obviously have a very personal connection to this subject, which would make your judgment biased at a deep emotional level.

i would also really appreciate it if you would quit referring to me and the IRC people (specifically Xanth) as "ya'lls clique".  we are friends, this is true.  we agree on some things, this is true.  but we disagree on much much more.  if you came into the chat room and talked to us more, i would consider you just as much of a friend.  we have a "clique" because we have gotten to know each other on a much more personal basis.  and you know what, it allows our discussions to get a lot more in depth because we feel like we're talking to people that at least "kind of" get us, unlike the complete disregard for the fact that we're people trying to learn who we are that we meet here on the forums sometimes.

but none of that means that we conspire in the chat room on what we agree is right and then come preach it in the forum.  so stop. thank you.

morality is just a ridiculous notion to me.  now, i choose to have compassion because i empathize with the human condition, but i also don't deny half of existence because someone told me it was morally wrong once.  i guess if you believe in all the love and light hippy dippy new age stuff, then cool, but i embrace the light and the dark.  in fact, i love darkness.  everything i've ever felt to be "good" and pleasurable has been dark, lunar, feminine, deep, mysterious.  embracing reality means all of reality, not just what the vicar says is good form.

i just realized what the difference is between my perception of time and you all's.

i came upon my realization through mediation and contemplation, you read what other people contemplated.

that makes sense now.  in that context, my comment doesn't make sense.

not that abuse, murder, etc. etc. are pleasant, but maybe it needs to happen.  maybe some people need to be victims and others need to be predators.  maybe that's what their "soul" needs to experience.  a lesson must be learned.  seeing as how we're all infinite beings and whatnot, it shouldn't be that terribly immoral to kill or torture someone.  those two kinds of people come together because that is what they chose to do, that is what their energy dictates is appropriate for them.

the only thing that makes anything objectively stable is mass subjective perception.  so the fact that so many people have been to poland makes it real.  a lot of people believe that this principle holds true in the astral.  there are "realms" that seem to have permanence because some many beings are focused on it as to give it "a life of it's own".  but when it all comes down to it, that realm is still a subjective experience that wouldn't exist if there weren't so much focus on it.

earth (physical reality) is difficult.  we've been habituated to perceive through our 5 senses only.  you have to consider the paradigm that everyone who is alive today formed their unique perception through.  and what is that paradigm?  scientific materialism and reductionism.  everything is fundamentally made of tiny particles of matter and that's really all there is too it. how else would you expect us to perceive reality?!  doesn't mean it's "true", it just means that from our perspective and experience, objectivity makes 'getting along in the world' easier.  I really think objectivity is a subjective "ghost in the machine" that developed because our language is sooooo symbolic (metaphorical) that objectivity became a necessity for group interaction.  but i do believe we'll grow past it.  i think that in the beginning we were individually aware of the subjectivity of things, then we developed objectivity as civilization grew and in the future i think that we'll be mutually aware of the subjectivity of reality (as a collective, as a species).

I'm totally not on board with people who claim past-life regression.  maybe parallel life regression.

And the idea of planes popped up in the late 19th to early 20th century.

Many other cultures had lots of other "roadmaps" for the astral.  Most of them are broken into a basic 3 realms, the lower world, middle world and upper world (the middle world being physical reality).

We should start a history of AP/OBE thread and/or dedicated subforum.

all metaphysics aside, psychologically speaking, our expectations of our reality are constantly projected onto our environment.  this reflects back a reality that matches our state of mind.  simply put, self-fulfilling prophecy.  but it's bigger than that really.  this is always happening.

metaphysically we seem to be on the same page quite a bit.

I think it might be appropriate to point out that energy work doesn't require you to follow a particular technique (like NEW) and more importantly, energy work may take numerous forms that might not be traditionally defined as energy work.

For example, when Xanth is doing phasing practice, I'd call that energy work.

When Tiny pulls energy up his feet, that's energy work.

When Stookie does NEW exercises, that's energy work.

When I focus on attention on my heart chakra as the primary mode of perception throughout my day, that's energy work.

Just thinking about projection is energy work in it's own way, conditioning your energy to prepare for OBE.

significant traumas can create these things.  what really counts is how the person deals with those traumas emotionally.

anyone watch Dexter?

Dexter and his brother Brian were both witness to their mother being murdered (chainsaw) in front of them and then they say in inches of her pooled blood for days.  This trauma broke them.  But Dexter was adopted by a police officer who felt Dexter was young enough to have a chance at something normal (while he thought Brian, who was older, was a lost cause).

Well, when Dexter started to show signs of the effect the trauma had on him (killing small animals), his adoptive father began to teach him to kill only those people that killed or harmed others (besides murder, things like brutal rape and pedo).  Granted the urge to kill is still in him, but the interesting part is that he almost learns a type of compassion/empathy/sympathy for the people that have been killed or harmed, which drives him to bring justice to the "bad guy".

Conversely, his brother, who had no training to speak of like Dexter did, is a sadistic murderer.  He's the kind of guy Dexter kills.  Psychologically, Brian wasn't lead through any kind of coping process.  I know that teaching a kid to be a vigilante is an odd way of coping, but his 'father' di a good job with what he had.

I think this is a really interesting analysis of the directions a significant trauma can have on the psyche.....of course in the books they get into a lot more supernatural stuff, like the trauma broke them down and opened them up to a possessing entity that Dexter calls his "Dark Passenger".  They mention this title in the show, but they attribute it to an ancient sumerian god in the books and even send dexter on an adventure dealing with a cult who worships said god in one of the books.  But nevertheless, it's still interesting.

Xanth or Stookie.

They are the only mods that are really around and active regularly.  A lot of the others are either inactive or aren't able to be here that often.
#1175
Mods should certainly be very active in the forum, but the moderator's primary job is just "paperwork".

Whether or not a mod abuses those powers is a different story.

But I guess it depends on what you feel the role of a moderator is.
