I like the sound of this idea!...

Anywhere else you can get this done apart from hermeticuniversityonline.com? I read there site, but I don't trust when people mention magic, demons and the occult.

Cheers

if you're of that sentiment then you ought to believe it's all in their minds anyway, so if you don't believe it, it's not a problem.

otherwise, the word occult just means "hidden".  the occult and magic isn't inherently evil.  anything can be turned "evil" by the person using it.  so if you don't trust occult groups because it might be "evil" then your probably shouldn't trust science, politics, education, marketing, capitalism, religion, technology, on and on and on and on.  Anything can be "evil".

most practitioners that are labeled "occult" or "pagan" or "magicians" are better people than you or I.  they tend to be more open, accepting and humble.  not to mention compassionate.  they are usually dedicated to a practice that they do every single day and these spiritual practices open them up to the greater reality, a vantage point that allows one to see our world from a more "sagely" perspective.  you would be achieving the same end by practicing astral projection, so you have a lot more in common with them than "normal" people.

but whatever you're comfortable with i suppose.  people just get the wrong idea about magic and the occult.  in my opinion, everything we do is magic, the manipulation of astral energies.  every choice we make, everytime we exert our will on our environment.

you can't rely on external sources to achieve projection.

the more successful route would be to put the effort into training your mind and body.  it might take longer, but you'll be happier in the end when you can project on cue whenever you want.

i love frasier.

but yea, a little more practicing what you preach would be awesome.
#1204
yea yea, and blah blah blah, more buddhist stuff.  "who is the other" "I am the other master", and blah blah.

i still hate 'them'

lol.  jk

hmm....that's a little trickier.  i don't have anything prerecorded, i just have scripts that you record yourself, but none of them will "get you out of the body".
#1206
but don't you still just hate 'them'

Korbin,

that's the "dweller on the threshold".  it's your ego trying to spook you because it's scared.

i'm actually really against protesting because as you say, it perpetuates the problem.

this is why i can't stand people like feminists and racial equality people.  the intention may be pure, but what they're doing is just giving more power to "difference".  the only way to overcome inequality is to forget it exists.

here's a good example.  i go to a city college, very urban.  what this means is that we have a highly diverse population of students, especially black and asian.  so i was in a class about two years ago called "intercultural" something or other (the goal was to bring students to intercultural competence, not just being accepting of other cultures, but having a genuine desire to understand other cultures and accept them because you know them, not because you're supposed to) and we got into a heated debate about racism, specifically racism between blacks and whites.  i think it was instigated by this picture:

i tried to express to the class that we were the generation that had the ability to forget about all this civil rights struggle and move on.  my generation is one of the first that has grown up with more or less equality among whites and blacks.  in my world, a black man has just as much chance as a white man to get a job or live in a certain neighborhood (this may not be entirely accurate, but the difference is that my generation came up after the significant events in civil rights history).  i asked the black students why they would want to pass the pain of "inequality" on to their kids.  i told them that we had the chance to change things, we could teach our kids that everyone is the same and we are far enough from the events of the civil rights movement to actually start something new, a new paradigm.  the other students weren't very receptive to this idea.  when it came down to it, they told me that growing up as a black person, you have instilled in the back of your mind that white people aren't trustworthy and when it all comes down to it you can only trust fellow black people.  i asked if they really felt that way and most of them said no, they had never really experienced anything but acceptance from their white peers (notice i say peers and not just white people, some of the older generations are still biggoty).  so i asked why they wanted to perpetuate that kind of distrust in their fellow humans and they said because white people deserve it.  there is still a lot of resentment being held on to and that is what fuels debates over things like race and gender.  it's cultural pride and it's poisoning the global society.  this kind of thinking perpetuates the problem.  people think they're fighting for all kinds of equality, but what they're really doing is attacking what they don't like and forcing something different.  you might say "well it gets things done" but it obviously doesn't.  because of the way "equality" was achieved, there is a lot of anger on both sides.  the better solution would be to just raise a generation of kids who aren't indoctrinated with the "achievements of civil rights leaders" (sounds awful right?).  instead, just teach them what the civil rights leaders taught.  it's like the buddha.  don't worship the buddha, follow his example.

anyway, i just find protesting in the current form to be counter-productive and full of anger.

that reminds me of something my boss said to a customer who wanted to make her troubles go away.  my boss told her not to think about what she wanted to get rid of, but instead consider what she wanted to bring into her life.

i agree that this will be a big change in the way "protesting" happens, the motivation behind it will become about creating something beautiful, not destroying something that we don't think works.

do you think there is some barrier that prevents humans from going "that far"?

A relatively simple method of interacting with your subconscious on a more "meaningful" level than just affirmation is what Carl Jung called Active Imagination.  It's basically phasing without taking that next step of moving into the visualization.  The most common experience is to achieve the hypnagogic state (where you begin "seeing" flashes of images and symbols in your mind) and interact with the images that appear.  So if a person appears, speak to them, ask them questions.  If a symbol appears ask it to show you it's true nature and it's effect on you.  What you're doing is allowing your subconscious to present itself to you.  You can gain a lot of personal insight this way.  You could also consider this to be a method of "healing the shadow self".

here is a good website with some further information on active imagination and dreams.

http://dreamhawk.com/body-and-mind/active-imagination-and-dreams/

and a page on different concepts that Jung put forth that could be useful in understanding how to merge your subconscious and conscious minds more easily (especially the shadow self).

Yo dawgs,

many people talk about relaxation as a skill, as if it were something that one can progressively get better on.

Well, this would mean that there is more to it than muscular tension releasing, such as a mental holding on to the body that would prevents people from getting out of their bodies (in theory). If so, that would explain why masters like Robert Bruce say they can get out within very few minutes of lying down, or Robert Peterson writes he had left his body even while walking.
For some people Astral Projection is like a cakewalk, yet for others near impossible, so there must be a level of looseness of one's astral body. On the other hand, maybe its just that some people simply have more DMT produced in their pineals

I think relaxation is the key ingredient but the HOW is where it gets complicated imo.

It doesn't necessarily mean that there is more than the release of muscle tension.  The progressive part of "progressive relaxation" is that you move progressively through the different muscle structures.  So instead of just pick random muscles to relax, you start at the feet or head and progress through the body, relaxing each muscle group in turn.  Also, you do get better at it because you learn how to isolate different muscle groups the more you do it and focus more attention on relaxing.  The more you do it, the faster you can do it because you learn the most effective ways to isolate and relax specific groups of muscles.

I do think there is more happening than just relaxation during that period too though, I just don't think it's necessarily related to relaxation.  I think there is a separate action being taken that just hasn't been entirely identified.  I suspect it has something to do with movement sensations.  For example, when i practice i simulate the falling sensation.  I don't even really relax anymore, I just do the falling thing.

you can also find active meditation called things like Visualization Meditation, Active Imagination, Pathworking, Shamanic Journeying, etc.
shamanic journeying is probably the most popular title for this kind of work.  NoY's explanation is much simpler than most shamanic journeying scripts.  plus you're in a very familiar environment (your kitchen) which makes it easier to immerse yourself in that environment.

i've got some scripts at home that are good.  when i get off work and get home tonight i'll look at them and figure out where i got them and let you know.  if all else fails, i'll post them on the forum or i'll PM/Email them to you.

So are there "kingdoms" that more than just 1 person claimed to visit? Or is every kingdom different because their your own "projections"

archetypal kingdoms seem to be similar, like in the symbolism of tarot cards, rune stones, myths & legends, etc., multiple people have visited these types of realms.

do you mean self-hypnosis scripts that you record and listen to, or do you mean binural beats, isochronic beats, brain wave generator, audio tracks that play tones designed to induce trance?
#1218
yea stookie,

when i use the word Astral Kingdom it's always been in reference to the subjective kingdom i created as a representation of my inner self.

welcome.

exactly.

the angle that the light hits the atmosphere changes as the earth rotates and revolves, producing different colors.  but like i said, i would expect the colors to strobe.

I gotta tell you, I've done a lot of stargazing and never saw them change colors.  Twinkle yes, strobe green and blue and red no.  But maybe it's that now I wear glasses and it contributes to the 'prism' effect.  But in my case, it was only one star.

So,  :?

well i wouldn't say they strobe, but you can notice one star appearing to be a different color at different times.
#1222
that's strange, it always gives me a steaming pile of crap.
#1223
hold the injured hand with the good hand and send warm white light into it regularly.  i would also keep doing the energy work.  you might include a piece of Fluorite or Clear Quartz in the energy work.
#1224
stars twinkle and change color because of their light interacting with our atmosphere.

that was one of the first things i learned about astronomy because i always though stars were aliens because they twinkled and changed color.

i agree jarrod, individuals is quite appropriate.

this is actually bigger than just people who are interested in astral projection.  it's about people who are interested in self-exploration, people who want to know who, what and why they are.  there is something unique about us.  we have some kind of realization that drives us, motivates us toward exploration.  i actually did a podcast about the "motivation toward enlightenment'.  the best answer i could discover was, "what else is there?"  we grow and change and move toward unity of consciousness (awareness of our full consciousness spectrum).  some of us try to define what we are, and a lot of those people gravitate towards the ambiguity of the "new age" and "spiritual" stuff.  others wipe away any definition and just do what feels right.  we can move from tradition to tradition, never really believing it, but trying it and taking what works for us.  but when it all comes down to it we are just beings experiencing and exploring.
